Holy Hell this movie was a huge surprise. A lot better then the previous. At first i was a little sceptic but my god was there so much suspense i almost screamed in the theatre because i wanted to know what was gonna happen, and the actingHoly Hell this movie was a huge surprise. Maybe the best sci fi movie of the past 30 years. The buildup is tense and the payoff had me digging my nails into the armrests. I'm going back again on Sunday. I loved it!

A surprising film that is compelling, disturbing and intriguing in equal measure. The performances are excellent, the pacing is beautifully executed, and the storyline is thoroughly engaging, with a number of moments I did not see coming. The claustrophobic setting coupled with the heightened tension of the plot made for a gripping, if somewhat stressful experience. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Be prepared for a very tense, jarring ride. There really is not much in the way of special effects in this film. Maybe 80% is the build-up with the survivalist stuff, but there are many subterranean thrills a la Mission Impossible, Hard Candy, and Night of the Living Dead (though not in the way you might think). The acting is excellent all-around. My only concern is that it gets a little campy toward the end when she escapes and is fighting the "baddies" (won't say what it is). I get the feeling she's doing an Ash impersonation from Evil Dead at times. Worth seeing, but certainly not among the genre's best.… Expand

I feel so bad for J. J. Abrams' films on Metacritic because they usually get flamed a lot by users. I bet they're going to do the same thing to 10 Cloverfield Lane. I bet they're going to do the same thing to 10 Cloverfield Lane. Now what I know what they don't know is that 10 Cloverfield Lane actually works as some sort of spiritual successor. The point is... how did this get such a higher score than the original Cloverfield? Cloverfield scored a 7 for me but this one manages to get an 8 thinking that 10 Cloverfield Lane is better than Cloverfield. Oh well, at least John Goodman managed to pull us off in this new lane we call it again... 10 Cloverfield Lane.… Expand
