The Queen reasures us with this never seen before project that she is the standard and that she makes the rules both for the music and now the movie industry. The introduction to a new variety of storytelling: the visual album unlocks unprecedented opportunities for Beyoncé to gain countless awards for her latest work. I'm proud to be a fan and to watch the queen invest in projects that truly matter and impact every single person that watches. Expand

The voyage feels even more special during the current state of the world, as the Black experience has been looked at closely in the wake of the many deaths of Black people, and the Black Lives Matter movement that continues to protest racism and inequality. And for those of us who have been stuck in place for months because of the coronavirus pandemic, the voyage and escapism are welcomed. In “Black Is King,” which debuted Friday on Disney+, Beyoncé continues to dig deep into her roots and share her discovery with the world, like she did on the sweet masterpiece “Lemonade.” Black pride is the center of the film, with African artists strongly represented, as Beyoncé shares her stage with Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Busiswa, Salatiel, Yemi Alade, Moonchild Sanelly and more.

They add a great deal of energy and beauty to the film — through lyrical delivery, eye-popping and sharp choreography, and bright and elegant costumes — bringing the songs from “The Lion King: The Gift” to life. That album was inspired by the time Beyoncé spent voicing the character of Nala in the latest version of “The Lion King.” Audio from the animated film are included, but it’s the newer passages that truly resonate.

AMAZING. its not about RACE, it’s about CULTURE. Its not about Beyoncé “cashing out” on culture, it’s about CELEBRATING AND BRINGING AWARENESS TO IT. What type of awareness? THAT THE CULTURE WE ALL ONCE DERIVED FROM IS THE MOST ROYAL CULTUREAMAZING. its not about RACE, it’s about CULTURE. Its not about Beyoncé “cashing out” on culture, it’s about CELEBRATING AND BRINGING AWARENESS TO IT. What type of awareness? THAT THE CULTURE WE ALL ONCE DERIVED FROM IS THE MOST ROYAL CULTURE THAT CAN EXIST. Why? BECAUSE WE ARE ALL DERIVED FROM IT, whether you like it or not. Everyone who is saying it sucks and rating it 0 is jealous, narcissistic, or pessimistic. Don’t believe them. I am one of the most optimistic people there is to exist. I can tell you for a fact, if you stop believing stereotypes, rumors, (including but not limited to, illuminati, epstein island, or that she is not rich because of her talent but because she is involved with satanic dealings) < which are all just rumors to entertain pessimistic people, and focus on the fact that she didn’t JUST include BLACK PEOPLE, BUT ALL TYPES OF BROWN PEOPLE AS WELL AS MULTIPLE GENDERS, and lastly, if you just simply watch the film instead of criticizing it because you don’t like her, or the previews, or the title, then you would understand the true meaning of the film. But honestly, she doesn’t need your critique, or anyone’s. it is a work of art and sorry, but disney already approved it ;). Amazing Bey. Love you! Expand

The dancing, clothes and backgrounds were mind-boggling. I was amazed at every moment and was filled with awe of and pride. In addition I appreciated the various artist that were highlighted throughout the film. Many I had never heard of but will follow up on in the future. For those who are screaming racism because of the White butlers you must have never been to Ethiopia, South Africa, Zimbabwe or Zambia. Having been to all these countries I am sad to report that every server, butler, maid in the 5 star hotels, my husband and I stayed, were Black. We, in most cases, were the only Black people we were patrons. This is probably due to the poaching of resources, from Africa, by their European colonizers. That is a conversation for another day. In addition, my grandparents were all maids or housekeepers for white people. Please be sure to bring the same level of racial indignation when speaking about the colonization of African and Asia as well as the subjugation of Black people during Jim Crow. At the end of the day, Beyoncé gave us a piece of art that uplifts Black people particularly little Black girls. If the racist would have their way we would still be using the Aunt Jemima caricatures as our visual representation. Expand

It is a work of art that celebrates Black culture and African heritage in a way the world has never seen and on a level that we may possibly never see again. In Black is King, Beyoncé brings us all beautiful images, fashion, natural landscapes, and the beauty and strength of Black/African people. There is a serious need for Black people to be and feel represented and recognized and Beyoncé has done that for them in a spectacular and beautiful way and I say that as a white woman. I love Black is King!! Expand

É a Madonna do nosso tempo. É o Michael Jackson do nosso tempo. É BEYONCE: The King! Expand

É UM FILME MUITO BOM. CONTA A HISTÓRIA DE UM POVO SOFREDOR QUE MERECE VENCER. O MUNDO TEM UMA DÍVIDA HISTÓRICA COM TODA A COMUNIDADE NEGRA.

A literal love letter to Africa. Not only does it flaunt the rich and regal culture of Africa, it also showed others that being black does not mean that you're below them. Very wonderful film 10/10 would always recommend.

However as fan of the severely underrated “the gift” album I was excited about the visuals. She exceeded my expectations. I did not think after her grandiose visual film lemonade she would be able to top herself but she did!!

I look forward to more film and visual art from Beyoncé and Parkwood. Plus I didn’t want to sign up for another streaming platform but Disney plus was worth it !

It was a masterpiece! Yes, it was indeed a reimagining of The Lion King. However, there were layers and stories within stories. Beautiful. A must watch.
