NOTE: I watched the Assembly Cut of the film, the extended version closer to the director's original vision which is supposed to be significantly better than the original version.
Alien 3 was released in 1992 and was directed by David Fincher. It is the conclusion to the Alien trilogy and picks up from the events of the previous film Aliens after Ripley wakes up from cryogenic sleep on a prison planet.
This movie is well-known for being hated by many, including those who worked on it. The production of the film was plagued with so many issues, including shooting without a script and with the director having little-to-no creative control. An extended cut nicknamed the 'Assembly Cut' was later released which tried to be closer to the director's original vision which is the cut I watched.
I honestly quite liked this film. It might be because I watched the Assembly Cut which wasn't the supposedly bad original cut but I did think that this was actually a good film. However, it did have flaws which I'll get into later.
I thought that this was a decent final instalment and dealt with many necessary dark themes. The setting of the prison planet also added to those dark themes too and there were many elements in the film which help build up the tone of the film too. I also really liked the tone and thought it fitted the film well.
Just like Aliens, this one was refreshingly different to the others, with the original being a thriller, the second being an action and this one having parts of the others mixed with emotional drama and they all went together in a decent way and it didn't really feel like it was trying to be too many things at once.
All of the cast gave decent performances; Sigourney Weaver gave a great performance as Ripley and something I really like about each film is that you can see how her character changes through each film so you always see a new side to her which makes for an intriguing experience. You see in this film how she is constantly being affected by the events of the previous films and how she feels she doesn't have anything to live for anymore. In one scene it displays perfectly how these events have affected her when she says to the alien, "You've been in my life so long I can't remember anything else". Also, the side-characters of the prisoners helped add to the nihilistic tone of this film and some characters began to get interesting. However, there was something they did with some of these character that I wasn't a fan of which I'll talk about in the spoiler section.
Now I've got the things I liked out of the way, here are the things I didn't like. I personally wasn't a big fan of the editing style. The movie has a weird habit of showing something in a scene, then cutting to somewhere else, then cutting back to where it was before, then cutting back to the other thing and so on. From how they do this, I'm guessing this is to try and build tension but it soon gets tedious and in some scenes there is enough tension as it is anyway. This technique would've been fine in one or two scenes but this was used around four or five times.
The alien itself looks absolutely awful in some scenes. In most close-ups it looks fine but in many shots taken from a distance it looks horrendous. The special effects for it are terrible and you can see some faint green lines around it in some scenes where I suppose they must've overlayed both the alien footage that was against a green screen with the regular footage. I'm thinking that the troubled production probably contributed to this as it looks incredibly rushed.
Despite the flaws, I found this to be a good film and a decent conclusion to the Alien trilogy while also dealing with many necessary themes. While it can't compare in quality to the previous two, I'd still recommend watching it as it completes the trilogy (by the way, DO NOT watch the original cut, watch the Assembly Cut which I guess 'assembles' the mess that the original was).

Confession - I've never seen the theatrical cut of this film, only ever the Assembly Cut and because of that I've never understood the antipathy this film generates in people. It's almost great, and it's mostly really good.

In terms of the overall storyline it feels like the most logical conclusion to the series. It's deeply, darkly nihilistic, but this is about the ultimate killing machine so it should be. All the characters from the last film had to be killed off because there is no happy ending as long as the Aliens are alive and Ripley knows it. She starts each film fresh, alone, her against the Alien. In order to stop it once and for all she makes the ultimate sacrifice, the martyrdom that the religious subtext and images are getting at. There's nothing left for her anymore, there never was in any film. This is the happy ending she deserves. She's a woman out of time and place that must make a selfless decision. It's a brilliantly fitting conclusion.

Honestly the biggest problems here concern the surrounding setup plot and some of the direction. More explanation behind the Queen Alien laying facehugger (that needed a wiki to explain away). The romantic subplot with the doctor that ends abruptly then Ripley moves on too fast (then again, maybe she's used to it?). Why do all the prisoners look the same?

The last half of the movie is paced poorly, with endless corridor chasing and trapping and running. It's clear based on this cut that Fincher was onto something but he wasn't the great director of precision he is now, at least in terms of suspense and thrills. The film is gorgeous to look at and the atmosphere is a bleak oppressive shroud you can wrap yourself up in.

True, the script is not as strong, being not as thought-provoking or as clever, the story does have its illogical parts(I can understand why people are upset at two characters being killed off, it was somewhat contradictory) and the characters aren't as well fleshed out as in the predecessors excepting Ripley and even she was better developed before. However, I do disagree it is one of the worst sequels ever, there are much worse I can think of. Yes it is the weakest of the series, but that's not to say it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The production design is excellent, and the editing is also skilled. David Fincher also does a surprisingly good job directing, by principally developing the maternal themes of Aliens. He has directed better, and he has done better films since, but that is no reason to dismiss his credible directing job on this film. The atmosphere once again is bold, the tone and feel here is more dystopian granted but there are still some good shocks and some unforgettable scenes especially the surgical operating scene and the final showdown, the latter of which is exhilarating. The acting is good enough, Sigourney Weaver is very good, while Lance Henrikssen's brief appearance helps too. Oh, and the tag line is the best of all the Alien movies in my opinion. Overall, Alien 3 is not in the same class as its predecessors, but I personally wouldn't go as far to say it is one of the worst sequels or movies ever. 7/10 Bethany Cox Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alien 3 is a sequel to Aliens directed by David Fincher. This movie starts off as a major WTF moment because it shows that the Queen from Aliens has laid an egg on board the ship that Ripley, Hicks, and Newt are hypersleeping in. The egg proceeds to open and a facehugger attaches itself to Ripley. The rest of the movie is Ripley trying to survive in a prison while trying to escape an alien which spawned out of a dog. The good things about this movie is that it has mixed feelings from Alien and Aliens, it has pretty good acting, and the Alien is extremely creepy. The bad things are that the Alien CGI is bad, the story is below average, and it has a crappy ending (Ripley dies) and it left me wanting more. Overall, Alien 3 is a mediocre film and sort of a dissapointment because of the bar set by the first two films. Expand

Alien 3 was his directorial debut, and he was given a massive $50 million budget to play with, in addition to having to live up to fans' expectations after the previous two marvellous films, Alien and Aliens, directed by Ridley Scott and the unsinkable James Cameron respectively. He had to start shooting without a script, and 20th Century Fox stuck their noses in the production so many times that I'm surprised he finished the film. But he did. And after all of that, the film turned out just as one would expect with all that going on - messy.

While the first Alien film finishes with Ripley shooting off into space as the lone survivor, with an unknown future ahead of her, the second film shows Ripley accompanied by two other characters (and a damaged robot). Alien 3 had so much potential to capitalise on this, and utilise Hicks and Newt to a great extent, giving Ripley a family of companions to accompany her through her battle with the creatures and The Company. But no. They are callously killed off in the opening titles, with seldom time to mourn them. This is the film's first big mistake, and is guaranteed to leave Aliens fans a little peeved.

The prison story is interesting enough, as Ripley is the lone woman on a barren prison planet full of deadly convicts. Moving on to Alien 3's next big mistake: the creature itself. Quite radically re-designed, this creature seems much less deadly than in previous films, exacerbated further by the tacky special effects. Having spent much of the first two films seeing very little of the creature, which builds fear and tension superbly, this film shows you a little too much, and one realises that the little Xenomorph isn't actually all that scary.

Nonetheless, the film isn't an entire disaster. Sigourney Weaver gives a naturally excellent performance, along with the rest of the cast doing a fine job as well. Furthermore, the musical score in the film is, in my opinion, the best in the Alien franchise. (This is understandable, as composer Elliot Goldenthal was given an entire year alongside David Fincher to finish the score, as opposed to the six or so weeks given to James Horner for Aliens.) And, last but not least, the film's emotional final scene is very well written, with great performances all round. The scene could (and probably should) have given a satisfying conclusion to the franchise, before the nightmarish Alien: Resurrection.

Overall, while the film makes the best out of a bad situation, the problems shine through, and there are far too many flaws in the film to consider it a classic. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Alien 3 and 4 ruin the franchise, but they most certainly put a downer on it. And Alien 3 is responsible for steering it off course. It is probably the worst film of the four. But it's alright, I guess.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. David Fincher's Alien 3 is a very messy film. The characters are pretty good I guess, mostly just Ellen Ripley. The story is a bit convoluted but it wasn't horrible. The CGI in some scenes are a bit stupid looking but I liked the new design for the new "Runner" xenomorph. In the end, this is an enjoyable film but also a big mess. Expand

Entertaining but little disappointing 2nd half, the music was great, the story was decent and the continuation of plot was good, the screenplay was okay and the acting was great all the characters in it were awesome the Ripley and the Priest and doctor with whole group of Crazy prisoners they were engaging and fun to watch.the worst thing in movie was The CGI and visuals they were terrible specially the Alien's CGI it felt like 8-bit model in H-D print in comparison to 1st movie which came out in 1979 which still holds-up and its stunning to look whereas this its worst, the whole 1st half was entertaining and engaging with best pacing and plot, the starting intro with plane crash and the bodies and the surviving Ripley knowing about dead little girl and captain from prequel it was sad.the doctors and Ripley's relation was amazingly developed and the prisons's set-up and environment was amazing with the condition of no women thing, the Secret of Doctor's past was little out of the topic.the 1st interaction of alien with prisoner and his entry from stomach of cow was disturbing and then the brutal situations with deaths were awesome from then the slow slow reveal of alien to everyone was exciting to watch.the Doctor's death in-front of Ripley was literally mind-blowing and surprising and then the death of ignoring Jailor In-Front of everyone was awesome from then on the survival thing for prisoner's was exciting, the Bishop's "android" meet and the conversations for help was amazing, the Priest helping Ripley as sister throughout the movie was amazing, the trapped alien scene afterwards was awesome until then the whole movie was exciting and engaging then from there on degrading factor to movie was started the Pissed crazy man rescuing alien from trap and the whole Survival thing for prisoners till climax in between that the Ripley's alien twist and the alien's 1-by-1 take down of prisoners was like its just happening it wasn't that impact-full but entertaining then the whole cat and mouse game at last with terrible CGI alien and Lazy jump-scares and worst camera angles it was the worst experience, the Ending rescue team entry and there conversation fight with Ripley after they defeat terrible Alien from Hot metal trap was okay but the ending for Ripley's journey it was disappointing and worst with her sacrifice although the tape of 1st movie voice of Ripley "singing off" playing before credits was awesome even though the whole 2nd half was bad and ending was little disappointing.overall the direction was good but the 2nd half was terrible and little degrading to amazingly engaging 1st half it was decent and entertaining movie!

It's the second worse out of all four Alien films but the number one spot still belongs to Alien: Resurrection in my opinion because Alien 3 was better than Resurrection. It's not the worst in the Alien series as many say it is. Alien: Resurrection is much worse but what do we know about Alien 3? We know David Fincher directed it in 1992 and Ripley crashlands on a male dominated prisoner planet and the planet is infected with live. The prisoners on the planet have no guns, no proper weapons so have to find old fashioned ways to destroy a new breed of alien scum lol... A rather dark and gloomy entry into the series but the action scenes are well done. Not that bad a film as everybody makes out. Expand

Did Gordon Ramsay direct this? F-bombs galore!

Sigourney Weaver remains a joy to watch, while Charles S. Dutton and Charles Dance are strong additions; Dutton especially. As for other positives, I enjoyed the score and the fact that we (seemed to) get way more of the alien itself; which is what I wanted from the first two, personally.

The plot isn't the greatest but is very watchable, the ending is pretty good. One criticism I do have is the dialogue, as alluded to at the top of my review. I've nothing against the use of swear words whatsoever, but man does this film overuse the f-word; it feels like every other word across the conclusion.

Overall, it's a definite drop down from the two very good predecessors, though I still got the required entertainment from 'Alien³'. A noteworthy directorial film debut for David Fincher.

Very dark, bit weaker than the first two installments and pretty good action scenes considering it had very little to work with. Despite the fact that David Fincher was hounded during production by studio execs that didn't trust him with the franchise, this turned out to be a good (not great) movie.

The characters and the humour are the best part of the movie. The story was torn apart so many times I'm impressed that it turned out half-decent at all. The Alien is not shown too much which I think adds something too. It's not as good as the previous movies, but in my opinion is far superior to the 4th.

The cream of the English actor crop appear in this movie, all giving good performances. RIP to some of them...

The movie more or less negates everything that happened at the end of Aliens. While many criticize this and Ripley's fate at the end of this movie, but I kinda liked the dark and gritty turn.

If anything Alien 3 is trying its hardest to mix the best of the first two movies, and for the most part it succeeds at that. The problem is that it deviates to far from the lore of the first two movies and generally feels like a step back. Not a bad step but one that could have been handled better.

Overall:
Alien 3 is not bad as far as sequels go, and miles better than many of the Alien movies that followed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One more time the Alien franchise veers into completely new direction. In contrast with horror and action predecessors, Alien 3 is a philosophical drama focused on evil inherent in every human, in some dormant, in others possessive and its conflict with our good side. The movie seems to be build around this juxtaposition: from interpenetration of monastery and prison, to contrast of benign creation (Bishop) with evil designer. The conclusion Fincher shows us is very dark: like shaving your head upon infection with lice, Ripley can defeat evil growing inside her only by self-sacrifice. Despite conflicts between David Fincher and the studio, this movie is a great addition to diverse and bright Aliens franchise. Expand

But instead of trying to top that film it creates a new experience more in the spirit of the original. The unfortunate Ellen Ripley crash lands on a desolate prison planet, the only survivor after the last films events. There are only a handful of prisoners there with a warden, medical officer and a preacher of sorts. Upon arriving she begins to search for the reason why he crashed and discovers the horrible truth the infamous xenomorph was responsible and has followed her to her location. Once there monstrous extraterrestrial bonds with an ox and than a canine taking a slightly different form. Once again she has to face it down and save as many people as possible. I appreciate the theatrical cut but the extended is where it's all at. For some odd reason they decided to cut all the action out of the film and it makes a huge difference pace wise. The performances from Sigourney Weaver and Charles Dutton are award worthy. To say that powerful is a definite understatement. The story really rounds itself out perfectly. Bringing a respectable end to Ripley's saga. The practical effects are impressive but the cgi doesn't hold up. All in all the movie is a criminally underrated piece of cinema. Directed stylishly by a young David Fincher it's ambitious in its scope and inspired in its execution.

The sound was stunning without doubt. The sets were amazing. It is closer to the first film than the second and this reverts to the far scarier single nearly invincible alien. It is really amazing how they continue the story right where the last left off. I had a few gripes with how the alien is born almost complete and how the eggs got onto the ship but when you really think about it these issues are present in all incarnations. Great story anyway. This is awesome and ends the trilogy where the first started. It is nearly perfect with a great atmosphere, suspense and a scary-ass alien. Back to the roots of the series in this suspenseful claustrophobic horror. Expand

Then, some six years later, James Cameron took elements from the first and crafted one of the best science fiction/action films of all time: Aliens. After two such superior efforts, anticipation was high for the third (and final?) installment of the trilogy, especially after early promotional campaigns offered the slogan: "On Earth, everybody can hear you scream."

Alas, Alien 3 is not the movie fans were hoping for. Sigourney Weaver is back as Ellen Ripley, but it's the writing and direction (by music video master David Fincher) more than the acting that lets us down. Plot inconsistencies abound and, by killing off Ripley's surrogate daughter Newt before the movie even begins, much of the emotional underpinning of the previous film has been rendered moot. A character with that much importance in determining the heroine's motivation deserves something more noteworthy than an off-screen murder. (Hicks is dead, too, but he was more disposable).

Alien 3 is, simply put, a mess. The writers have no idea how to tell a coherent, entertaining story. With the exception of a surprise or two, there isn't much worthwhile here. The storyline frequently doesn't make sense, with actions occuring for which no explanation is given. Direction, editing, and camerawork combine with the disjointed script to disorient and confuse the viewer. Given Fincher's background, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the movie looks like a music video. Another lackluster aspect of Alien 3 is its feeble score, while pales in comparison to James Horner's rousing work for Aliens.

The characters are paper-thin, in large part because there are too many of them. Had individuals been better-developed, their uniform unlikability might have been interesting, but, as it is, this trait is off-putting. The few denizens of Alien 3's prison planet given any personality are treated badly by the script. There are a number of action scenes, but, because of certain plot contrivances and an inability to feel for the characters, there's little excitement or suspense. At least the atmosphere is suitably dark and dreary.

As a science fiction or horror film, Alien 3 is barely passable, but, compared to its two predecessors, it's a sorry end to the trilogy. I enjoyed the first two films, but, in their wake, found this one barely watchable and not especially enjoyable.

I've got the whole collection in Christmas 2015 and when I look them all, I really got a reaction which I wasn't expecting. All 4 films have different versions. The first was Alien the Directors Cut, second is Aliens Special Edition which I think the Special Edition version is the highlight for the movie's effort. Why? Well, because Director James Cameron didn't prefer the original version on DVD, he prefer's it to the Special Edition version where you can see the missing scenes. The third is what I'm doing now which I'll tell you that in a minute and the fourth one did the same as the third. The film opens with Ripley getting impregnated by the face hugger and crash landed in a place where she had never been before. The dog is impregnated and the alien had come out of it's stomach and all hell is loose. Yeah, the list goes on. Now let me try and tell you about something of what I haven't seen before is there are missing scenes that wasn't in the original. There's a scene where Charles Dance had find Ripley's body where she crash landed. In the original version though, there are three or four men found Ripley's body along with Newt, Hicks and Bishop. The alien is inside the cow's body or you can call it a ox. Because of this, when you watch the assembly cut version, you will watch the ox get impregnated instead of the dog. And yes, the list goes on! I found the movie a mix bag and yeah, Sigourney Weaver is good but it doesn't save the glory of this science fiction horror with a mess story writing and I don't find the film to depressing. Try watching the assembly cut version, I f£$king dare you! Expand

It's the worst movie of alien's series. There are nothing new in the story compared to the previous alien's movies. It's hard to see that movie was realised by D. Fincher who's an incredible director.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is no need for me to give a long review of this film because it commits an unforgivable sin at the very start. We learn that both Newt and Bishop were killed in transit by a stowaway alien after the events of Aliens. This effectively and completely renders ALL of what transpired in Aliens pointless. Ripley's heroic rescue of Newt and the defeat of the alien queen were all for nothing. Not to mention, the relating of this outcome in Alien 3 made both Ripley and Bishop out to be complete idiots for not doing a thorough check of the ship after dispatching the egg-laying queen. Unbelievable butchering of the story simply to set up the third film. Alien 3's singular achievement was to destroy Aliens. For that reason I don't even consider the third film as canon, and as far as I'm concerned the story ended after the second film. I only give Alien 3 a 2 for the performances of Sigourney Weaver and Charles Dutton. Otherwise it's a 0. Expand

However lets start with the developmentRuined by development hell and a massive disappointment. After some thought over the years I think there is maybe a great movie underneath with concepts and psychological themes that I cant appreciate. However lets start with the development (hell): Many ideas and scripts were made. There was the idea of a wooden artificial planet or moon with monks, Hicks (Michael Biehn) as main actor, Earth as setting (this information came to public attention and harmed the movie) or the Alien home-world as setting to name a view. As you see there were some ideas with potential. Sadly they made this mess. One unforgiving mistake was negating the outcome of Alien 2. Wont spoil this but you will immediately note that they negate something important and this harms the movie and viewers expectations. Back to the story. After the events of the last movie Ellen Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver stranded on Fury 161 which is a prison colony. She is rescued but something survived too. Sounds promising and I can retell the story in a way that you will be hyped. Sadly the movie cant keep up. It has not the fear suspense and intensity of the first movie nor the action, emotions and immersion of the second movie. I am hesitating to call it boring and it is maybe uninteresting for me. Many other share however this opinion. It lacks to much we liked from the prequels. Like I said before maybe the psychological and sociological themes are great but this has no appeal for me and the mainstream. The special effects are a mixed bag and I later read that they rejected most of H. R. Gigers ideas for this movies which explains a lot. The ending however is great and a good conclusion except everyone knows that a successful franchise will always be continued. I think that the sets look fine and the atmosphere looks like the thing they want to archive. I cant rate the acting properly. On one hand I think everyone did a great job but on the other hand I dislike what they archived or aimed for. Would explain it with an excellent opera when you dislike opera in general and have no idea what they want to tell. Overall this was a disappointment for nearly everyone but financially successful enough to continue the franchise. Like most fans I will ignore that this movie exists and cant recommend it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Worst movie of the Alien franchise the film starts of with a massive plot hole with how did the eggs get aboard the Sulaco which is never explained and doesn't really make sense since the queen essentially attacked Ripley as soon as she got off the drop ship.Plus by the third films own logic the Sulaco should of been able to detect the egg for example when Ripley and the remains of Bishop access the escape modules recorder it managed to detect an unknown life form. Not too mention the treatment of Hicks and Newt characters people really liked by killing them off which is a slap in the face to fans of the previous film.
Besides Ripley none of the characters were really memorable they all kind of blended together and the way Andrews described them the sought of people you'd like to see a xenomorph tear apart.
The production problems this film had shows especially when you compare the original release to the Assembly cut the poor editing with the original version shows.
The ending of the film was pretty well executed with Ripley sacrifices herself to prevent the company from getting the creature and the films music was nicely done but other then that a real let down.

It may not be scary as it is, but while taking place in a prison planet may be a good idea, but it got messed up, some of the prisoners are dislikable and crazy, and Ripley has gone intro a echo trip.

Too much nothing to do, it'll make you doze off, and fall asleep. It was not good.

The story is not that good, and boring, mainly due to an unfinished script, and the film almost isn't as scary as the first two films at all, none of this movie have the same power as the first two movie, and the worse is, the scare factor is far below than of its predecessors of the first two films, in fact, the movie feels like a comedy, talking show and doing working and the characters picking up on a street than being a scary and a blockbuster sci-fi movie.

It's very predictable, Usually, you already get to know if the Xenomorph runner is on a prison planet right before the prisoners meet their death by the Xenomorph.

It went through development hell with the movie's quality of the movie suffers from a troubling development, especially regarding the script, it was supposed to be Ripley found herself in Arceon, the wooden planet with a Xenomorph in it, and...well, Twohy's proposed script was rejected and was followed by the first draft of what would become the final shooting script, and it was replaced with the prison planet in the final version of the movie.

Even if the movie tries to have some emotional moments, most of those scenes just have more exposition rather than talking about or showing how they feel or express what anyone loved to do.

There was a false advertising that in the teaser, the announcer states that "on Earth, everyone can hear you scream" implying that it was going to take place on Earth, but as mentioned above, it was actually set on a prison planet, and the Alien would not come to Earth until ''Alien vs. Predator'' in 2004. This is due to the script not being finished by the time the trailer was made. By far, Alien 3 is not a good sequel to the first two movies, well... not as bad as (cough) the fourth (cough) movie.

Special Edition (138 min)

That's very profound, Golic. Thank you.

This is me after every attempt this one makes to be an Alien sequel. To be honest, it's visually faithful to the franchise, but it's just the way it looks. The cinematography, as stunning and faithful to the franchise as it is, it neither captures the atmosphere nor the tension of the first two installments. Instead, it just ended up feeling gratuitously grim for the sake of it. Apart from the way it looks, the narrative is even worse. The film has some cool ideas, but it is so predictable and generic at its core. Moreover, it tries to conceal itself under the cloak of the franchise's tropes, and it failed miserably. What's even worse is that it also tries to slightly diverge from its predecessors. The plot, the suspense, the horror elements and the action all take a second seat to "character development and exploration". Well, the characters here can't hold a candle to the effortlessly well-rounded, genuinely characters of the original and its first sequel. Frankly, I didn't mind at first that the decision of discarding all the characters that we became completely invested in in Aliens, but here every try to give the characters some depth comes off as utterly pretentious, and the same goes with most of the lines they deliver, which feel superimposed and unnatural. Ripley and Clemens are the only two characters that I found tolerable. There's no need to say that Sigourney Weaver and Charles Dance are partly responsible for that. But apart from their acting and the chemistry they share, I think the dialogue between them is relatively better or at least slightly more interesting. Overall, though, Alien³ deserves all the notoriety it holds. It's awkward and disgusting and I just hate it, maybe not as much as Fincher does, but I still despise it. I have to admit it's not boring, though, especially the first half of it.

Alien 3 is the worst movie you will see in Alien franchise. I was expecting a lot after I came to know that it is directed by David Fincher film but all my expectations dropped with every minute of this movie.

Not a single moment of this film is frightening. We see all the "scares" coming, when they should be unexpected. The death scenes were bad. Newt was unnessarily shown killed in starting. All the new characters did bad acting and didn't had any character development. They only seem to be there so they can get killed by the alien. I am shocked that how this movie got Oscars for Best Visual Effects. They were so bad. This movie has nothing good in it. It caused me headache. Overall, I will not recommend this movie to anyone; not even my enemy.
