By far the most entertaining comic book movie of the year. Amazing fight scenes, incredible visual effects, AQUAMAN is a huge game change for the DCEU. I hope James Wan can make more movies for DC.

The story is a simple story about family and love, the action is frantic and some of the dialogue cheesy but who cares when your having this much fun. Jason Momoah knocks it out of the park and Amber Heard is suprisingly good as his partner in saving the world, their chemistry is just one of the two beautiful love stories wonderfully interwoven in this epic fantasy superhero adventure. The villain Orm, played by Patrick Wilson is cheese personified, but his message is not. Orm wants to attack the surface world for pollutating the oceans and destroyong the sealife. The tonal shift is so subtle, that one minute your laughing and the next you have a tear in your eye, that's what makes this film so beautiful, it has so many messages and the more you watch the film, the more you will fall in love with it. Go see this movie in Imax 3d to fully appreciate the wonder of Atlantis and please Warner Brothers, hire James Wan to make Aquaman 2 because watching this film in Imax 3d is so exhillerating that I and many more fans will become addicted to Wan's thrilling style of action adventure movies. Aquaman accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do, deliver colorful, over the top comic book action, and it succeeds with witty characters and a sense of adventure and grandeur I haven't felt in a movie for a long time. It does have some flaws, like the movie uses some somewhat misplaced flashbacks to explain Arthur's backstory and I would prefer if it was all in the beginning as a normal sequence. Another thing is that it might be a bit hard to follow with all the kingdom and their plights thrown around and it might leave the uninitiated, like myself, a bit lost and slow to pick up what is going on. But besides these issues the movie is still pretty great. Not some sort of cinematic masterpiece, mind you, but it would be unfair to judge it as some oscar bait trash. Don't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. Expand

Amber Heard does a great job as Mera, who really steals the show half the time she's on screen and has wonderful chemistry with Mamoa. There are many plot holes however. Things that just aren't explained before they move onto the next portion of the movie. And the main villain is almost comically evil throughout the movie. Even though he's well acted, it comes off at a little bland for my tastes. The visuals were great, even if most of the outfits throughout the movie are seemingly ripped from a bad 70's comic book movie. But there's just a ton of fun to be had with this movie. Especially considering the fact that the DC movies have just been utter garbage up to this point, besides Wonder Woman. It was nice to watch a movie that didn't feel like it needed to be the savior of the DC cinematic universe. It knew what it wanted to be throughout the movie and it doesn't apologize for a lot of the negative aspects that come with it. I respect the filmmakers decision to do that and it might have saved this movie from being a total piece of crap if they had tried to change anything. Expand

Visually is amazing, the music is uplifting, powerful and beautiful. The story is a type that we have seen before, but then again these comics were written 50 years ago, for me the movie kept it interesting all the way, there are several good humor moments, emotional moments too, the characters are well developed throughout the movie and so you get strong and believable connections between them, the acting from everyone is very good.
There are many powerful scenes, great fighting scenes and the main battle has a scale and epicness that for moments resembles the third movie of the Lord of the Rings. In all, the movie is well put together, it flows and keeps you interested. The only thing I would point out is the fact that at least 4 times the characters got interrupted by a blast, that felt a bit repetitive, but the movie does places back the DCEU at a very respectable level, since it suffered a bit from Justice League. Very good job and thank you.

This movie had a great environmental message that merged well with the villains goals. It also has non-stop special effects that hits home when done right. The action sequences are great and very original. There will be things that you have never seen before done in a movie. Overall it's not a GREAT film, but it's certainly worth your time.

The Success of the MCU had a steep price that many comics movies have to pay: The expectance that comic movies have to appease to classical movie structures. I'm quite fond of the fact that this movie cheerfully embraces the notion of comics to be a "bag `o` wonders". It's cheerfull, it's loud, it colourfull, sometimes it has a message, sometimes not, it's sometimes downright silly...

What's not to love? And damn, it looks good. This is one rare example of CGI and 3D done right.

I know people want so much for DC getting a win, and Aquaman is imho the best cinematic current univ DC movie, but the movie is just mediocre.

Pros:
Momoa is a good casting choice and brings flair to the character. CGI are top notch and some of the scenes are visually stunning. There is a fight mid-movie which was excellently choreographed and shot. Writing is decent first half.

Cons:
Momoa and Amber have a few scenes in which he looks so bored and out of character. The story is bald in the second part. The reveal near the end with his mother is so far-fetched and takes away all the tension. Not only that but Aquaman's " I don't care" attitude makes it lack any tension. Last fight is exactly the opposite of the previous fight I mentioned in terms of quality. Mera and Aquaman relationship is forcibly written. The villain's plot is a joke (I'm not referring to the brother), if you take all his screen time out, the story would be exactly the same.

--
Bottom line, the movie never excels at anything, except maybe CGI. It's a decent movie, I think fans of the character will love it, but other than that, it's way too overhyped

I liked Aquamam it was big, colorful, fun and overall an enjoyable DC superhero movie however it did have some significant flaws.

I can say that Aquamam was DC’s most ambitious movie to date and they nailed most. The first act of the movie is pretty solid you get some backstory on Author Curry, some nice foundation for the plot and interesting interactions between Aquamam and the villain Black Manta earlier on which the movie does a good job of making you understand his motivations for hating Aquamam and wanting to kill him and Makes Aquamam reconsider some of his actions regarding Black Manta which was some nice writing.

The second act of the movie was surprisingly the weakest just when the story was about to kick into gear the movie gets goofy I mean characters like Mera and Aquaman become cartoony and silly as the movie’s attempts to make you laugh becomes forced and awkward I mean there is literally toilet humor in this movie. It looked like two different people were directing the movie compared to the first half of the movie. Even characters like Black Manta became campy with him saying some weird dialogue. I wouldn’t say the second act is terrible but compared to the first act of the movie it’s just not as good.Luckily the movie comes into focus in the last third of the movie with some very good action, compelling story and surprisingly great CGI throughout the movie and some of the best I’ve seen in a long while.

The best characters in the movie were undoubtedly Aquaman and Mera. Jason Mamoa and Amber Heard had nice chemistry with each other even in the goofy scenes, Aquaman’s journey to becoming King was well done as the movie made you understand why he reluctant to be King and how Aquaman’s character grew throughout the movie especially with the help of Mera who also has a good mini arc in the movie and she had some badass scenes in the movie and again her best moments was with Aquaman as they went well together.

The villain Ocean Master played by Patrick Wilson was bland, I mean they could have done much more with him but as the movie went on he became just another generic bad guy. Earlier in the movie he had some decent reasons for wanting to have War with the surface and had some good interactions between him and Aquaman since their brothers but you never got to see more of that. Patrick Wilson’s performance wasn’t even bad it was actually decent but the story involving him didn’t have anything significant to do besides being evil because he is a bad guy.

Like I said earlier the visuals were incredible and very colorful especially with the scenes under water and the sea creatures i never knew James Wan was capable of directing a movie with such incredible visuals and great CGI so one thing you could say about Aquaman is that it was truly a spectacle at times. Atlantis and other sea kingdoms looked pretty good and contributed to the story well however sometimes these under water kingdoms like Atlantis felt empty at times I mean it looked interesting but you never got to see more of it besides action scenes and water battles which was kind of disappointing. The action was also very good again the visuals helped make the action good at times especially the final battle it wasn’t the best thing ever but it was very nice.

The story is pretty solid and Aquaman’s journey is interesting as he deals with responsibilities he doesn’t want to have but he grows over time into a hero and despite being campy at times the movie has some pretty funny scenes so that’s another plus.So I enjoyed Aquaman it’s DC best movie since Wonder Woman not as great but still a pretty good movie with a solid story, great CGI and visuals and characters despite a bland villain and silly second act. Hope this continues for DC movies.

This adds a lot of value to the movie, as I felt as if I was really connecting with the main character. As for the story itself, it's very well made.
As for the actor, perfect choice.

I'm also surprised at all the special effects used. They really made the underwater scenes feel underwater.
Voices also sound slightly different under the water, just so that you're constantly reminded of the setting.

Definitely recommended. I'm buying this when it releases on Blu-ray.

I definitely recommend this movie.

I was not expecting anything more than a little CGI eye candy, and the chance to look at Jason Momoa for a while. While it’s true that probably 50% or more of the movie is action sequences, and while it’s also true that the plot is little more than something to hang the action on, and that the dialog is pretty superficial, I have to admit that I sat wide eyed and riveted through every moment of this epic achievement in 3D visual splendor. Over and over again, I could not believe what I was being treated to. Again and again I found myself mouthing “holy s@#t” as another simply amazing visual unfolded. Though the action was completely over the top, it was so incredibly edited that it managed to be intimate and easy to follow, while being absolutely immense. I also enjoyed Nicole Kidman and the rest of the cast. Jason Momoa was epic. He may not win an Oscar for this role, but he was simply perfect. Bottom line, I was extremely surprised to find that I really enjoyed this movie - enough to write this review and advise others to go and enjoy it too. Expand

In the past few years, DC’s movies were more like a hit and miss after Justice League’s under-performance with fans and critics divided over the future of the DCEU.
But with Aquaman, DC fans gained some hope after all. AQUAMAN is a fun thrilling ride, with fascinating visuals and great action sequences (the chase scene) that worked pretty well with the camera work!

James Wan widens the DCEU with a new underwater world to explore some great characters we see for the first time on the big screen. Jason Momoa’s take on Arthur Curry was bad-ass and he kicks ass with a charismatic touch of his own proving he’s worthy of the role. As for Amber Heard, she gives an excellent performance as Queen Mera and her chemistry with Jason was really compelling. Would’ve liked to see more of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta as he was a bit underused and his story didn’t really serve the main plot of the movie, but still looking forward to see more of him as Aquaman’s archenemy in the near future.

The writing of this movie was a lot of the time clunky and some of the dialogue sounded too cheesy. Plus, the tone of the movie was super light-hearted and it’s very clear that James Wan tried to make it different than previous movies and drove away from the usual dark tone. A lot of the comedy one-liners didn’t land and were a bit forced.

The score of the movie is pretty good but the use of some pop songs was really buggy, out of place, and should’ve been avoided given that the main theme of the movie is spectacular. Thanks to Rupert Gregson-Williams!

The horror aspect of James Wan was so satisfying and was pretty much clear based on his former experience with the horror genre, pushing the visuals to new a level in this epic underwater opera!
Unfortunately, the final act of the movie was filled with battle scenes that were all over the place and too noisy with too much going on underwater.

Out of the movies I’ve seen from the series, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and Justice League, I have not liked a single one of them. In fact, they just might be up there with the worst movies I have ever seen. However, (I can’t believe I’m saying this) I really enjoyed Aquaman. Yeah. The movies starring some of the most iconic and beloved DC characters? Hated them. The movie based on arguably the stupidest DC character that is pretty much only popular because he’s seen as a joke? I really liked it! It had fun action, a brisk pace that took you all over the place, a light tone that didn’t take itself too seriously, enjoyable characters to go on an adventure with, and breathtakingly beautiful colours. Imagine that, a DC movie that’s bright and colourful! I’m a sucker for neon and bioluminescence especially (Avatar, Tron Legacy, and Blade Runner are some of my favourite movies for that aspect alone), and this movie has a lot of that! Some of the CGI looked a little phoney at times, almost like a video game cutscene, but that just added to the charm in my opinion. Another thing I really appreciated was the fact that it was a stand-alone film with little to no connection to the other movies. There’s a loose connection to Wonder Woman and a reference to Justice League, but that’s it. This is the kind of movie they should’ve been making for the DCEU from the beginning, I’m glad that they seem to be going in this lighter, more fun direction rather than the dark, convoluted Zack Snyder stuff. I highly recommend this movie if you just want to have a good time. It’s The Little Mermaid meets Indiana Jones meets Black Panther featuring battle sharks, crab people, and dinosaurs! Doesn’t that sound awesome? If it does, you’ll like this movie a lot, I think! I’m gonna go watch Wonder Woman and Shazam now. Maybe I do like the DCEU after all! Expand

Aquaman is the second DCU movie to hit it out of the park. Though, I concede that Wonder Woman still had the stronger story.

The whole thing looks great. The film goes full balls-to-the wall in creating the entire fictional kingdom of Atlantis and several other underwater kingdoms and locations. The whole thing has an 80's fantasy/sci-fi/adventure feel to it. A lot of work went into the details on this. The movie includes one dress and one visual sequence (you'll know it when you see it) that really catch your eye. The fight sequences, including a full-scale battle, really nail it. I also applaud the movie's effort to bring Black Manta and Ocean Master's outfits to life without majorly reworking the designs.

The script does a fair job of balancing drama and comedy. Jason Momoa remains utterly cool and charming as the lead. He and Amber Heard as Mera have good chemistry. Credit should also be given to Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master. He is a complete jerk in this, but you always understand where he is coming from and why he feels justified in what he is doing.

The movie does try to cram in a little too much. We get Aquaman's backstory, Atlantis' surprisingly in-depth backstory, all three of Aquaman's best known villains, and practically every major supporting character except Aqualad. You do tend to get thrown from one scene to the next, and I wished Mera and Aquaman had a little more time to build their relationship. Still, I do give director James Wan credit for trying to get in as much of the Aquaman mythos as possible. There is a lot of thought put into this world. The script is busy, but it isn't confusing or particularly jerky. You are given all the info. needed, and the flashbacks about Aquaman's origin are really well integrated and don't overstay their welcome.

First the obvious. The effects are great, just like any big movie this times, but acuaman wont dissapoint at all here.
Second the characters. Acuaman is a believable badass who has the courage of being nice when needed. And thankfully avoid the desperation for trying to be cool or funny that it so common. The villain is actually a 3d character and not a crazy tyrant with a very dumb reason, more vergil like and less generic (steppenwolf). The star here is the princess, a strong female character that is not only bearable to watch but also a pleasure to see. Probably stronger and smarter than aquaman but with the extremely rare power of not being annoying and without the so common need of pestering anyone everytime by telling them how awesome she is (hey wonder woman) .She is actually supportive and nice. Please DC keep going, in a world when we barely stand Marvel we are in need of a true hero.

While Infinity was big and spectacular it required prior knowledge, this movie didn't require such and explained everything perfectly. The action scenes were fantastic, and the CG was good too. The characters felt fleshed out, and so did the story. The visuals are beautiful, and the soundtrack is just the icing on top with orchestral and synth arrangements with plenty of licensed tracks too. This movie really is for everyone because it isn't overly superhero-y, which is fine. If James Wan wants to direct the next Guardians movie, let him. Overall the movie was fantastic, an easy 10/10. I tell you: We have not seen such a creative fantasy script and VFX since the last JJ film. While James and JJ both lack the strong moral compass of Spielberg, excepting this, Aquaman is as creative a fantasy script and VFX as you could hope for. I come from seeing close to every fantasy movie and superhero movie made. I first liked James Wan on the X-Files and have followed his horror films from a distance. James brings a great deal together here. He’s working with well-worn tropes but manages again and again to make them seem fresh. Thor: Ragnarok is the appropriate comparison here, another crowd please, another comic book come to life successfully. Aquaman has more weight and depth than Thor:R due to its hero's journey arc. I see critics criticizing Aquaman for clashes of tone. When multiple critics say this and I do not, I always wonder how many were simply looking between the screen and checking their emails on their smart phone. I went to art school and have written 44 books where shadings of tone visually and verbally are crucial. Aquaman is a masterful blending of goofy and serious moods. Even an octopus playing multiple drums fits in. A lesser presence in one or more of the main roles could have sunk this effort. The plot point shuffling of trident fight one ending inconclusively leading to a whole middle section hero's journey to get to the second and final trident fight, is amazing effective to keep the narrative afloat. The drone rooftop chase footage is used to great effect. In a behind the scenes YouTube, James says at a superhero movie the audience should feel like they are learning something from the characters; and, that they inspire us to see our own capacity to do good in our own lives. Aquaman does 9/10 on both of these. Expand

Aquaman's promotional material would have you believe that it's a big dumb dudebro superhero flick from 2003, but that's not entirely true.

I was ready to write it off 5 minutes in, but then a freaking Sigur Rós song started playing to beautiful imagery and something just clicked. From then on forward Aquaman got more and more enjoyable. It has a charming and playful spirit of adventure, packed with relentless action, set-pieces and locations (enough to fill an entire Tv season) and James Wan's inventive direction is wonderfully off the charts. All the visuals and Amber Heard in her white desert rose outfit are simply S T U N N I N G!

While the dialogue is atrocious and there's Pitbull's abominable Africa cover in the middle, I'm tempted to say that Aquaman has the potential to be this generation's The Mummy (1999).

The trailer was promising Taking the trailer as a thought of Dc films the trailers have done to publicity up the motion picture yet the consequence of the motion picture isn't that great yet Aquaman transformed it, it's an astonishing motion picture. It did live up the desires for fans the manner in which they venerate Arthur and Mera's relationship in funnies! A few scenes were very paramount ( Won't state them as it's a non-spoiler survey) ... Aquaman is an exceptionally intriguing character he's proficient to do numerous kinds of stuff you'll know when you watch the motion picture he's boss, Funny a decent blend of a superhuman identity! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Aguahombre is the best DC movie made since Wonder Woman, which means almost nothing...

In general, it feels like Aquaman suffers from a content problem. His source material is pretty weak, so any adaptation of that material will either be forced to deviate too far or follow too closely. The biracial storyline is pretty prominent, which, as Wife puts it, is a signal for the evil characters, who exclusively call Aquaman a half-breed mongrel (similar warm and fuzzy feelings from the short film in Incredibles 2, Bao). But beyond that innovation, and some humanizing of the Black Manta character (who seems generally pretty bankrupt), there’s not a lot of substance to this two and a half hour romp through the ocean.

There are a lot of Cricket Rules (esp the “mission creep” trope) from the very beginning that get in the way of the Bad Guy doing whatever he wants to destroy the land people from the very beginning. Even despite all the rules, he almost immediately goes about sending massive tsunami to destroy coastal cities and later when negotiations fail, straight up assassinates his rivals with no repercussions.

On the hero’s side of things, Aquaman, as brother’s Wife comments, isn’t really interested in the “second half of life” story of its hero–the Jungian story of his journey. Instead, the film is bogged down by jarring flashbacks of single moment lessons that Aquaman learns as a child with no gesture toward development or reflection afterwards, which gives off a kind of Slumdog Millionaire vibe, like Aquaman is literally relying on twenty second clips of memory to make vital decisions in the present day. Maybe the most poignant development for Aquaman has to do with his realization concerning Black Manta. But the whole Black Manta thing itself is a little weird. He seems like a weirdly small secondary problem compared to the impending doom of the earth, easily dispatched after a few jumped roofs and some cracked bottles of wine Sicilian wine.

Mera’s wooing to accept the legitimacy of land-dwelling includes just two points of reference, the Sahara desert and a quaint town in coastal Sicily. Their travels never take them to the kinds of places on earth that make her question land-dweller’s lifestyles in the first place. Mera has some legitimate concerns about the downsides of consumerism that are never addressed. Also, the ease with which she’s able to find Aquaman in his childhood hometown makes one wonder why he wasn’t surrounded and murdered much earlier by the king’s goons.

The script is unevenly funny–sometimes intentional, as with the “fishman not fishboy” bit, and sometimes less so, as with the “Sea Master” bit, which sounded like a BDSM game than a real title people could roll with.

On superhero cultural amnesia: Aquaman definitely knows about Aquaman, but there’s a definite weird blindspot to the film where he acknowledges that the Justice League has just finished defeating a different threat to humanity together, but now no one can be found to lend him a hand in his life or death struggle against his half-brother. Not an (similarly) indestructible Superman or the world’s fastest man or Wonder Woman or the Batman can spare a moment to check in and see if he needs a hand.

While we’re talking about strange missteps, the beast guarding the trident that’s been missing for “aeons” seems shocked that Aquaman can understand her, even though she’s delivering some pretty select roasts of his family history and legitimacy. And once he explains the situation she backs off pretty quickly and tells him she’s sort of just back up and the trident itself will kill him if he’s not the true heir to the throne, so what’s with that redundancy? Why didn’t the trident let any of the ladies attempt to claim it for the decades that she/they were trapped there?

Also, pretty sure there’s an octopus playing drums at some point during a fight scene that we’re all just going to remain quiet on?

Villain is stronger than the hero: that seems wrong on two fronts. Black Manta is at a number of disadvantages even after his upgrades. The half-brother king breaks his own mother’s quintident early on but after Aquaman proves that some backwards skeleton king from two thousand years ago doesn’t melt his flesh off and he wants it more, Aquaman is able to best him in land-based combat.

Lastly, on the innovative powers front: solo comic book movies usually use the development of one’s powers as a stand in for their emotional growth, but Aquaman doesn’t really do much power growing in this film. He can swim fast, he has super strength, and literally nothing does more than stop him for a little, so it’s hard to see space for new powers or a new take on old powers, really.

Aquaman is worth it to see if only to watch Jason Momoa shirtless for a little bit, a guilty pleasure that will tide us all over until it’s time for 80s Wonder Woman to set a new record.

Though some of the underwater cgi is really clunky and the de-aging of some of the actors is awkward and detracts from the scenes they’re in.

At a pivotal point in the film Patrick Wilson growls with sincere intensity, “Call me Ocean Master” and I’ll be damned if I didnt want to laugh and cry at the same time.

Jason Momoa takes on the title role with his immense presence and the demeanor of a regular, rough-around-the-edges guy. There's a plot that so feeble it doesn't need to be addressed. The underwater kingdom is full of beautiful, imaginative visuals and slightly bizarre creatures. Director James Wan (primarily known for the "Saw" series) brings his skills with action to create some impressive fight sequences, although (like most of these superhero films) the last big battle is too long and too cluttered. Overall, it's less serious and more fun than many comic book flix. NOTE: Stay thru the closing title sequences for a hint of the sequel. Expand

His action and battle sequences are nothing short of epic with the latter being large enough in scale to rival even the most thrilling conflicts in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. The CGI is pretty dodgy, but that's kind of forgivable given how nobody's really tried all of this underwater stuff before. Tougher to overlook the on land portions though, especially with those glaringly obvious green screens.

This is kind of like the DCEU's Black Panther. You've got a guy battling for a throne he feels unworthy of and a cast of characters who are ultimately outshined by the world they live in. The film basically takes place in an underwater Wakanda, only with somehow even more fantastical elements. I never formed an emotional connection with anything despite the film's constant efforts to try and convince me that Arthur's mommy issues actually mattered, but I was nonetheless fascinated by all the places I was being taken onscreen.

Our ability to really connect with the characters is hindered by how lively the plot is. There's so much going on that it's hard to believe things never feel overstuffed or exhausting despite the fact that the pace never relents for a single second. Impressive given how having this much content led to Spider-man's cinematic demise twice before he found his way to the MCU. Of course it also doesn't help that Wan layed the Velveeta on thick. A move that feels intentional, but robs the movie of some quality that otherwise would have been there.

Aquaman remains a lot of fun though. It plays out like an action-adventure movie with Jason Momoa trotting around the globe in search of an ancient weapon like some kind of mega-buff Indiana Jones. There's plenty of jaw-dropping spectacle and Atlantis is such an imaginative, fascinating place that it's hard to take your eyes off the screen no matter how irreverent and goofy things can get.

It was fun. Not a classic, but who except great deepness from a superhero movie anyway? It was entertaining, worth my money.

Heck..I even admit that it is an equivalent of a 'gooey, high calories fried chicken, waffle with cheese'. It is corny...it throws everything but the kitchen sink. It embraces its silliness and yet..it is fun as hell. James Wan delivers the ultimate comic book film on screen. No pandering to the common audience...no leather uniforms to make the character more 'realistic'. It's simply bringing the comic book literally to live..warts and all. Bravo. Expand

Arthur (Jason Momoa)In a shocking turn of events, DC Comics made a great movie that isn't about Batman! Finally, with Aquaman, fans get the type of movie they've always wanted from DC, and I see big things for the future of this franchise. Arthur (Jason Momoa) is the son of the Queen of Atlantis and a mortal man. He was born with extraordinary abilities, but not with the motivation to use them. After his mother was exiled and presumably killed by Atlantis, Arthur wants nothing to do with his people, until a world wide threat forces him to take action. The story here is the same as your basic comic themed film, saving the world while trying to get the girl, but what makes Aquaman really stand out is it's incredible special effects. Seeing as many films as I do, it's difficult to impress me with a little bit of CGI, but this film had some of the best effects I have ever seen! Even if this was a silent film the sheer beauty and magic of this underwater world would still be breath-taking. Jason Momoa stars in his biggest role to date and this guy absolutely killed it. My biggest fear going into this film was that it would be too cartoonish and led by a newcomer, not a great combination, but Momoa is terrific both his personality and in his ability to put on one hell of a fight scene. As for the cartoonish part, there is a little bit of that and it was a turn off, but you do need to pander to the young crowd a film like this is likely to draw. For my money, this is the best DC Comics film since the Dark Knight. I'm not the biggest Superhero fan and I absolutely loved this movie from beginning to end. The two and half hours literally flew by and in the end I was still craving more. I can't wait to see what's next for Aquaman. Expand

Great performance from Jason Mamoa, great visuals and a ton of action make this an obvious win for the DCEU after a fairly rough start with Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman and Justice League(all of which I enjoyed). It's not nearly as good as Wonder Woman or Man of Steel but with that being said, it's still a pretty good movie. It's not perfect by any means, dialogue, pacing and narrative especially in the first half really bog this film down. I liked this movie and I definitely recommend it to those who enjoy action comic book movies Expand

Some of the humor misses the mark, but just as much of it is a home run.
There's hope for DC yet, much, much better than Wonder Woman and a good sign of things to come.

Probably the best superhero movie I've ever seen. So much effort went into this and it will often make your jaw drop. Don't listen to critics. Smoke a J, hit play, shut up and enjoy.
