  1. Getting used to the controls for this game might take a little bit, but once you do and see everything in action you will really enjoy all that this game has to offer.
  2. Thrillville is not for everyone, but it is perfect for those gamers that always wanted to try a simulation but were intimidated by PC keyboard overlays and Excel-like charts of data.

Aimed at pre-teens--some overly cutesy characters and patronizing narration make it a little too cloying for grown-up gamers--Thrillville hits its marks well on most fronts. [Jan. 2007, p.75]
  4. The dialog is well acted and quite humorous. The music is perfect for this game and maintains a consistently light and upbeat mood. It's hard to be in a bad mood when you're in Thrillville.
  5. It offers gamers a taste of just about every gaming genre out there and even finds a way to bundle them together and present them along with a light-hearted story.
  6. Probably doesn't have the depth to give it the long legs of other titles in the genre. [Dec 2006, p.130]
  7. Thanks to its rock-solid execution, Thrillville delivers an enjoyable batch of minigames in a lighthearted theme park environment.
  8. 75
Greatness is within Thrillville's grasp, but it doesn't push it all the way through.
  9. It may not be the most open ended theme park on the planet, but it's full of different ways to have fun, and that's what matters most. Buy the ticket, and take the ride.
  10. Talking with the guests is surprisingly engrossing. The dialogue options include an arsenal of cheap compliments and weird factoids, and the responses are often surprising.
  11. The character models are a little blocky and a little bit on the cartoony side; but they're innocent looking and play their roles adequately, [and] the look of the game could have been smoothed out a bit.

Of course, the combination of sim and action game is sometimes a bit jarring, making the game seem like it doesn't really know what it wants to be. Regardless, Thrillville is a fun game, and if you're a fan of sim games on the PC, this would be a good way to introduce the genre to a child or younger sibling.
  13. Offers a metric ton of activities for you to engage in. The sheer variety is unheard of for this genre (on a console anyway), and it all works. That said, little of it is outstanding, and while all the pieces are in place, there isn't a single aspect of this game that will blow you away.
  14. 55
It has lots of small pluses, but not enough of it feels new or captivating. Far too short on thrills, Okayville just needs more pizzazz.
  15. 50
The minigames will wear thin quickly for adults, while the management will prove too confusing for the little ones. If you love building roller coasters or playing party games with your buddies, you'd be better off with Rollercoaser Tycoon or Mario Party.
  16. Electronic Gaming Monthly

It's just mediocre all around. [Jan. 2007, p.106]

But there are a bit too many faults that make it difficult to say if this is really a great game. I do enjoy it. But it feels like it falls into the same problem that a lot games that claim they "Allow the player to create what they want" Is that you find yourself with a game that feels bare bones on objectives. So the game add missions to progress which kind of undermines the whole creative aspect. Still there is enough balance between the 2 to be enjoyable. The game also claims to have games within the game. To be fair, most are actually decent and can be a neat time killer. But most are rip offs of other games, or shallow attempts at certain genres. The graphics are a bit sub par. There not really bad, but do give off a slight unpolished feel to them. But there is something satisfying about building a theme park. Planning things out and watching your stats increase. That is enough for me to at least recommend checking this game out if your curious. This might be because of my nostalgia, but I do think this is kind of neat. Full Review »
