I wasn't bored by it and you could even say that I enjoyed myself for the most part while watching it. It has an interesting premise, and I was impressed by the antagonist. However, it's hard for me to ignore how incredibly stupid most of the characters in this film are. My goodness, I guess we are just meant to assume that most of the people that found themselves in this story are not the smartest folks around. Even when I try to ignore that issue, I still have a few problems with how the story unfolded in the third act. The dialogue is also quite painful at times. Bad Samaritan reminded me of Disturbia in a sense, except it's not as good. Like I said, I didn't hate this film, and it was entertaining enough to make me feel like I didn't waste $5 on a ticket, but I don't think I'll ever have the sudden urge to watch this one again. This unfurls a cascading series of events that provides several effective scares and mounting tension. There are some flaws in the logic, but also some clever uses of technology. Director Dean Devlin is best known for big disaster films like Geostorm and Independence Day: Resurgence (neither of which was especially successful). He does better with this tightly-woven and enjoyably suspenseful film. Expand

The cast is terrific and the story doesn’t take long to get going. It is a bit brutal at times and I did have to cover my eyes once or twice. But, the plot picks up a good head of steam and you find yourself talking to the people up on the screen, trying to get their attention! If you like on the edge suspense, this is the movie for you. I think they have it out for Dean Devlin. This was a low budget, indie film, produced, directed, and essentially marketed by an indie company with the help of Legion M. This isn't some huge blockbuster company. That being said, the movie was phenomenally done and had a lot of great moments. The entire cast performed wonderfully and the writing was superb. Seriously, this was a really good movie. Expand

This was very much a well executed suspenseful film, where the writing, acting, and timing were all worth checking out on the big screen.

2) Critics really do show their true colors here - and not in a good way. It's not shocking to see their low ratings for a lower-than-Marvel-budget film, especially when there are numerous stories of critics incentivized to submit a particular score based on criteria that couldn't be further away from what the common movie watcher cares about. Suggestion: There should be something to establish Critic credibility and hold the bias Critics accountable. I hope someone could allow Users to rate the movie critics that end up giving scores so polarizing to the average User score.

David Tennant, the villain, is known for his excellent work on British TV in Doctor Who and Broadchurch, and he is fun to watch in this film. His nemesis is Robert Sheehan who plays the very likable hero Samaritan and who was in the Red Riding Trilogy. Expand

I went into this film blind, I didn't read or watch any critic reviews nor did I hear about it from word of mouth. I left the film 4/5's of a way into it because it was just TERRIBLE. I don't care if the budget was low and indie-style, that does not excuse middle school level of writing in this film. This is a Redbox rental at best.
Everyone did a good job with the terrible script they got including the almighty David Tenant, but the film was completely boring, wasn't really tense, even Kilgrave couldn't make this film interesting.

The first 30 was alright but then it just got dumber and dumber and dumber to the point your own patience will definitely be tested. This film reminds me of an okay yet far superior film, Arlington Road. Just trust me, unless you're using MoviePass to pass the time like me, DO NOT waste your money. I'm telling you, you will regret it! Don't you do it! You better not!

The pacing is so inconsistent, It is way too long (nearly 2 hours) and the ending is just so freaking cliched. And I just love how Tennant's character outsmarts the protagonist at each and every turn yet is defeated at the very end. Expand

This will all lead to very dangerous consequences for Sheehan and anyone in his orbit. This is the type of movie that if you look too closely at the plot holes it can seem too far fetched, but if one just goes with the flow the movie can be quite engrossing in its own bizarre way. David Tennant is fantastic, but the plot armor of characters is too strong to be believable.
