worst MCU movie so far. A number of very racist scenes. Every time there was something which could be fun and exciting, you're left questioning nonsensical writing/direction or terrible delivery.

I honestly watched this expecting it to be a seat squirming, slow motion car crash of an experience (but you know, make the effort it's MCU cannon and I should probably watch this before end game).
It was actually very watchable, yes it has about 45 seconds of the equivalent of female gillette advert thrown in twice, which was excessive and unnecessary. But story wise and acting wise it was good (certainly towers over DC's wonder woman), I'd have preferred Brie Larson to have payed the part a bit more starkly authoritarian, to aid the future dynamics of MCU, but I suspect the intention was to make her character more relatable even if this meant deviating from the source material, "shoot first ask question later" nature.
Finally this film is no where near as WOKE as it's detractors would have you believe.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was utter trash it was filled with fourth wave feminist propaganda and also the writing and the direction of the film fell flat no character development with Carol Danvers at all. This is by far the worst Marvel movie in the MCU due to Disney only pushing for a woke agenda instead of making a good film like they used to the past 10 years. Brie Larson is bad as an actress in this film. Expand

Captain marvel was the worst marvel movie that I have ever seen, and I would even go so far as to say that it's the worst movie I've ever seen in my whole life. Absolutely everything about it is terrible. The vfx look like a camel did them blindfolded. The writing is about as lazy and unmotivated as a water balloon. The acting is comparable only to a wet towel. In both of my viewings of this film (if you can even call it that) I have never found a single justifiable component. The hulk is better. The incredible hulk is better. Spiderman far from home is better. The expired jar of peanut butter on my cupboard is better. There are far too many things that are horrendously nauseating to list here. If you watch this everything else that happens in your life will seem amazing compared to to this.

Very good, it's entertaining.

I like the story that entails 'Captain Marvel'. It's possibly not told in the most incredible way, but by the end I did enjoy how it unfolded and connected to what we've seen recently in the MCU.

Brie Larson is pleasant in the lead role, a tad wooden in parts but overall I rate what she gives this film. It's cool to have Samuel L. Jackson's character get a deeper dive and bigger screen time than usual. I also liked Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. Other cast members, like Jude Law, are fine if forgettable.

Everything else about this is basically what you'd normally get from an MCU production: strong action, great effects, solid humour and an interesting plot. This 21st film from the universe is a good'un!

The fact this movie exists
The fact that the color that most resembles her suit is the color of the average viewer ratings
The fact they wasted such a good origin story for Nick Fury's enigmatic eyepatch on a slapstick simple joke.
The fact this could cover for 0.00004028571 of the US National debt, which is still more than the combined box office earnings of the top 10 grossing movies of 2020.
Or the fact that after all this pile of horse dump, she still lost against mad Titan Thanos all thanks to a tiny little purple rock. Anyways, I'm thankful she saved Tony Stark from space doom, so she gets a 1. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to save him from his destiny so, still a 0.

Oh dear I’m going to p*ss off a lot of people with this review. I honestly didn’t have a ton of problems with this movie. And before you call me an SJW or anything like that. I am a conservative person who happened to enjoy this movie. I understand that you’re exhausted of politics in film, But vote rigging down the “Want To See” score on Rotten Tomatoes is not going to fix anything and is a bit unfair. But that’s not the point of this review (I had to say it to give the fans a message), The story while not perfect is decently written and the performances of Jackson and Mendelson are terrific (Though Larson is decent).

It’s not the true end technically but it almost has that feel. Endgame will be the final time we see Iron Man, Captain America, and maybe even Thor again on the big screen. Captain Marvel shows the future of phase four and beyond that she will share with the likes of Spider Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and many others. I will start by saying that going into this film, I didn’t know anything about Captain Marvel. Never read any of her comics and didn’t know her background so this film was a complete surprise in story and character to me so basically I went into it with completely fresh eyes. The film opens right away with a nightmare from Vers aka Carol Danvers (played by the lovely Brie Larson). We experience her in a plane crash with a alien approaching her with a flash of white light as she gets shot at. This scene is a central part of the films entire story and third act. She then shares scenes with Yon-Rogg (Jude Law) during some fight training leading into their first battle as a group with Djimon Hounsou (playing his same character from Guardians of the Galaxy) and Gemma Chan. The films first act does suffer from some confusing sequences and I did find myself a little confused and scattered with how the first 25 minutes of the film was laying out the story. I don’t know if was the editing or how the script laid out the structure but it’s not something that is a problem for Marvel films usually. Once Carol crashes on Earth, that’s when the film gets going. We are treated to many funny sequences especially one where she crash lands into a Blockbuster Video and this is because the film takes place in the year 1995. I will say that this really makes me miss having them around. Her scenes with Sam Jackson are some of the best moments. They jump from set piece to set piece with hilarious banter and action sequences. We get to know why this working relationship was such a crucial part to the end credit sequence in the end of Infinity War. Now, some people maybe asking how well the de-aging special effects work in the film. As you know, Sam Jackson and Clark Gregg needed to be de-aged for the film due to it taking place more then 20 years before the events in The Avengers. I am glad to say that Sam Jackson’s de-aging looks flawless. They did a fantastic job and can hardly tell that any effects were used on his face at all. The same can’t be said for Clark Gregg as many scenes due look a little to CG on his face, especially some expressions. It’s defintely nowhere near as bad as Tron Legacy de-aging though but I forgive it in that film because that’s when this effect work was just starting. It has come a long way. I have heard some people upset with Brie Larson’s performance here. I can admit at first, I wasn’t fully buying into her. When we look at past Marvel films, stars like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. were just beyond perfect playing Captain America and Iron Man. They just fit the roles so perfectly. Like I said before, I don’t know much about Captain Marvel so I can’t make a comparison. As the film goes on, Brie Larson starts to feel more and more like the character I would imagine her to be and by the end, I couldn’t wait to see her in the upcoming “Avengers Endgame”. Every moment in third act bridges our journey to Endgame (make sure to watch the end credit scene). All in all, Captain Marvel is another good addition to the Marvel Universe and definitely makes you wonder if the sequel will show us the War on Kree. Phase four of Marvel is headed in a great direction and Endgame can’t come fast enough with a worthy addition of Captain Marvel.

Grade: B

I think a lot of these very low reviews are people who are entirely prejudiced against the actress for things she did not say, which are based on things that were taken out of context in some way. Additionally, and this defies all logic, they simply did not want a female led superhero film from Marvel. Either way, even with some aspects of the film I did not care for, it was a fun, action driven film that makes me even more impatient for Avengers: Endgame to get here. Leaving all the other crap that was going on surrounding the weeks leading up to the movies release. It really isn't that bad of a movie. The main problem which I think alot of others had with the actual movie is that the movie and script were both filmed and written to fit the 1995 time era, hence many scenes seeming so cringeworthy! the CGI was not as well implemented as I would have hoped but and it was a marvel to watch the various action scenes in the movie non the less (no pun intended). With respect to the leads acting skill, I do not think she is bland but rather the character was written that way to fit in with the Kree warrior being an emotionless being. All in all I enjoyed the film better when understanding the cinematography and writing's time era. Word to the wise, 2 end credit scenes, the mid credits is the one to stay for, Youtube the other! Decided to fill my only gap in the MCU over the quarantine, and what did I get?

Larson's smug snout and constant overacting. Bland inconsequential stereotypical story with one twist that is seen from miles away. Main character is a cardboard cutout with inexplicably way too much power. As per the norm with Marvel bubble gum movies, this lacks any directorial style, the action fails to generate a drop of adrenaline, and the editing is messy. The story of how Fury lost his eye is diminished to some lame joke. Coleson's involvement is minimal.

Law, as usual, performs well, but lacks a proper script, and Jackson is one of the few bright-ish spots in this mess. How did it get a billion?

If the goal was to make the MCU less appealing to the masses, this is a recipe for how to do just that. If the goal is to make a career for yourself in the woke minority circles of Hollywood, well, then you nailed it.

Bad start leads to a much better second half. Basically, I liked the film, but it had some problems at the beginning.

If you don't know the background, it is not easy to understand everything at the beginning, it is a bit confusing staged and written. With the arrival on Planet C-53, however, the film begins to pick up speed.

Brie Larson and Samual L Jackson in particular have great buddy chemistry that really sustains the film. In addition, a pleasant twist that makes the film much more exciting and a secret star in the form of a cat.

Ultimately better than some other Marvel films, but also not as outstanding as most of the good to very good Marvel movies.

It's the reason Superman is my favorite superhero. But I digress.

Good chemistry between Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, who spend a big chunk of the movie together. Both fantastic actors. We also get to see a well done de-aged Samuel L. Jackson because the action takes place in the past. There is a big twist that completely changes the movie. Took me by surprise. Can't wait to see the sequel in 2022.

But it's unfortunate Captain Marvel is yet another movie that has been review-bombed solely for political reasons by angry insecure manchildren because Brie Larson committed wrongthink by being a feminist. Captain Marvel still passed $1 billion at worldwide box office. Lol!

Mary Sue hero who can beat anyone’s ass no problem, she does not act like a hero she acts like a super villain and threatens to mortally wound any white man who dares find her attractive. they gender swapped Mar-VELL, now he’s an old bag instead of the OG Superhero Captain Marvel. Monica Rambeau, who was Captain Marvel before carol danvers, is now some little snot nose kid who looks up to her, the only thing keeping this from being worse than the bs the MCU pulls with Iron Spider-Boy Jr. is the character of monica is nowhere near as loved and popular as spider-man. Nick fury loses his eye in the most pathetic loser way and they play it off as a joke. The fight choreography is horrible, who came up with it? A little kid who like to play with action figures? Brie Larson can not act, she stands there lifeless like she is about to get an autopsy, just looking at everyone with the penance stare, I thought this was Captain Marvel not Ghost Rider. The music is so excruciatingly horrible, it melted my ear wax and made me temporarily hard of hearing. The final battle is disappointing, no there is no final battle she just blast the dudes ass. This was so bad, I had to sneak into another theatre and watch another movie just to not feel like I got finessed for those tickets. This is the worst retcon in the history of cinema. Kevin Feige must be fired from Marvel, and then sued for his underwear and his toilet paper, before he burns it to the ground. This is the worst mcu film and it’s not even refutable. If u disagree, you are only proving that you must be arrested and flown out to a deserted island to be dropped off, and live alone with nothing but leaves to wipe your butt hole with because you are a danger to civilization, and can not be trusted Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went in with zero expectations and was blown away. I love this movie! I have since watched it a dozen times to analyze it (a hobby of mine).

Ignore the lowest reviews that cite SJW nonsense. I’m a white man in my 40s, and I 100% agree with what Brie Larson ACTUALLY SAID about movie reviewers. The offense taken at her statements—which have been viewed completely out of context—led many racist and sexist trolls to try to ruin this film before anyone saw it. They failed, and I’m glad.

This is NOT just a movie about girl power. Carol Danvers is absolutely not OP from the start, nor is she “wooden” and “emotionless.” Carol goes through quite a journey of self rediscovery and realization of the forces that have abused and exploited her for years.

This film has all the elements of a great superhero film, and does it in a way that both fits well into the MCU and shows young girls that they can be heroes, too, no matter how many times they are knocked down by the world.

And guys, Nick Fury did NOT lose his eye to “a cat.” Pay attention!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only marvel movie in which I actively dislike seeing the title character on screen. Captain Marvel comes off as arrogant and annoying, and although I think most of Brie Larson's bad acting was the studio's fault, she definitely could have done better. The female power arc is ruined when her careless, ignorant arrogance is proven right instead of showing that she had more power than she ever thought she did and showing that she had been being suppressed the whole time. Because of what Jude Law's shallow character was trying to teach her in the beginning, about how self control is important, when she realizes that she has even more power than she thought, the message she learns ends up being "as long as you have enough power, self control doesn't matter at all." She is too reliant on her overpowered abilities instead of her character, her powers and her character are completely separate things. She received them by accident and everyone just got lucky that she was a good person. The humor wasn't very good, seemed like attempted Stark style humor that just didn't work. There was very little emotion in her character at all, she doesn't even hesitate when she has to battle her squad, who are the only people she remembers knowing at that point and her family for her whole remembered life. There's not much to the plot but it's not awful. The action isn't great, I found it kind of boring. A couple things I do like are the special effects, especially with the Kree tech and the Skrulls, and the idea of the Skrull shapeshifters themselves, especially Ben Mendelsohn's Talos. There were some funny parts, specifically the old lady fight on the train and Goose's killing spree, and I did like Carol's relationship with Maria and Monica. Definitely my least favorite Marvel movie, but I'm not going to vow to never watch it again like Rise of Skywalker. Expand

Everything full of disgusting nazi-feminism of the Larson (overrated actress) that can't even change facial expression and show her arrogant superiority against everything not female.
Even the villain can't stand a chance because she's superior, there's no character development, only a nazi-feminist that treat everyone with arrogance without any point.
She gain the powers not understanding something that allow her to evolve as a character...she simply break a chip behind the neck, knowing that the chip put a limit over her powers SINCE THE BEGINNING of the movie...that's a nosense climax.

As an old fan of Marvel comics, there are serious implication here. The plot is very very different from the original, but Capitain Marvel movie must be seen as a complement of the whole MCU - This is a not a stand alone movie and in fact I saw this movie as a introduction of Marvel to the End Game. Yes, it's not the best MCU movie and shouldn't BE, since it's a middle story of an epic (for me the best of all times) -> "Avengers infinity war" - If you take all the content and story acting int the MCU context that makes the whole sense and also leads me to think what will come next on the Endgame - for me Mar-Vell in the comics as much in the MCU isn't a forgettable movie. I rather say that in the MCU context it is a twist, and I love the hang cliff twisted stories. It just ads spice.

ps: what if in the End game we could see inside the quantum reality, the comics reality portrait into a parallel universe of the MCU, where the things goes differently. What if? #mymindisblowing comics be a parallel universe of the MCU, Doctor strange might know better than us :D (don't blame me but I love this!!!!)
