The dancing, clothes and backgrounds were mind-boggling. I was amazed at every moment and was filled with awe of and pride. In addition I appreciated the various artist that were highlighted throughout the film. Many I had never heard of but will follow up on in the future. For those who are screaming racism because of the White butlers you must have never been to Ethiopia, South Africa, Zimbabwe or Zambia. Having been to all these countries I am sad to report that every server, butler, maid in the 5 star hotels, my husband and I stayed, were Black. We, in most cases, were the only Black people we were patrons. This is probably due to the poaching of resources, from Africa, by their European colonizers. That is a conversation for another day. In addition, my grandparents were all maids or housekeepers for white people. Please be sure to bring the same level of racial indignation when speaking about the colonization of African and Asia as well as the subjugation of Black people during Jim Crow. At the end of the day, Beyoncé gave us a piece of art that uplifts Black people particularly little Black girls. If the racist would have their way we would still be using the Aunt Jemima caricatures as our visual representation. Expand

It was boring to watch, the political statement supporting it is why its being overrated but if it was released 20 years ago then it would most likely be ignored or get 10 minutes of fame.

The Gift companion album was not a typical Queen Bey album, simply because it wasn’t great. But Queen Bey took it and made it something great with this visual album. I think the most intriguing aspect of this is her portrayal of Osun, the Yoruban goddess. She seems to have adapted that persona in herself, and that’s inspiring in a lot of ways. With Black is King, you can definitely mute the mediocre music, but your jaw will be on the floor regardless. Expand

AMAZING. its not about RACE, it’s about CULTURE. Its not about Beyoncé “cashing out” on culture, it’s about CELEBRATING AND BRINGING AWARENESS TO IT. What type of awareness? THAT THE CULTURE WE ALL ONCE DERIVED FROM IS THE MOST ROYAL CULTUREAMAZING. its not about RACE, it’s about CULTURE. Its not about Beyoncé “cashing out” on culture, it’s about CELEBRATING AND BRINGING AWARENESS TO IT. What type of awareness? THAT THE CULTURE WE ALL ONCE DERIVED FROM IS THE MOST ROYAL CULTURE THAT CAN EXIST. Why? BECAUSE WE ARE ALL DERIVED FROM IT, whether you like it or not. Everyone who is saying it sucks and rating it 0 is jealous, narcissistic, or pessimistic. Don’t believe them. I am one of the most optimistic people there is to exist. I can tell you for a fact, if you stop believing stereotypes, rumors, (including but not limited to, illuminati, epstein island, or that she is not rich because of her talent but because she is involved with satanic dealings) < which are all just rumors to entertain pessimistic people, and focus on the fact that she didn’t JUST include BLACK PEOPLE, BUT ALL TYPES OF BROWN PEOPLE AS WELL AS MULTIPLE GENDERS, and lastly, if you just simply watch the film instead of criticizing it because you don’t like her, or the previews, or the title, then you would understand the true meaning of the film. But honestly, she doesn’t need your critique, or anyone’s. it is a work of art and sorry, but disney already approved it ;). Amazing Bey. Love you! Expand

The voyage feels even more special during the current state of the world, as the Black experience has been looked at closely in the wake of the many deaths of Black people, and the Black Lives Matter movement that continues to protest racism and inequality. And for those of us who have been stuck in place for months because of the coronavirus pandemic, the voyage and escapism are welcomed. In “Black Is King,” which debuted Friday on Disney+, Beyoncé continues to dig deep into her roots and share her discovery with the world, like she did on the sweet masterpiece “Lemonade.” Black pride is the center of the film, with African artists strongly represented, as Beyoncé shares her stage with Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Busiswa, Salatiel, Yemi Alade, Moonchild Sanelly and more.

They add a great deal of energy and beauty to the film — through lyrical delivery, eye-popping and sharp choreography, and bright and elegant costumes — bringing the songs from “The Lion King: The Gift” to life. That album was inspired by the time Beyoncé spent voicing the character of Nala in the latest version of “The Lion King.” Audio from the animated film are included, but it’s the newer passages that truly resonate.

Black is King Album is another priceless artwork of Beyoncé.I've watched it twice in a day and found out what she wanna give us.OMG!I love it.
A visual film reflecting the black culture, the community & their tribes. I'm an asian,I educated myself about the Black Movements through some books & films.I just need to admit that I'm a beyhive,I've seen her artworks & her efforts to upgrade the black community. The lyrics composing, the script writing, the sound effects mixing, the acting, directing, cinematography, everything is beyond normal ppl's ability to understand.Btw,you may feel soothing, calming & relaxing from the beginning ,and then energetic, overwhelmed & inspired at the end.
Last but not the leaste, this film is not for normal movie goers, but for the art lovers. Enjoyyyy!

So beautiful and uplifting for me as a Nigerian. It paints a wonderful picture and portrays us in a light that we are not often seen in. It’s a feast for the eyes and an emotional journey.

Beyoncé ultrapassou a excelência artística num nível que superou a si mesma. E eu nem sabia que isso era possível.

Cultural reset is what she did! The visuals, choreography, fashion, every detail of it — I feel like my eyes have been blessed and views been changed towards black culture! Such excellence and regal!

Beyoncé is incredibly talented, the movie is awesome because it has a lot meaning behind and she praised the black culture.

Fun and energetic, but lacks conviction and feels largely self-aggrandising and disappointingly simplistic, Beyonce has definitely seen better days - 2 stars

This film is both visually and audibly beautiful. It spreads a positive message about self-love in the black community at no one's expense. 10/10, I would definitely watch this movie repeatedly for many years.

She’s done it again and we as the audience are the real winners. Just when we worry she might not be able to top herself, she does exactly that and in spectacular fashion.

I will be returning to this piece of work in the near future to once again graze my eyes upon the glorious fashion exhibition on top of Queen B's vocal gifts. Grade A Expand

The Queen reasures us with this never seen before project that she is the standard and that she makes the rules both for the music and now the movie industry. The introduction to a new variety of storytelling: the visual album unlocks unprecedented opportunities for Beyoncé to gain countless awards for her latest work. I'm proud to be a fan and to watch the queen invest in projects that truly matter and impact every single person that watches. Expand
