  1. A great improvement over "Rise of the Machines," and actually better than some games in a few ways, but still not in the higher ranking levels of current games.
  2. While there are times when much of what you do feels repetitious at times, the fast pace and challenging enemies will keep you more than busy.
  3. Manages to serve up a nice variety of ways to shoot the hell out of a lot of cyborgs as well as to keep things fresh and interesting throughout its relatively short, but still enjoyable 14 missions.

Quickly surmised, it's attractive, intense, and challenging, and for more dedicated gamers who looking to give their thumbs a workout despite a linear pathway, The Redemption is definitely worth a look.

Mired in repetition and some substantial balancing issues, a good deal of its simplistic charm dissipates after a short time. [Nov 2004, p.100]
  6. Great visuals and exciting gameplay warrant an eye out for a reduced price, but annoying AI and linear levels keep this title from the borderline of must-have-ness. A difficult one to rate, this; not superb, not average. Just in-between. And a credit to movie tie-ins.
  7. A fun romp through a film that many of us love, giving gamers a chance to take on the role of a seminal bad guy turned good guy in a game that isn't bad, but isn't great either.
  8. Now, it's possible that this game only looks as great as it does because the game it's following set those expectations so abysmally low, but even without taking that into consideration, it's still an incredibly fun game.
  9. While fun at times, Redemption quickly gets tedious and repetitive with its unforgiving, "win or die and try again" design. If you are a true masochist then Atari is ready to make you its little bitch.
  10. While the game itself is short, the levels are pretty long; and there are no checkpoints at all! This is a massive pet peeve of mine.

Direct correlation to the movie, plus a few added extras, will give you the feeling that you are a part of the action, and using the dual controls to the fullest, this game won't leave you feeling terminated.

Terminator 3: The Redemption is more interested in being a playable movie than a real game. There's little to no choice for players, who just have to sit back and shoot everything.
  13. Providing enough levels to grind through and enemies to blast, along with a good challenge level and the kind of presentation that does James Cameron's franchise proud.
  14. The levels are so big and detailed that it's a wonder they don't bring your console to a crashing halt.
  15. Definitely a fun romp and has just enough variety to keep you interested enough to finish it.
  16. Manages to provide 14 levels of limited variety, although the levels are rather short they are quite enjoyable.

While nothing particularly special is definitely the best Terminator game for a long time.
  18. Mindless fun like we have here is really meant to be enjoyed with another person, but unfortunately the co-op mode doesn't offer enough guts.
  19. The high difficulty will be a major cause of frustration to quite a high number of you out there, so those on the lookout for an easy ride may be well advised to steer well clear.

If nothing else, the game certainly captures the dumb, single-minded spirit of the films. I'm not a fan of the series, but I did have fun with Redemption, despite its total lack of depth. For a while, that is.
  21. If you are looking for a game that is reminiscent of your standard shooter coin-op that used to be found in your local arcade, then look no further because Terminator 3: Redemption will be right up your alley.

Redemption gives some luster back to the Terminator name but not much. [Nov 2004, p.102]

It's not innovative or great in any regard, but it does provide plenty of explosions and challenge. It's also far and away the only decent game to yet come from the franchise.
  24. If you can derive entertainment from this then good for you, but just don't get your hopes up T3 fans.

The whole game becomes rather monotonous, despite attempts at adding replay value. [Nov 2004, p.124]
  26. The film came out a year ago and we've already endured one tragic game offering. This one is far better than that mess (which admittedly isn't saying very much) and despite its fundamental flaws, the game delivers some decent fun.

It feels like you're constantly going through the same motions - although there are some really cool sequences. [Oct 2004, p.75]

Full Review »

This is what T3: Rise of the Machines should have been! An outstanding combination of story with non-stop suspense.

Incredible high octane fun. The repetition can grind a bit, but this is greatly off-set by original ideas and thrill a minute gameplay. The Incredible high octane fun.
