I don't think there is a worse movie than this one, very boring, the action is one of the worst in history, the acting is bad, the first movie was much better

Has some standout acting but also some terrible acting as well.
Some interesting worldbuilding, but also many cliched boring depiction of governments, countries and many characters outside of the Wakandians.
Features a horrible new adolescent character that can do anything, has no flaws and is a self-promotional setup for future movies/shows.
Main problem of the movie? It just drags.
Ultimately, the primary thing holding this movie back is that, like its title, it goes on forever.

The story was expected, from Marvel Standards, but the world they brought from the sea people was actually quite interesting and spooky. It was the resonance towards Shiri's struggle with the throne and the loss of her family members which gave this movie incredible life. I don't think its at Endgame level, but its certainly the most emotional they've done since then. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was sceptical of the first movie because of the way Hollywood was marking the movie; I ended up loving it and it became one of my favorite Marvel movies. Ryan Coogler was two for two as far as I was concerned; Fruitvale Station was amazing and Black Panther was too. Coogler insanely became a director I was going to look out for and eventhough some of his work didn't initially grab me, I was gonna seek out everything he had been involved with, then I watched Wakanda Forever. I hate this movie so much. I don't who's fault it is but this movie is a disgrace. I can't believe it made what it did at the boxoffice. Trash. Great trailer. I was super amped. So disappointed. They better revisit how T'Challa died, like it better be a main plot for a future Marvel project, that more is revealed. Like Skrulls killed him or some other big bad. Ironheart didn't belong in this film and those stupid suits Shuri made, so stupid. Also I'm tired of the MCU underpowering and undeserving characters(Namor)! Expand

What a waste of my time I watched to see where they can take this and left feeling empty there only focuse was to have diversity and strong female leads and every one that is white/men are just irrelevant, namor is atlantean he came before aquaman the excuse that you didn't want fans to get them confused is stupid! you just wanted a reason to race swap or in this case species swap him and you add in how white people did terrible things to his people/land and that's why he hates humans you try to justify his actions by making it relatable but that's just weak/lazy writing and I was supposed connect with shuri and rout for her but why do I feel like I know her less or not at all. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Ryan Coogler is able to transmit the sincerity and pain of grief through Shuri, who grows and matures into her own character due to the trauma of losing someone close to your heart. I always enjoy when an MCU film decides to let its audience breathe and hold onto the emotions being conveyed on screen. Namor is a good character that I hope to see more of, you can feel his ruthless presence but also the compassion that his humanity offers. My only complaint is that in order to improve the pacing of the film , I would've cut out Iron Heart from the film as that storyline was a bit rushed. Overall, the Black Panther mantle will live on and the success of this film is undeniable. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So you go onto Twitter only to see a tweet from... Chadwick Boseman!? Yes you heard me right they turned a dead guy into marketing for this gosh damned movie just like Stan Lee for NFT's marvel sure likes to use dead guys to market unfiltered Scheme like this. let's check it out.

So the bad guy is a genocidal maniac who wants to kill everyone who hasn't drunken the funny purple juice as long as they cooperate.

The 'good guys' want to keep the peace, apparently by promising to give resources to the rest of the world. Then not giving the resources to the rest of the world. yeah, remember the end of the first black panther where Wakanda promised to give resources to help the world, yeah that's completely scrapped.

So the movie opens with Shuri trying to save her brother, then he dies. The metaness is insane. Then it cuts to a funeral where people are wearing white and smiling and dancing in slow motion, then the coffin of chad- I mean Thchalla gets beamed up into the sky.

So this is a bit too meta as in extremely meta,
So Tchalla hid his chronic illness from everyone
Just like Chadwick
Tchalla died from a chronic illness
Just like Chadwick
See what I mean.

So to skip forward a little bit, Shuri and Romanda encounter Namor at a river, and he threatens that if they don't find and kill the girl who made the vibranium detector he will invade Wakanda.

Speaking of the vibranium detector let's speak about that, it's fairly simple it detects vibranium somehow.

So Shuri calls Everett Ross a colonizer then goes to find Everett Ross the (most heroic person in the first film) and they ask him who made the machine, which leads them to RI Williams the Iron Man replacement and McMuffin of this film

Ri Williams is an inventor and in her own words "young gifted and black" certainly gifted since she managed to make a vibranium detector despite being in college and having never even touched vibranium.

Anyway they kidnap her and the police chase after them, and then they kill all the police then encounter Namors goons at a bridge where Shuri and RI gets kidnapped by Namors goons then basically nothing happens for 30 minutes and then Shari and RI get kidnapped, and they get into a submarine in Wakanda. Yes a landlocked nation has a navy. Then a big fight happens and somehow the genocidal maniac switches sides in 1 minute.

So that was trash.

If I forgot anything, it's probably because I didn't rewatch the movie to write this.

Oh and also Letitia Wright is not good enough in physical stature to play black panther and Namors actor is not imposing, and he has little wings on his feet, and he's in a green nappy, so he is really not intimidating at all the only thing that improves in this is Letitas acting and the CGI, it doesn't hold a candle to the original and that's hard to do since the original sucks Arch too.

Still, I was absolutely willing to enjoy the film and while it had its moments, it just didn't really keep my interest. The film suffers from a lack of main protagonist and central thesis and didn't feel like it really had one core narrative thread I could follow. Mainly, it felt like the entire film had no spine but rather large and overly-developed subplots that we would bounce back and forth to. That type of story structure can work for other films but I just didn't think it worked here. I also thought the film could've been significantly trimmed to focus in one the most important elements of the film. Instead, it felt way more bloated and drawn out than I thought was necessary. Overall, I don't think it's a bad film by any stretch of the imagination. It just felt without direction and a little lost. I would be intrigued by more but at this point, I'm still tired of superhero films generally so I'll pass. Expand

Following the death of T'Challa, Wakanda is under pressure from other nations to share their vibranium, with some parties even attempting to steal it by force. Meanwhile a new foe emerges from beneath the ocean.

There was a time when I’d rush out to the cinema to see any new addition to the MCU, but that’s just not the case any more. Following the events of Endgame, I’ve found most of these movies a little bit dull (Spiderman: No Way Home being the only exception), and there just doesn’t seem to be any overarching narrative to keep things interesting. Whilst it’s far from terrible, Wakanda Forever can certainly be added to the list of disappointing MCU movies that essentially follows the same formula as all those that proceeded it. At this point Disney need a big shake up if we’re even going to get close to the heights of earlier movies.

I was disappointed. This film places it safe so safe that the plot itself dissolves, and the actions and scenes in the movie render itself pointless. You can skip this film entirely and not have missed anything at all.

Ratings forever,
Story and Plot: 6/10
Characters: 5/10
VFX and CGI: 6/10

Yeah, 6/10 overall, this is not a good film, nor is it bad, if some plot points and risks were fixed and used effectively this would have been good but none of that is here.
I personally do not want to see a Black Panther Film unless it has actual tension, and purpose behind it. And No the Death of Chadwick Boseman does not serve a purpose - May he Rest in Peace.

Disney and Marvel need to step it up, this story could have been insanely better, the purpose was to do better than the first movie and everyone behind the making of this film (narrative speaking) has failed, sadly.

Sequels are incredibly hard to do, but by today's standards, it should have been a walk in the park.

*Adjusted score from 6/10 to 5/10 after watching Shazam: Fury of the Gods.

- Marvel deseparately tries to force more movies after this one
- The german translation is so bad. They even didn't understand the title. "Wakanda forever" is translated to "Wakanda above all" - which makes zero sense in the movie, especially because they team up with another nation - so the "above all" makes even less sense.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m going to keep it very simple…I hope lol. I enjoyed the movie and I was happy seeing Shuri take up the mantle of BP (comic accurate for some). It really missed Chadwick Boseman. It’s no one’s fault but it needed the real BP RIP. If you were a fan it does give him a lot of respect and sends him off in tremendous fashion (if that makes sense.) It is very emotional. The opening scene is one of the best in the movie simply bc I felt like we lost Chadwick all over again. Expand

It seems like there were as many scenes comprised of noise as there were scenes with dialogue. Also, the story was not nearly as interesting as the first movie, not that any comic movies have much story. Overall the plot was monotonous and boring and none of the characters were interesting. And of course the movie was filled with woke themes including children disregarding the traditions of their culture, evil white people and female characters wearing man-face. I enjoyed the first movie considerable more, which is typical. Rarely is a sequel as good. Please do not make another movie in this series. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are parts of the movie that are very entertaining. There's also a bunch of things that happen that make little to no sense from a logic standpoint. Especially when considering the high level of intelligence the Wakandans are held in regards to the MCU. I found myself asking multiple times throughout the movie why they didn't just Cryo freeze T'Challa until they(Shuri) recreated the herb or found a cure to his illness. There were other things like that as well that had my mind thinking just why but that's the way they decided to do it. The most powerful moments in the film all involve T'Challa, even though he's not in it which cements how much his non presence is felt. I personally would have preferred the character to be recast but hopefully in the future, this multiverse aspect will allow for that. Expand

ONE MCU movie which is better than Thor 2 or Eternals.

but these costumes ... dude ... they are so ugly.

Partly really good story. partly crap.
the water scenes... aquaman was better. DC was there before with quality quite clear.
Danai Gurira played really well. absoulter hammer. Also Lupita. Angela Basset I found in the ratio even quite weak.
but really the worst thing are these costumes. no idea how that can/could win awards.
absolutely ugly. then these non-explanations. honestly i thought dominique thorne played riri really well.
but why can she now just be the next iron man??? if they had at least known each other. or at least said she was a big fan, was saved by him... something... but so. yes am n super brain and copy that just ... sorry mega bad story.
and then ironheart also looks like crap. since when does the black panther suit also have "Stark technology"?
Namor I found well played, well brought into the story. finale is so naja. but wait. could be good.
all in all very mixed. with ugliest costumes.

You know my issue with this is I appreciate that they are trying to portray us (black people) in a positive manner. But it really says a lot when you have to basically turn black people into aliens to portry us in a positive manner.

For example, and the whole premise of the girl at that college. Did we really need a black female Tony Stark? Just let the character be dead and remain unique. Don't insult the audience by replacing an iconic hero with a bad actor who is portraying a terribly written character.

I mean could we have not just gotten someone who earned their place based on merit? Why not an adult African American female, who has military experience, who has combat experience, and has a doctorate level education. And has simply just never gotten her chance to shine?

But of course we go with annoying teenage girl who just happens to be a genius for no reason. And also just happens to have access to unlimited resources for no reason. Oh this is just my warehouse full of tech.

Gosh that was so cringe.

On top of that, filmography is inferior to other Marvel movies, where they oddly choose to include so many low light scenes where it’s barely visible what is happening in the shot. These seems to be a common trend around bad content, like we saw with season 8 of Game of Thrones.

The young college girl is instantly better than any scientist in the Avengers, making an ironman suit faster than Tony Stark, building Vibranium detection machines that none of the avengers or Wakanda could build. I get that the movie wanted to make her seem valuable but this seems unrealistic even in this unrealistic world of super heroes.

Two of the characters are also given super suits that give super hero powers yet these suits dont change much in terms of how they fight. Yes, they fly now, but they still struggle to do one on one battles with low-level baddies. To top it all, the suits look like awkward Gundam mechs. The sound track is good and so is the acting.

The movie is also guilty of some cringy woke jokes, which seems to be an unfortunate trend in Hollywood’s guilty attempt to blame society for Hollywood’s recent past racist and sexist actions. For example, the Princess greeting Martin Short’s character as ‘There’s my favorite colonizer’. Yes, so blame a random white guy in 2022 of ‘colonizing’ which happened 100’s of years ago, good joke. I’m sure had another movie reversed the joke and a white guy said to a black girl ‘There’s my favorite slave’, people would be crying and protesting on the streets. Both Mayans and Africans practiced slavery long before white people but would Marvel in their desperate attempt to virtue signal ever bring that up? Definitely not. I think I would have liked this more if the movie didnt turn into the last 30 marvel movies, giving into every marvel troupe imaginable. Marvel is in desperate need of an overarching purpose, like with the Thanos arc. If I watch the same good movie being remade 30 times, it’s not interesting. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I was entertained by Captain Marvel more than this.

There is a female Zika virus victim as some kind of terrible Iron Man replacement! Puke!!!!
Embarrassing and disgusting!
End this now!

Eugh, it gets worse!
There is some kind of Aquaman substitute with baby pigeon wings sticking out of his ankles that somehow is supposed to make him Superman-like????? WTF???!!!???

Just awful!

Please delete this film from existence!!!!!

Really..... for real..... for actual real.... delete it from existence!!

Marvel are at serious risk of destroying the whole Iron Man and Avengers legacy with this.

The only way to fix the damage done to the success of the original Black Panther film would be to make a new "Black Panther 2" film, with a new actor cast as T'Challa - much like the Harry Potter films did with the Dumbledore character, or EVERY new James Bond actor!!!!

Then they could confine this sickening debauchery of cinema to the refuse bin - where it definitely belongs - and could even put it down to a mishap in a different universe, thanks to the multiverse concept.

I don't see any other way out of this mess.

An absolutely despicable thing to have made!

Yes the movie was primarily driven by females but it’s not like this was intentional. I think Wakanda Forever did a good job for the time they had to make sense of the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman. Yes the story of the new Black Panther took forever to come together but it was done with creativity. Glad the theme of the movie stuck to its musical and cultural roots like the first one, and Angela Bassett did put on a good performance.

Now the bad stuff, antagonist and his followers reminded me of Avatar….and their story involvement was underdeveloped. Also CGI overload was on display and it did have its cheesy moments. So it’s good to see at least once in your life.

Also during fights they throw guys from Talokan to the water like its a bad thing for them???... Shuri gets spear through her spine but obviously it is no big deal, she can still walk like nothing where on the other side they can't revive someone who just drowned, great logic :P

The story has a few weaknesses and Chadwick Boseman is deeply missed. Might sound too negative as the story was also never boring, I liked the cast, humour, climax and at the end I was entertained. I should also mentioned that neither Atlantis nor Namor are like the comic book sources but Tenoch Huerta sold me the character. Also you should know that Riri Williams is a red flag for Marvel comic readers. She should replace Ironman aka Tony Stark in the comics when Robert Downey Jr. made the character as popular as never before. It should not surprise that this was a bad idea that flopped. For me in this movie Riri Williams works well and I was invested. Dominique Thorne sold me the character. The overall story while entertaining has weaknesses. For example the reason for the conflict between the two factions is nonsensical. Even a below average leader should find better solutions as Namor and it blows the cover that protects his people better than anything else. I am a bit vague to avoid spoilers but you can easily guess what I meant The actors deliver a good performance. I like the old characters that returned and new ones introduced. I should also say it is not and I repeat not a woke abomination like some people say. Optically I like the style of the movie. The sets look beautiful, the costumes are excellent and the special effects work as always. Lastly I liked the action scenes and battles. Overall I give a 7/10 but think that without Black Panther 1 I would go higher. Worth watching. Expand

I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of Black Panther even when the comic was first made into a movie. But this sequel is really bad.

The female bias in the film is troubling, as the "man" is portrayed as either a weak complement or a figure of fun, otherwise just a testosterone-driven being with very little intelligence.

The obsessive adoption of other MCU elements is also laughable. They compulsively try to implement an "Iron Woman" and ... oh what am I talking about this for so long.

In short: Technically perfectly implemented and as always with clear 3D technology. But the storyline, copying of other MCU elements and this "black style" lead in the end to the fact that you can no longer take the film seriously.

Entertaining entertainment that does not inspire to be watched again.

The writers and director should never touch another movie. So many people forgive Wakanda Forever only because of the tribute parts about Chadwick Boseman. They need to go back to the first movie: completely different and way better than this. Expand

But somehow the main casts and director pulled through and made a sequel that is on some level better than the original. Unemcumbered by the Marvel formula, Coogler was given carte blanche by Marvel to create a sequel that provides closure to Boseman's passing. A great film and worth a watch. Expand

What a massive downgrade in story... I wanted it to be amazing as a Boseman send off. Unfortunately, the story and some weird out of place wokism lowers the quality of the amazing, acting, cinematography, and the rest.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Admittedly a fun watch, great action sequences, rich bright colors, locations and characters, but it drags in a few spots where the movie stops to preach, and no Black Panther in a Black Panther movie means this was misnamed. Also, a slap in the face of the people you entertain means you lose them: while the celebration of African and Mexican culture, art and tradition provides a wonderful backdrop for the movie and a great learning experience for young and old, the fake woke narrative about all bloodthirsty colonizers murdering, raping, pillaging completely civilized and peaceful people, villages and civilizations is burning itself out of fuel. This cherry-picking of history is tiresome, but I suppose it should be tolerated in a fairy tale. Also... the puny ankle wings... lol. Expand

Most of the movie was quite enjoyable. But the whole Ironheart part was a disappointing, I was expecting to see the same suit as the comics, and the CGI was awful. Some parts of the movie felt like plot holes, stuff that wasn't explained properly, but I get it, this movie was probably a bit rushed, and they had to alter a huge part of the story after the death of Chadwick. The story line is well put together, the artwork is absolutely captivating. I honestly was not expecting to see warmonger again, that was a shock. I loved this movie so much, I watched it twice to really take it in.
