As visual eye-candy, it's quite good. As a superhero film trying to stand out in a pantheon of ever-increasing numbers of such films, it's only decent.

Do you want to create a superhero? It's simple, just take a word and add man and go.
Ant Man is an irrelevant superhero with an inconsequential movie and nothing interesting.
Disney please stop making movies.

No es ninguna obra maestra, obviamente, pero se deja ver de principio a final sin tener que mirar el reloj o hacer algún gesto de puro cringe por algún chascarrillo típico del cine de Marvel.

Recomendada.

Our introduction to Paul Rudds atomic hero is very disappointing. It leans on it's comedy which could've been a great outcome given the casts credentials but the script says otherwise. Admittedly though the idea of an ex-convict superhero is a progressive step in the right direction as well as showing a dedicated active father but alas that isn't what the movie was for because beyond gestures this is a dissatifying start . It's one of my favorite characters in Marvel Comics, and it finally has a movie, and it was as i expected.. disappointed me in some points, but as a whole movie, it's so charming!

I found it boring sometimes, because of the slow-telling. I really believe that if they just got attention for some points they totally just let it go in the movie and the comics, it would have been the best MCU movie of all time.

The cast is super-funny together, but once again the creators didn't gave them the chance to unleash their entire sense of humor... But it stills a funny movie though.

The story is rich, but not that rich I wanted as I said up there. But the story STILL has a very powerful concept that I truly enjoyed!

The performance was really talented and amazing, the cast gave me a great movie with their acting, especially Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man.

The CGI was not really good, it was fine actually.

So as a result, Ant-Man gives me a great time watching it, entertained at everytime I watch.

Paul Rudd normally provides an assured performance but this proved to be an exception. I am so confused at what point this movie went so disastrously wrong. The biggest failure of this movie is not its concept and not (for the most part) the deliverance or performances, but rather the script. For every cheesy one liner was met with a sigh and eye roll. If your movie relies on poorly scripted, draining, and uninspiring one liners to make it engaging, you need to scrap that draft and start again. That is genuinely what I think should have happened, they should have started again, introduced more contemporary/original comedy, discovered a new plot, and re-casted for some characters. I will give credit where credit is due. It does take a unique kind of skill to make a large budget seem so cheap. The source material was unique I guess. Expand

I still like Ant-man and the wasp but the first one has more hearth. This Movie has actually some characters arcs, and not only the main ones. The Action is a little more entertaining and the story does make more sense why it is existing and happening. Scott Lang in this Movie is also better. He isn't stupid he does actually some pretty smart thing while still being Funny. For the second Movie the writers dumped him down for comedic purpose. The jokes are still funny but whe saw it already better. The reason why they did it so the wasp can more shine. They did the character right but on the other hand they compleaty forgot Ant-Man. You have more reason to actually care in Ant-man than in Ant-man and the Wasp. Look, and caring in a Movie is important part for the enjoyment. After all this is really an underrated Movie. Expand

It seemed like a weird way to end phase two, but after the bombastic Age of Ultron failed to live up to my expectations, the more small scale (no pun intended) Ant-Man surpassed them.

Paul Rudd, of course, is extremely likeable and I really like the family drama elements of the story. Also, the shrinking effects are seriously impressive.

I really enjoy Corey Stoll as the villain. His character is far from complex, but I love how he hams it up as an unapologetically cartoony villain (he has a shrinking gun for Christ's sake!).

Why wasn't he Lex luthor instead of Jesse Eisenberg?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I found this an amusing watch - it features some decent CGI and amusing plot elements - I wouldn't say it takes itself too seriously, thankfully as I'm not entirely keen on such superhero type films. This was categorised as an action comedy film, so I thought I'd give it a watch when it was on TV and I found it entertaining enough. I tried to second guess what might happen in the plot and there were one or two plot twists. Of course, like most superhero type films, it has the underdog element to it - it is a bit cheesy I suppose but I found it entertaining regardless.

Michael Douglas playing the doctor (Dr, Hank Pym) with some less than commendable goals in mind did well in being the main villainous type character, or certainly at first. I'm not sure if I've seen him play many such characters but he did well as the scheming type I'd say. Meanwhile, the main character of local criminal, average joy type Scott Lang is played by Paul Rudd and he also gave a pretty decent performance as a confused yet enthusiastic type. He does seem clueless and if I were in his shoes, I can understand why!.

I thought it was quite an engrossing film for a Marvel superhero type film - it reminded me a little of the early 1990s 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids films', only with better special effeects, for obvious reasons. I suppose its a bit (I said a bit!) like a sanitised kid friendly version of The Fly, in a sense, only the character becomes an ant, rather than a fly, obviously.

Its not a bad watch - not greatly memorable but not boring and with decent visual effects, I'd say this is a cautious 4 star watch overall. Its a little cheesy and possibly somewhat predictable but its an easy, light watch, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Would I recommend it? if you like these sorts of films then yes. As a straight comedy film? no, not really. I wouldn't say its an all out action film as such either, although there are some decent scenes featuring action - its primarily a comic book/superhero film, with one or two morals in it but its not shoved down your throat too much. Hopefully this is enough to help you judge whether its worth you seeing it or not.

Much better than anticipated, I actually thoroughly enjoyed 'Ant-Man'. The concept is silly, but I felt it made it work very well.

It starts off as more Paul Rudd-esque than Marvel-esque, especially with the comedy. I wasn't expecting much from it at that point, not that it was necessarily bad or anything but it wasn't what I'd expect from an MCU film. However, positively, it turns into something that fits in this universe.

I enjoyed the action, score and humour. The cast do good things, with Paul Rudd filling the titular role nicely. I also really enjoyed Michael Douglas. Evangeline Lilly and Michael Peña are pluses, too. Corey Stoll, meanwhile, is a little meh I will say - entirely passable, but nothing memorable.

This is a pleasant watch, one I'd recommend.

So of course you canWhen I had heard of Ant-Man for the first time, I couldn't stop laughing. I was imagining Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants in a supervillain costume saying something like "I am the Ant-Man and I will crush you all!". So of course you can assume that I didn't know anything about Ant-Man. Rather I was more leaned towards being critical of the movie and the character himself. Later the movie came, I saw he wasn't what I was expecting him to be, and then I was like, "Okay fine, whatever.". I hadn't watched MCU movies until Infinity War was announced, after which I started bingewatching all the movies. And when it was the turn to watch Ant-Man, I was a bit skeptical. I watched it with a "Fine, I'll just skim through it like Thor movies.", but it was genuinely so good that I couldn't help but praise it.

Ant-Man is a movie, in my opinion, that has taken the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the comedy genre that we know today. It doesn't have those cheap jokes like Age of Ultron, nor the subtle humour like Iron Man movies, but rather it was a complete slapstick comedy that was actually done right. And unlike most superhero comedy movies where the protagonist alone carries the entire sense of humour on his/her own shoulders, in this one it is distributed among all the otehr characters - Scott, Hank, all of Scott's friends, Hope and even Falcon (Ant-Man visits the Avengers HQ in one scene when everyone was out and Falcon happens to catch him).

After this movie I learnt about what Ant-Man is about. Apparently both Scott and Hank were Ant-Men in two different eras of the comics. And there are many revelations of Hank being Ant-Man, which is why he has had PTSD about taking the suit again. He is also able to teach Scott how to become Ant-Man on that very basis. Ant-Man's entire training procedure is a bit boring, but occasionally turned interesting because of the exposition. I never thought I'd ever say this, but the exposition scenes of this movie are actually very interesting.

The final fight scene of this movie was also very nice. Every time they would show a very intense action scene going on but then cut to real life where it'd be a very small thing. Though I don't understand why were they fighting with the toys, since they are stronger when they are small so the toys shouldn't have affected them much. The scene from the helicopter where Ant-Man would turn small to attack them was also interesting in spite of having a plot hole - why weren't they shooting Ant-Man every time he became bigger? And in the end they manage to make an ant giant, something the movie never tells what happened to it.

Speaking of ants, this movie made me see ants very differently. Earlier I just thought them to be miniscule, organised insects who kills bigger and more good looking insects. But now I realised ants actually look pretty cool. We just can't see it because of how small they are, but if we were to tame an ant (for that matter a swarm of them), we could probably use them as a wonderful ally. This movie could be great to tell children how important and interesting ants are. They would probably like them more.

Ant-Man is one of the more forgettable movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It serves as a character origin story and is very fun to watch, but now as I write the review 2.5 years later, I have literally no memory of the movie except the scenes I mentioned (and Scott's wife seeing some other man and Ant-Man falling on Stan Lee's car). So I'd definitely give it another watch some day.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After recovering from a shaky scene after the credits, Ant-Man becomes a mostly enjoyable film, led by a strong and charming performance from Paul Rudd. His charisma and chemistry with the other characters carries a lot of scenes and injects some funny moments into the film. This is a (fittingly) small scale heist movie with big repercussions that actually works, and shows that Marvel is expanding its comfort zone in terms of genres. The action is decent but it doesn’t quite live up to the standards set by other MCU installments. Anthony Mackie is nicely worked into the story and is a welcome appearance in the film, and his presence allows the movie to be connected to the Avengers franchise without spending too much time on the connection. With that said, the writing and directing are both a bit awkward at times which disrupts the flow of some scenes and just makes them feel a bit weird. The actors do their best to overcome this when it happens and are successful at times, and Peyton Reed does his best as well. Without Paul Rudd, this movie doesn’t work, since he brings, as mentioned above, charm and charisma to this movie that it badly needed and allows it work in many instances where it otherwise wouldn’t. While Ant-Man doesn’t set any gold standards for future Marvel movies, it does way better than it could’ve and is an interesting piece of genre deviation for the MCU. Expand

But after hearing that Ant Man was gonna get a 3rd movie, I decided to prepare myself for it by re-watching the first 2 movies again and I'm glad I did because it's better than I remember. The first thing I can say is that this is a great story that also happens to be perfectly paced preventing me getting bored or falling asleep. The characters are all great, main and side thanks to fantastic writing, remarkable performances, and dare I say, they all look perfect for their roles. Speaking of the main character, thanks to how he's extremely relatable, we're there for him all the way through and want to see him succeed and it's easily all the more satisfying when he does get what he wants. The villain is pretty good and was hinted how he was broken but he was seen as pure evil since money and power can be enough for anyone to want to hurt others. The action and fight scenes are some of the best in the series and the soundscape ensures maximum immersion to leave you hooked onto your seat and fear for the main protagonists life. Finally, the CGI and digital effects to make you feel small are great and leave a lasting impression on you to appreciate your current size. Overall, this movie is a blast all the way through and I'm so glad I re-watched it since the movie didn't really leave a great impression on me as a kid and I can't wait to see the other 2 movies to see how well they hold up. Surprisingly good. Marvel was able to take one of the lamest characters and make a great movie. The comedy, action, CGI, are all good. Good movie all around.

The action scenes are cleverly designed and offer a unique perspective on the world, as we see them from the ant-sized viewpoint. However, the film does fall short in terms of character development and emotional depth, which leaves the audience feeling somewhat disconnected from the story. Overall,
Ant-Man is an enjoyable and
lighthearted film that is perfect for a
casual movie night.

Perhaps the best movie about the origins of a Marvel character. Not surprisingly, the screenwriter of this film is Edgar Wright.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
