Such a great film. Iñarritu's direction can't be any better, and the performances from the whole cast are really good (especially Norton and Keaton). Music and the ending also are memorable.

This movie contains mostly nothing but scandal, yelling, drugs and show some characters which are failed actors wanting to show something they can't, led by a director with lack of imagination and fantasy. Not interesting, boring action, annoying music all over the movie and no plot, no logical and rational sequence of action.
Don't waste your time watching this movie, it's not worth it. Critics praised and overrated this movie cause of Hollywood's interests and corruption.
Think and compare this poor movie which won "Best Picture" award with "The Dark Knight", which didn't won best film in 2008, it wasn't even nominated and added to the short list of contenders. But was praised later by critics, most of them saying that maybe was "some of the best films in history of cinematography". Think of that, and that shows the corrupt environment of Hollywood, which give awards to people who satisfy their interests, just like in politics. Hollywood is a business place, not an artist worth industry, as it was maybe in other old days.… Expand

Wow, I really didn't expect this one to be a good movie. But it was! And yes, I love psycho-thrillers, and yes, I love satires. So this film, as a blend of those two genres, and being a "Hollywood-critic" was a blast for me. Especially thatWow, I really didn't expect this one to be a good movie. But it was! And yes, I love psycho-thrillers, and yes, I love satires. So this film, as a blend of those two genres, and being a "Hollywood-critic" was a blast for me. Especially that it is a cinematography-miracle, Inaritu really outdid himself, just like as Keaton, Stone or Norton (Gosh..). I am going to give it a stable 8; not less or more, but it is definitely one of the best in 2014, that I had to watch in only 2022. But now I know, why it beat Whiplash 8 years ago. I must say that I adored the cast. They, in my opinion, worked well together. Keaton deservedly received the Oscar for this performance. It was quite astonishing how many parts he can portray.

However, all the messages are pur in the words by the characters, too obviusly. They as well seem so numb and shallow characters, as if in a glass cage, so distant.

Praise yes, ok, fine. Yet there is no cinematic masterpiece here that deserves such "exaggerated" praise, because there is nothing "unique" with this movie.

It would be unfair to criticize the film on technical aspects, but it should not be exaggerated either. And for those who want to see the most praised one shot" or "long take" masterpiece, here are your masterpieces Aleksandr Sokurov: Russki Kovcheg - Russian Ark (2012), or one of the later examples, Victoria (2015), directed by Sebastian Schipper.… Expand
