Anemically lackluster gameplay and hideously sparse graphics do this game absolutely no service.
-
The stealth gameplay has been done better countless times, and the combat is just plain bad.
-
If there is one place where Stolen has the edge over Splinter Cell it's probably the minor gameplay mechanics like lock picking and computer hacking.
-
It's a game populated by animatronic mannequins, its plot driven by flat, unsympathetic characters. Worse, the dumb AI destroys any sense of danger, so the tension that runs through great stealth games never materializes.
-
It's just so generic, despite its few twists, and its B-grade action movie cinematics and plot are absolutely the stuff of dozens of other also-ran action games of the current generation.
-
The game's shortcomings seal its fate and leave it miles behind the likes of Sam Fisher and Solid Snake, whose latest endeavors are far more worth your investment.
-
Official Xbox MagazineMostly, it's recipe for frustration. [July 2005, p.85]

games(TM)A grubby looking, badly conceived and hastily programmed game that does nothing for the genre except add unnecessary limitations. [Apr 2005, p.110]
