As much as it pains me (a long-time SNK fighting fan) to say this, SVC Chaos is probably the worst overall fighter I've ever played from SNK.
-
2D fighting games are struggling to stay alive in an ever-growing industry, and developers need to really pull out all the stops to wow us. Unfortunately, Chaos feels too much like the same old thing.
-
There's an embarrassment of riches in the genre on Xbox, so why embarrass yourself with this?
-
With the wonderful "Street Fighter 3" and "Guilty Gear X2 Reload" on the Xbox, there's really no need to even touch this despite its low price.
-
The 2D grainy characters and low-color, static, and minimalist backgrounds may have been acceptable in an arcade 10 years ago or on a Sega Genesis, but do you really want to see graphics like these on your Xbox?
-
Xbox Nation MagazineBesides its fine-tuned sense of the absurd, this is an undisciplined mess. [Dec 2004, p.86]
-
Fails for a few different reasons, but the big one is a simple lack of consistency. A good fighting game is governed by clear, well-defined rules and directed through precise, responsive commands. Chaos doesn't have either.
