Funniest and definitely one of the best comic book movie ever made! I doubt Deadpool will be matched in a very very long time.....well until Deadpool 2 comes out that is. A brilliant, joyful film which revels in violence and delights in the hilarity provided by the protagonist. By far this is the best "superhero" movie to date. Even Stan Lee's cameo was amazing and he's usually barely noticeable as his acting chops lack well chops. Not complaining as it wasn't gratuitous by any means. The humor is on point and not just thrown out there to try and be funny. Ryan Reynolds is absolutely perfect for this role. I was also proud to see that the movie theater was carding kids trying to see this flick. If you want an adult superhero movie, go see this one. You need to not know a thing as the movie does a great job with origin story and current action together. It goes back and forth and superbly done. Whatever you do, stay and watch after the credits. There might be some generation gap issues for those not familiar with the 90's but all in all a f*cking great movie!… Expand

Fantastic!
Deadpool is one of my favorite comic book characters of all time, and after seeing the trailer for this, I fell into the hype. Let's just say that it surpassed my expectations. The movie captures Wade's sarcastic, goofy, 4thFantastic!
Deadpool is one of my favorite comic book characters of all time, and after seeing the trailer for this, I fell into the hype. Let's just say that it surpassed my expectations. The movie captures Wade's sarcastic, goofy, 4th wall breaking and raunchy personality very well, even if it's not perfect. The movie is all about Wade trying to fetch back his wife from the man who gave him his "mutant powers”. It’s the classic “save my wife from the baddies” shtick, but what happens in-between makes for a fantastic Marvel movie. One thing I liked about the film was that it didn’t drag out Wade’s backstory similar to Ant-Man; instead switching between the present and his backstory, it's a minor thing, sure, but for me, it helped the pacing of the movie. The movie has vulgar humor, intense fight scenes, and some romance sprinkled in. I especially liked the movie's portrayal of Deadpool's 4th wall breaking, such as telling the viewer not to leave popcorn on the floor, telling the viewer his backstory himself, etc. It's a fantastic film overall, but I expected a bigger connection to the Marvel universe, such as the rest of the X-Men, or even Spider-man. Vulgar, bloody and hilarious, Deadpool should not be overlooked.

Deadpool gets a 9/10.
What? A 10/10? Come on, Wade, it wasn't that go- *shot*… Expand

As much as I hate Ryan Reynolds and it kills me to admit this but he really was made for this part. The fans wanted this movie and they will not be disappointed, hits the nail on the head effortlessly. I absolutely loved this movie. Glad to see that it was given an R rating (and rightfully so). Deadpool is chock full of adult humor references and gory fight scenes. Anytime you see a review that gives a 0 or a 10, my advice is to skip it. There is an obvious bias there. Were there parts of this movie that just irritated the heck out of me? Yes. Were there parts of this movie that just irritated the heck out of me? Yes. Is it a very crude, toilet humored, violent, film with scenes of sex and nudity? Yes. Are the action scenes worth seeing? Yes. It was refreshing to see a different kind of hero movie. It reminded me of how The Crow made me feel when I first saw it. It was a different kind of hero movie. It was dark, full of action and very gritty from the beginning to the end. That is what made that film very good. Deadpool has a similar feel except it has a much more sarcastic main character and is seriously funny.

Is this the best movie I have ever seen? Not, by a long shot. Is it a really good movie worth the price of a hefty admission on a Friday night? Absolutely. If you don't like toilet humor, high school boy humor, and silliness....don't see this movie. Nothing is more irritating than someone who goes into a movie like this and expects a wholesome, uplifting, and moral experience. This movie is not for you. It is also absolutely not for kids. There is nudity, sex, and very vulgar language and humor. Although I love movies like this, I will NEVER let my children see it until they are old enough.

It was a movie given to us...the adults who never really grew up! It is definitely a movie I will buy when it is released.

Ryan Reynolds gives us what he always does....his snarky one liners and his hilarious sarcasm. I've like most of his films, but this one really allows him to bring out that sarcasm. I loved him in Blade: Trinity and his personality in that film. It is similar here...but amplified 100 times. He is silly, but he is a talented actor as well. I loved the conversation between him and Weasel when he (Weasel) saw him after his change. You'll know what I mean when you see it.… Expand

As a super hero fan I decided to go watch this movie. I knew how Deadpool was in the comics and I expected to see that reflected on screen. It has the trademark Deadpool humour all over it and the 4th wall breaking I was expecting from that character. The inclusion of the x-men was a nice touch, while there weren't that many of them in the movie, it was a nice addition because Deadpool is part of that universe. He is diagnosed with terminal cancer and Francis aka. Ajax cures him by torturing him to death by turning his body and face into severe scarring's. That is all in his backstory and as you can see, he just breaks the fourth wall about it. He does that in every scene he is doing. It's just mind-blowing. Haha, not to mention that the songs I love are really in it like You're the inspiration by Chicago and Careless Whisper by Wham! aka. George Michael. If you love the film, scroll forward to the end credits and watch Deadpool breaking the fourth wall to it while listening to Careless Whisper. I'm not even kidding. It's pretty hilarious. Now Deadpool is first seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and he is seen without a costume, doesn't use bad language and he has his mouth gone. Right after the credits he rips off Ferris Bueller's Day Off by telling the audience that there's a sequel going to be made and be released and cable is going to be in it. I'll bet the audience and I can't wait to see this movie in a couple of weeks. Deadpool is an R rated superhero film that kids shouldn't be allowed to watch. Not because they want to watch it cause it's part of the X-Men franchise, it's because it's rated R for blood, guts, sex and language which I guess people shouldn't be offended by which calls for breaking fourth walls to the people. it's an awesome flick with the highest grossing success at the box office, hilarious jokes and puns and fantastic portrayal of Deadpool by Ryan Reynolds. Now as Weasel was saying: To you, Mr. Pool. Deadpool. That sounds like a f£$king franchise.… Expand

Deadpool is bad ass. Theres no other way to put it. Bravo Ryan Reynolds, you did fantastic. But its also the action, the personal story, the jokes, the effects, and the mature rating that make this movie so undeniably awesome.

After the abysmal Fan4stic; I was a bit nervous about this movie. The marketing was top notch but I dared to hope that the film lived up to the marketing. I couldn't be happier to say that Deadpool finally has delivered the Deadpool fans have been wanting. Not sewing his mouth shut was an excellent start.

The movie earns its R rating with a copious amount of nudity, gratuitous violence and wanton profanity. Reynolds was born to play this character. The film opens by treating you to one of the best opening credit sequences ever. The film also manages a great balance of action, exposition and 4th wall self awareness. In fact its the 4th wall breaks that offer some of the films more entertaining moments. Reynolds even pokes fun at himself as well as his former movies like Green Lantern and other Marvel properties and indeed Fox themselves.

The fact that Fox took the risk to make this film as they did should be applauded. It also bears mentioning that the supporting cast are good as well. Colossus is incredibly likable as is his young trainee Negasonic Teenage Warhead. My one criticism is that the villains themselves weren't all that interesting and were pretty obscure.

The movie also has one of the best cameos of Stan Lee ever! If you love Deadpool you owe it to yourself to see this film. This was made for the fans. Also be sure to stick around through the end credits as well!… Expand

[spoiler] Commencer avec "Réalisateur = Bouler surpayer" LOL quoi !!! [/spoiler] Une histoire de gros bras BADASS complètement "con", mais stylisé de nombreux effets spéciaux comme les bullet time ou les stops motion qui nous font sourire !!! Une bande-son choisie correctement à croire que Marvel et la Fox ont bien compris que les bandes-son personnalisées sont plus plaisantes (merci gardien de la galaxie)
Un Univers totalement intégrer à X-MEN ce qui annonce un univers cinématographique.

If anyone has ever said "I wish some of these superhero movies would be a bit more adult-like", this is your movie. The character breaking that "4th wall" and talking to the audience at times, plus the sprinkled jabs at the evolving Marvel universe (especially after X-Men, Days of Future Past) are all incredible, bold moved that pay off. I loved just about everything there was to Deadpool. That being said, I did think that there may have been opportunities to make this origin story even funnier and more interesting - that would have put this among some of my favorite movies ever. It's absolutely entertaining, and I think a majority of viewers that are interested in watching this film will have a good time at the theater. I'd honestly give it an 8.5/10 if the rating meter allowed me to, but I went with the conservative approach in that department.… Expand

Long story short, on its release date I wasn't at least disappointed. I knew what I was expecting and got exactly that (and more).
The most important aspect besides the creative jokes is of course the R rated category which definitely boosted the audiences' interest. Tim Miller along with Ryan Reynolds actually did a pretty unique re-watchable masterpiece to enjoy on various occasions.
Deadpool has its flaws of course seeing as the main focus is captivating people through language and visuals but sometimes forgets about the story and actor development (including the main villain which is very forgettable).

Some jokes do feel a little too forceful and excessive at times and the plot is as basic as it gets, but the movie knows that too and it does not give a fuuck about it. From its opening scene to credits, the film ceaselessly takes jabs at past and present trends and even shiites on Marvel for its 'limited' budget. It never takes itself seriously and goes all out with all kinds of comedy gold, something you don't see mixed often with the superhero genre. Of course credits to the writers and director for fusing the hype blockbuster marvel superhero formula with comedy, but it truly was Ryan Reynolds who undoubtedly made all this happen so smoothly. His flexibility and natural talent both as a actor and comedian is well shown in his character as he overturns his previous failure as green lantern into a success, winning his fans over as deadpool. Overall "Deadpool" is a great Marvel movie; it isn't great in a sense that we have a bunch of avengers coming out as cameos fighting evil, but great in a sense that it delivers what everybody loves, blood-pumping action and grade A comedy, with a cheerful whistle.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Deadpool is the first Fox comic book movie that's unashamed of its source material. Sometimes the lack of budget is obvious, but Tim Miller succeeded in translating the aesthetics of a Rob Liefeld comic to the big screen. It's an ugly-looking film, but that works to its advantage since the merc with a mouth lives in a disgusting and nasty world. Kudos for the offbeat pacing in the action scenes (I loved the montage of Deadpool upgrading his costume). Sure, there are plenty of cliches, but all of them are executed in a witty fashion you don't see very often in the genre.
Ryan Reynolds' delivery is on point (his dialog fits him like a tailor-made tuxedo) and won't make you miss Nolan North. He finds himself in the perfect playground to display his comedy and action chops. The supporting cast happens to be fantastic as well. Ed Skrein is having a blast as an "evil for the sake of being evil" villain, TJ Miller and Morena Baccarin have chemistry to spare with Reynolds, and even Gina Carano turned out fine.
It's a flick made by fans for the fans, and a breath of fresh air in the comic book adaptations landscape.… Expand

The action is there. The jokes are there. Spot on casting, solid performances, yet, it feels like it's missing a real story. At its core, this is a Deadpool origin story. Nothing more, nothing less. A shames as it would have been nice if it had more to it than that. Also, the movie feels short.

Still, bottom line is this movie is great, just hope the sequel has more substance.

Overall:
A fun movie that does the name proud, a shame there wasn't more.… Expand

Funny, funny movie. Doesn't add much to the X-men universe, sort of playing on the fringes, but me and my wife loved this movie. Don't bring the kids.

Unlike many I tend to not get excited over the Marvel films and their interwoven universes due to their feel and tone all seeming too similar and safe, with no risks being taken; and before viewing I thought Deadpool would be the same sort ofUnlike many I tend to not get excited over the Marvel films and their interwoven universes due to their feel and tone all seeming too similar and safe, with no risks being taken; and before viewing I thought Deadpool would be the same sort of thing just with more d**k jokes. But I was wrong.
The feel and direction of this film is great, more violent, more consistently funny so it can actually be labelled a comedy and the most comic like adaption of what you’d expect a comic book to look like on screen I’ve seen. From the opening intro scene of what almost feels like a camera zooming round a 3D comic strip to the over the top violence and fight sequences this film has it all.
The 4th wall breaks really do help the film as it is a hilarious addition to the film and something else which makes it stand out from the other Marvel monotony. The humour in the film is a real good mix of crude, offensive, meta and visual that blend in a tasty concoction.
Ryan Reynolds also extremely surprised me with how well he played the character Deadpool as in the trailers I felt a bit ambivalent towards him, but this film really shows his comedic timing and line delivery for comedies. His character origins were also dealt with in a more interesting way due to the film not being shot in chronological order. The film flies back and forth between Wade Wilson and Deadpool so that it keeps your attention up.
All supporting cast are good in their roles but none really stand out against Reynolds. They’re all enjoyable to watch and they do get across the point of who your meant to like and who your meant hate and I suppose that is what they’re there for. The only thing I can say negatively against it was Ed Skrein’s character Francis (or Ajax) who is just a plain bad guy. He is a **** in the film which is what he should be like but there is no layers nor small intricacies to his character that make him a memorable bad guy; he more just comes to be a bad guy Deadpool fights.
Overall Deadpool surprised me very much and has made me eager to see a sequel, with its gore and offensive humour it really does stand out. I think everyone should go see this film so we can see more 15 (and hopefully 18) rated films. That’s an R in the U.S. I’m pretty sure.

The superhero movie boom has gone on long enough that it's time for something like this: a self-aware quasi-parody. The genre needs to make fun of itself a bit. It's a little dirty, plenty violent, and a lot of fun.

Ryan Reynolds nails the title part, though the supporting cast has some head-scratchers, from Ed Skrein's one-note overconfident charisma to Gina Carrano's can't act-ness. And while Morena Baccarin made plenty of an impression as a zen master prostitute on Firefly or as the frigid alien queen on V, it's subsequently hard to buy her in this role which requires a little more zest. Nonetheless, the movie works well enough.

There is an end credits scene, a Stan Lee cameo, and everything else you'd expect from a comic book movie.… Expand

'Deadpool' is my favorite comic book movie ever made. The comedy is so on point, in my opinion it's the kinda breath of fresh air the first 'Hangover' was back in 2009, however 'Pool' is a way funnier movie. Ryan Reynolds as the 'Merc with a Mouth' is his career defining role and after a string of flops that included the critically reviled 'Green Lantern' & 'R.I.P.D.', Reynolds FINALLY catches lightning in a bottle with the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time and it's well deserved. Seeing an R-rated (Fox) Marvel film with such a wide release gives me hope that whatever happened with last years 'Fantastic Four' reboot will not happen again, or at least not in the near future.… Expand

I've enjoyed most superhero films to date, and I could be categorised as a fan of the genre. Still it's remarkably easy to screw up this genre and the character of Deadpool is one few people understand. Thankfully this is the one time theyI've enjoyed most superhero films to date, and I could be categorised as a fan of the genre. Still it's remarkably easy to screw up this genre and the character of Deadpool is one few people understand. Thankfully this is the one time they got him perfect, the humour was on point, the action needlessly gruesome just for the hell of it, and the tone immature in all the right ways.

While the storyline is nothing special, it's consistent and a good adaptation of the source material which is all you can really ask for. The action was clearly limited due to budget restraints meaning the film had to maintain a small scope and really only manages two action set-pieces throughout the whole film. This could have been detrimental pacing wise but they make it work, even if the film does drag slightly in the middle. Really whether you enjoy this film will come down to whether you find the character of Deadpool funny or not. Honestly, I'm not normally one for low brow comedy and often find it insulting to my intelligence; but occasionally there's a method of delivery which works perfectly. TV shows like 'Bottom' are a good example. Deadpool works. Almost every joke from the crude to the absurd was timed perfectly and the juxtaposition between it and the action made for a thoroughly enjoyable films and one of the best films of the year so far... it's early days yet, but I expect this to still make peoples "Top 10 films of 2016" lists. Despite a formulaic yet expected superhero plot, the non-linear narrative by slipping the several action sequences together with flashbacks added with the heavy adult-related hilarious jokes throughout the film are wildly entertaining. The film stays faithfully to the characteristics of Deadpool - both humors and violence, which are perfectly portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, who is definitely the right actor to suit the character. The romantic chemistry between Wilson and Vanessa is emotionally engaging and convincing compared to Wolverine, making it a great option for Valentine outing. Changing his suit from green to red, Reynolds certainly has a lot of fun time in this non-family-friendly superhero adventure and the overall outcome has made the classic Deadpool shines among the other superheroes from the same studio.… Expand

If you wanna see a superhero movie that curses or shows a lot of blood with outstanding humor and portrayal by Ryan Reynolds, this movie is for you! Trust me, Deadpool has tons of jokes on his sleeve that'll make you laugh like hell.

Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as Deadpool, and his dedication to getting the character right forms a true portrayal of a character that is very hard to get right, as we learned 7 years ago. Deadpool is hilarious, bitingly smart, and paced like the foul mouthed energizer bunny from hell. In an interview Reynolds said this film has been in production for 11 years, it would seem that the long wait helped the film, because by the time they finally made it, everybody involved wanted to get it right.

Deadpool is genuinely hilarious film, by that I mean there are multiple times where everybody in the theater laugh hysterically. The film is even funnier for those that love, and know all about comic book films, because it makes snide comments about the studio and the genre all throughout. Fans of the character will appreciate the fact that Deadpool doesn’t pull any punches, it’s hilarious from the opening credits to the post credits scene. On top of that Reynolds comedic chops are perfectly complemented by the foul mouthed anti-hero.

It shouldn’t come as any kind of a surprise that Deadpool is a metafilm, as the character’s trademarks are breaking the fourth wall, and poking fun at other comic book characters. The film manages to avoid being cliched, because of it’s metafilm approach and while not dodging all cliches it winks when it uses one. For those that have seen or genuinely obsess over comic book films, the film is littered with snide pokes at the genre, and a warning for those interested these pokes come early and often. The film is witty to a fault, and honors the character perfectly.

From the hilarious opening of the film to the post credits scene the pacing of the film is frenetic. The film begins with a bang, and brilliantly tells it’s story in a non-linear format that keeps the film from ever feeling slow. It would have been nice if the low budget hadn’t been so noticeable, despite the fact that it gives Deadpool plenty of fodder. One thing that seemed poorly done was the Colossus character, because he’s featured in the other X-Men films as a completely different character in look and personality.
In the end lovers of the deadpool character will love the film, because it’s faithful to everything the character embodies. The film is smart, funny, well-paced, and builds off Reynolds performance to make a genuinely entertaining film. The film has a few small flaws that are few and far between, but overall succeeds in respectfully bringing “The Merc with a Mouth” to the big screen. Note that this film is very mature, but when looking for a great film for an adult’s night out this film is perfect.… Expand

Deadpool is a classic example; it knows that it is a cartoonish, over-the-top superhero self-parody that gleefully pokes fun at itself, it's audience, superheroes, and popular culture in general, and it does so with style and charm. The film is violent, vulgar, and funny in turns, perfectly in keeping with the titular character himself, and it's clear the film makers "get" what Deadpool is about.

Ryan Reynolds is clearly having a ball playing the character he was perhaps always destined to since he played Hannibal King in Blade Trinity, and his enthusiasm for the project is clear in everything he does. Also worthy of note is the direction of Tim Miller, who did an excellent job for a first time director, filming better action sequences than many far more experienced directors I could think of. Both men deserve huge credit, as it's clear that the film simply wouldn't have ever been made without their determination to make it happen.

The only real criticisms one could really hold against it are a that it has fairly basic story once you allow for the time jumping, that the villain is pretty bland and not well explained, and that some of the CGI (mainly Colossus) is kind of low rent. But in the end, none of those issues ultimately detract in any significant way from what is an engaging, genuinely funny, and thoroughly enjoyable super anti-hero romp.

Having said all that, it's also fair to say that Deadpool is not for everyone. There is no doubt that this film will rub some people the wrong way. The R18 rating is not misplaced, so if you dislike graphic violence, nudity, cursing, and puerile humour, this is probably one to avoid. Maybe don't take your mum to see it.… Expand
