It's okay. But spends too much time on technology and corporate Intrigue. Which is not as interesting as questions like, what makes us human? Solaris and ex machina does it Better. Or even demon seed. Which is not about demons at all.

Movie is so bad that I'm writing negative reviews instead of watching it. I'd turn it off but I paid good money for it.

The J3 sequence (when you watch you'll know what I'm talking about) is super bad-a$$ cool. It's indescribable. The cinematography is stunning and the score is gorgeous. Kudos to Theo James and Stacy Martin for their stellar performances. Without saying too much, the ending will leave you gob-smacked and in need of a rewatch. Expand

In 2009, Rothery was a key figure behind Duncan Jones' sci-fi masterpiece "Moon": the moon base, Gerty the robot and all the vehicles were all designed by him. Now, Rothery gives another proof of his visual talent with "Archive". Some people said that "Archive" is a sort of "Ex Machina meets Black Mirror", but I think that's not the right comparison. In my opinion this movie is more a spiritual sequel to "Moon", with the same depht in all its charactersations and the same taste for world building and atmosphere. Yeah, maybe "Moon" was more innovative, but I don't care. This is a kind of sci-fi that's extremely difficoult to find today. This movie is precious. Go watch it immediately if you like the genre Expand

It tells a compelling story from its own angle. Lead actor Theo James was solid in the film, Especially given as much screen time as he gets due to the nature of the story. Supporting cast do adequate job moving the plot along.

In all it was an enjoyable experience. Far FAR better than the other sci fi flick popped out by netflix the same week The Old Guard. Archive succeeds everywhere that film fails miserably. 8.75/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I expected a movie that raises the eternal questions. What is human? Can a digital mind think or does imitate consciousness? Can the robots dream? I have found them. The second prototype grasped the core of humanity: the passion that makes us alive. And she failed, just like a human. She burned herself with the flame of a newborn soul. But the ending ruined everything. It killed all plotlines. It devaluated all achievements and character progress Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I couldn't finally figure out what was the movie trying to do. Making fun of me? Was it a strong AI movie? Was is it about the 'Archive'? Did it use Sci-fi to describe the love between George and Jules? None of them! It actually ruined the whole thing by the wrong ending. You know, everything isn't that bad before the ending, I even believe it was a good movie. I really liked the idea of Archive, I liked the way that film described the past and motivations of George with a really nice fellow, it was very well-directed. But with the wrong ending, it turned into an average movie, from a 7.5 or even 8(if AI robots behaviours were more realistic). Rothery should have spent more time to create real AI robots(and not just human in a metal body), instead of trying to make the final scene more shocking. Expand

Stop trying to turn short stories into shows and movies. Just because it’s on camera doesn’t make it good. Story telling is not just adjectives. It includes character development, dialogue and some verbs. Writers these days are incompetent, inept and boring. I do not have time to waste watching an actor walk about, stare off into nothing, brush his teeth, drive about or any of numerous ways they waste time in shows and movies. If you do not have a good story to tell then stfu and stop wasting everyone’s time. Expand

The acting is relatively solid, some better then others. The music is ok for that type of movie. If anything, the film was a bit slow and suffers from a lack of tension. I give it 70%. The ending was very nice. Expand

It was too stupid to be believable: a film about artificial deficiency that duplicates the human one of the designer, who is suffering from an unresolved mourning and is unable to diagnose the symptoms of jealousy for an adolescent Electra complex. I was hoping for a final twist: it is there, but even more predictable and banal than the rest.

Had never heard of it. Blown away! There are things that will turn some people off which is reflected I think in a few very negative reviews I've read but this movie moved me. It's dark, it's desolate, I felt lonely on a plane with 150 people about half way through. But I powered through and got the payoff in the final moments of the film.

It's gorgeous, thought provoking, intellectual Sci-fi at it's best. Maybe not for everyone but those that "get it" will be rewarded with a movie that they will remember for some time. Emotionally moving, confusing and perplexing all while keeping you on the edge of your seat because you're waiting for something... to understand something that's just outside your understanding. Fantastic film.
