I think Toe Jam and Earl 3 is really cool because it's funny, creative and original.

This game feels super pointless. You slowly wander around lame environments and have uninspired objectives to complete. One redeeming feature is the original characters and style. I wanted to like them, but they need to be in a better game to be mainstays.

My childhood was rough but it would have been even rougher without this game. It worked as a therapist for me. The way Toejam runs sends shivers down my spine. Easily beaten, Mission to Earth provides no real sense of accomplishment or finality. [Winter 2002, p.94]
  2. It simply can't compete with the genius of its many competitors, particularly the Sony first party efforts of late.
  3. Whilst extremely generic, it offers huge amounts of fun for the first few hours. Get past that however, and you soon realise that beneath the low brow gags and goofy gifts, there’s not a lot left to make it stand out from the crowd.
