Fun and enjoyable but understand, this isn't high brow comedy, it's Will Ferrell. Lot's of slapstick, some cliche jokes but it works and if you enjoy this type of humor, it's worth seeing.

Surprise, surprise it was pretty funny, a little slap stick, a few groans, but we smiled/laughed a lot, it held our interest & we enjoyed it. Yes, it was very silly & fairly predictable, but nonetheless heartwarming in a cliche kind of way. Essentially about a dad & step-dad working to maintain a cohesive buddy relationship for the benefit of the kids. They deal with conflicts around the multi-family relationships ... both old & new. Good chemistry between Ferrell & Wahlberg, especially liked one daughter she was a hoot, and you knew there was much love between them all. John Lithgow is great but Gibson was just kind of creepy. A funny Christmas movie, though I wouldn't say it is for kids. Expand

Wahlberg and Ferrell exude oodles of chemistry as two men in competition with one another in this lighthearted romp about fatherhood, which is little more than an extended set of good cop, bad cop. There's more than a smile and a chuckle here.

Will’s character is looked down on by his kids, his boss, and his acquaintances. Mark’s character is the exact opposite. He has what appears to be an easy time in all he does.

This being the crux of the film tends to run out of steam about half way through the film. OK, how much horrible can you make this guy’s life while boosting this other guy? Finally, near the end, the joke does an about-face which saves the joke and the movie. It’s like an SNL skit that was allowed to run for too long (and we’ve all seen those).

Returning in clever and fresh comedy, Wahlberg and Ferrell might just be the best surprise duo in comedy.

Mark Wahlberg is a wild card, he can deliver a gripping performance and worthy of award statue, then stuffs like Max Payne and The Happening happen. Fortunately, he seems to find the correct comical niche with Will Ferrell as their second collaboration produces a kind of sleeper hit. Daddy's Home uses all the awkward instances of unorthodox family and turns them into a witty charming comedy.

Brad (Will Ferrell) is the providing stepdad who understandably feels intimidates when the biological father Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) shows up unexpectedly. The two compete in both subtle and blunt fights for dominance which only make matter worse for them. In serendipitous manner, similar to The Other Guys, both leads have strangely synced chemistry. They make very good characters from people expectation of macho and timid roles, then completely alter them to make a clever parody.

Majority of the humor comes from the teasing of typical family comedy, yet it goes entirely in different way. There are moments where they banter about dramatic events or familiarly awkward situation in such exaggerated satirical tone. A few crude jokes are also played in expense of the characters' manhood or dignity, it's cringe-worthy yet hilariously drawing.

Support characters perform nicely as well. Thomas Haden Church as the insensitive boss and Hannibal Buress as a truly random character Griff would pop out of nowhere manly to instigate or add salt to injury. With this kind of brash tone, a few of the scene might seem forced yet it usually ends up in the movie's favor due to timely satire.

Daddy's Home is smarter than average family comedy, it's a scintillating medium for parody and it fully capitalizes on Wahlberg and Ferrell's enigmatic chemistry.

The problem I had with this film is it's a mediocre comedy with bland performances, but it's a good comedy. Will Ferrell plays Brad Taggart a radio executive, who has a big heart and wants to be the best step-father ever to his wife's (Linda Cardellini) two children (Scarlett Estevez and Owen Vaccaro). When her bad boy ex-husband Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) comes back to town, Brad feels insecure about him being there, Dusty wants to get back together with Sarah, so him and Brad have a competition on who wins the family. Dusty demonstrates his flair for athletics, home repair and bad boy charisma. So Brad finds himself in a tough situation to battle one-up his rival and win his family. Despite wasting talented comedy stars Will Ferrell and Mark Whalberg, they make bland performances, but they make this movie rock, still an enjoyable film despite it's a mediocre PG-13 comedy. 3 out 5 stars Expand

Seeking to recapture the terrific chemistry that Messrs. Ferrell and Wahlberg had in the film "The Other Guys", Mr. Ferrell plays a sweet and mild mannered husband and step-dad married to Mr. Wahlberg’s ex-wife. The film examines the inevitable conflict that exists between the divorced biological father who wants to retain some identity with his kids in spite of the step-dad now occupying the family residence. Obviously a subject more serious than comedic, the film tries to interject humor and to a certain extent succeeds. It is a light and easy film to watch with no great surprises enriched by the pleasant demeanor and screen presence of Mr. Ferrell. I give the film a 6 with the warning that it needn’t be on your must see list of films for 2015. Expand

It might not hit the high hilarity moments of their previous collaboration, but there is still plenty of amusement to be found here. Not to mention quite a bit of heart.

The best part is that it manages to stay sweet and touching without getting sappy or getting in the way of it's jokes. This competition for the favor of the children gets pretty crazy. Some of the best gags were spoiled in the trailer, and it does get off to a rather slow start, but once things pick up it stays consistently amusing throughout.

One thing that can't go understated is how great Hannibal Buress and Thomas Hayden Church are in their supporting roles. The bring in almost as many laughs as the two leads. The best part is that basically all of their material wasn't spoiled before hand.

Daddy's Home stumbles a bit from time to time, and yes those trailers were quite revealing, but Wahlberg and Ferrell come together once again with (mostly) satisfying results. With a strong and (most importantly) funny supporting cast backing them up they manage to overcome the majority of the movie's stumbles.

Step-dad versus stepped-in dad.

In the past for an action movie, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg came together and now for a comedy, once again the unusual combo returned. Surprisingly the movie was more hilarious than what I thought after listening to those who saw it already. Being a comedian, Will Ferrell was as usual awesome, but Wahlberg contribution had an equally advantageous.

The story was a one liner, but individual comedy scenes made an impact for its grand scale success. Generally, the scenes from the comedy films are easy to predict, so in this I felt similarly, but in the many parts it kept turning in another direction. Tried its best to avoid cliches, but we know that's impossible. Either way, it carried out some decent laughs.

The movie was all about the dad versus the step-dad. When a man thinks he's finally getting along with his step-kids, then comes their real dad who threatens to take aback his wife and children. So they go head-to-head and followed by a chain of life changing events comes a suitable conclusion. But there's a loop in the end, so possibly we can expect a sequel. Knowing it was not the best comedy of the year, I was not upset either for overall movie. I can even suggest it if you are looking for a simple entertainment.

The jokes don't really come in until the second half of the film as the film spends too much time on the premise of the film but hardly any time on the jokes of the film. The jokes on that matter are also pretty lame, with only a few making me mildly laugh. The direction of the film is also off and no real chemistry is felt within the casts, with the film just fluctuating it's character plot lines in different directions all over the place and just making the viewing nauseating. On the plus side Thomas Haden Church (Leo Holt) and Hannibal Buress (Griff) were actually the funniest parts of the film, playing their parts pretty well despite being minor characters. Overall this film is a major let down and not really worth the watch, which i am quite sad to say. A film to see if there's nothing else on or if it perhaps pops up on tv.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have good comedic chemistry, if you need real proof look no further than The Other Guys, this isn’t quite as funny. If you’re hoping for something like The Other Guys, these two films share a few similaritiesWill Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have good comedic chemistry, if you need real proof look no further than The Other Guys, this isn’t quite as funny. If you’re hoping for something like The Other Guys, these two films share a few similarities but are ultimately very different films. Daddy’s Home has its stretches of good humor, but ultimately drags on, and offers nothing really new to the comedy genre. It should be clarified that the film has a good amount of humor, so if that’s the main concern Daddy’s Home should deliver.
The comedic premise of this film is exactly the same as The Other Guys, in that Will Ferrell plays a bland man while Mark Wahlberg brings some chaos into his life. The film is fairly funny and proves that there’s still water in that well, for the moment. The film has a fun tone, that’s infectious, even the most serious people could find themselves smiling during stretches of the film. However, these stretches are too inconsistent.
The film is only an hour and a half but feels more like a two-hour film. While many of the film’s gags work, many other gags feel like long stretches of awkwardness, that just drag on. To further that, while the film is funny, it’s never hilarious, or belly-aching funny. The film ultimately leaves a feeling of emptiness, because it tries to be funny, but ultimately fails for stretches, and drags on.
Maybe the worst thing the film does is what it doesn’t do, which is offer any original concepts to the comedy genre. When you get so many talented people working together and you get jokes that are rehashes from previous films they did or rip-offs of Bridesmaids jokes, it’s disappointing. The film is dumb, in the sense of logic within the story, but also in terms of effort, as a film that only rehashes old jokes is just lazy. It seems unfortunate that the filmmakers couldn’t make a denser story to fill the framework of the film.
In the end, if you’re looking for a comedy that has a good amount of laughs in it, that you can watch with the family, Daddy’s Home will get the job done. However, if you’re searching for the next great comedy, that offers new ideas to the somewhat cliched comedy genre, this isn’t it. In the end, Daddy’s Home is somewhat funny, features good chemistry from it’s two leads, and has some decent character development, but fails on the originality test.

Good comedy and wasn't to vulgar for younger kids. There are a few parts you might have to cover a young ones ears but not bad. I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to. Hilarious and good entertainment.

A new low for Will Ferrell, and that's saying a lot. Whatever funny parts of this movie exist, you've already seen them in the trailer. No humor, no wit, complete lack of a plot. Don't waste your time.

Reminds me, not in plot, but in the humor level of Vacation – also released this year. Strangely enough, I always get corraled into seeing these horrible movies knowing full well in advance that they are truly a waste of time.

Falling asleep in a movie theater is really quite rare for me. I love movies – analyzing them, watching them, loving them. But when I should be fully awake and alert, Daddy's Home quite literally made me want to not be there, hence the nap. Cringe-worthy humor piled with a plot too gimmicky for (almost) anyone to enjoy. The exception being boys with the maturity level of an 8-year old.

Perhaps it is because I have no step-parents, but this idea of daddy wars does not appeal to me in the slightest. Every kid wants to feel love and adored, but not in the way that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg can offer. Their dynamic was possibly the only interesting aspect of the movie.

Decent comedy and if you are a fan of Ferell's comedy movies you will really enjoy this one too. As I am not too crazy about him I liked it but wasn't that huge of a fan of it. Still worth a watch though.

"Ferrell: Good Daddy - Wahlberg: Bad Daddy" Who won the battle of this indecisive comedy?

The first mistake of this film is seen with the naked eye, Why Daddy's Home? ¡Mediocre!. It would have been much better with "Daddy's War" adapting more to the plot of the film between a dad exemplary and a daddy not exemplary.

The participation of Ferrell in this shaky project (years ago, in something similar, interpreted by Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon) is without a doubt unstable. This man is in charge of doing good and deep comedies and Mark on the other hand, it is responsible to make comedies empty but the blockbuster (Ted - Ted 2). What comes out of this mixture? Visually, Ferrell is influenced by the attitude of its imposing and rockstar co - star.

Perhaps, the paternity's issue is adopted quite well the two stars, Dusty wanting to have more to his wife that his own children, tries it with bribes and telling fantastic stories and Brad being a good stepfather trying to overcome his enemy.

Linda Cardellini joins to Ferrell with her performance totally abstract, Interpreting a hopeful mother in pregnancy and executing the function of balance, she has to be balanced in part and part.

The "Other Guys" duo are reattached to give us something that can be called "Comedy". At the present time, the subject of divorce is easy in fury, and "Daddy's Home" takes advantage of these situations.

Undoubtedly, the part more exciting in a film in which two men fight for their children is the 'fight'. It's very striking is the 'VS' in this movie. War events are fun and hilarious and often it is the best of all the run - time. Really aimed a few aspects, little we can squint. it is tortuous but at the same time enjoyable and even a bit heartwarming. So the film is fun until the moment that it becomes irritating. 'DH' promised much and it looked very interesting leading our excitement to the top of the thermometer, after 96 minutes, out of the film room feels like a bucket of water cold, all our excitement disappears and makes us think: "Whoa!! It was good, but in all aspects could be explored much more"

Will Farrell's innocent persona went over well in "Elf" but it's gotten old. Will portrays it again in this movie and makes it a "here we go again" movie. The story is interesting and could have been taken to a higher level.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg may have surprised us in the Other Guys, but their second comeback together in Daddy's Home doesn't really help them gain the fame they got from the Other Guys.

Daddy's home is a mix of humour and boredom. There are scenes which are uplifting and quite hilarious. Then there are scenes which drag on for no reason. I would suggest it's a film you watch with your friends rather than parents.

The best part was seeing Mark Wahlberg being punched in the face (I assumed it was for how bad the film is). But If you like having meanings of being a Father rammed down your throat then by all means you'll love it, but if you are looking for relatable jokes, slapstick comedy and cringe worthy moments... Then expect to be monumentally disappointed by the lack of all those comedic elements that make a good comedy. I do think the age rating should be 15 due to quite a lot of bad language, but this is not effecting my thoughts on the film it's just if you are looking for a film that is family friendly. I would not recommend unless you are a die hard Ferrell or Wahlberg fan. Expand

It has a sizable amount of laughs, but it also has plenty dumb jokes like what you would expect from a movie like this, and it kind of derails in the third act. Not an overall bad experience, but I've seen much better.

But it seriously was one of the worst movies of 2015. The only reason I am reviewing this is because a sequel is releasing in 2017. This needs to stop. So let’s talk about it.

Let’s talk about the things I like.

The Heart and Ambition: It had a good heart and ambition. Someone wanted this to be something heartwarming and memorable. And there are some memorable moments. Despite the end product, you can tell that there was someone in the cast and crew that cared about this movie. Someone wanted to make a good heartwarming movie. In fact, there are even some laughable moments probably from coming this someone. But these good aspects got shrouded through terrible ideas possibly created from a superior other.

Now here is the list of the things I did not like.

The Humor: Humor in movies are fine. If a joke or gag in not funny, it is fine; it does not affect my opinion of the movie. If a joke or gag is funny, then I appreciate the movie. However, if a joke or gag is terribly executed to the point where it becomes annoying, then I do not like it; I despise it. This movie had a lot of jokes and gags that were annoying. It was head achingly annoying. Running gags and annoying jokes take up a majority of this movie and really take away the fun in comical moments in the minority of this movie. This aspect is the main reason why I do not want another movie like this. You are probably reading this because you want to know how was this movie and how will the next movie be. This movie was annoying and for next: do not expect anything funny; just pointless annoying scenes. The Acting: Mark Walberg really tried to bring life to this movie, but he comes off as trying too hard for a movie that is too is annoying and lifeless already. Will Ferrell adds to the infuriating annoyance. The other performances do not add anything. They do things that are at times against their character and do not make any sense. The other characters are usually tied to running gags and pointless scenes. They are basically plot devices. Characters can be plot devices, but this prevents important characters from being fleshed out into interesting and well-bodied characters. In a comedy, all characters don’t need to be fleshed out; a comedy just needs to make people laugh in order to be acceptable. If the movie fails at making people laugh for a majority of the movie (like this one), then there needs to be other redeeming qualities.  But no redeeming qualities are in sight since the acting is flat as a 1-year old can of soda. However, I mainly blame the writer for the poor acting. The Writing: This is a poorly written comedy. The writer does not show his talent in writing. He cannot pace the story well. He writes in pointless annoying scenes that do nothing but merely attempt to make the audience laugh. He appears not to know how to write a good comedy. There is fake and forced conflict. All conflicts are forced in a movie, but if it is obvious to the people that movie’s universe is forced, then the writer failed at bringing something engaging. He only appears to know how to write a meaningless dribble-filled comedy. I may not be a writer; I am just a random person on the internet but the writing is obviously flat. You can still enjoy a movie if it does not have perfect writing. But this movie is not enjoyable in any other medium.
Product Placement: The meaning of this movie is too shove as many products down the viewers’ throats. Now, there is blatant commercial advertising for Ford and other companies. Movies can have product placement. But, if it is very blatantly obvious, then it becomes annoying. And this movie is annoying

Conclusion:
This movie was annoying, but there were some laughs and there was some heart. I feel like this was only used to make money and place as many advertisements as they can. Their plan goes like this: It does not matter if there is any good writing, acting, or humor: all that matters is to place as many movie stars and celebrities to create enough money and place enough products. Now, a movie can be used to make money. But I believe it is that desire that caused this movie to be so transparent of its flaws and to become evidently annoying. That ideology is killing good movies; maybe Daddy’s Home could have been something special. But Daddy’ Home is flat, uninspired and pointless. You can still enjoy it. But as a random person on the internet: I despise this movie. I only hope that the Daddy’s Home 2 will be slightly better, but I would say do not expect much.
