I actually liked this game and thought it was fun, but then again - I'm not that hard core a gamer. I feel sorry for the people who seem to hate most of the games they play.

Stolen is a bit of a hidden gem but with a buyer beware caution. I found that this game was quite good in the sense of immersion but I had to put a good effort into enjoying the game because the user interface wasn't ideal. For me I had to try this game not once, nor twice but three times to start appreciating it. Play one I needed a manual to adjust the default controls...the wording inStolen is a bit of a hidden gem but with a buyer beware caution. I found that this game was quite good in the sense of immersion but I had to put a good effort into enjoying the game because the user interface wasn't ideal. For me I had to try this game not once, nor twice but three times to start appreciating it. Play one I needed a manual to adjust the default controls...the wording in the manual makes sense and seems opposite the options in game. After solving that I played my second time only to discover the mapped controls were functional but not ideal, so now I could enjoy the game but struggle a bit. Upon my second attempt playing I was quite impressed with the gameplay, it was quite fun and immersive however still a bit tiring. By playthrough three I am now learning to proceed in the game quickly however the mapping is still not ideal although functional. So upon playthrough three I have decided that this game is warty but probably worth the effort. Some of the concerns about fighting and camera alignment are valid, these are very weak points of the game but I feel they are mostly intentional since this is a stealth game not a fighter. Congruent with that is that the AI is as it is. They are challenging enough leaving opportunities so that the stealth aspects of the game are playable but not outlandishly difficult nor easy. All in all I felt this was a fantastic game that just needed a better interface in the way of controller and in game mapping. After becoming more experienced and familiar with the game I'm thinking the game is worthy of a 7/10 rating however getting there surely deserves a full point deduction for sub ideal layouts. One other interesting observation...the game is supposed to be 720p however I've played many 480p games which seem more detailed. ??? Expand

Sadly, encounters with enemy AI - particularly in combat - are by far the weakest link in an otherwise enjoyable effort. [Apr 2005, p.98]

A grubby looking, badly conceived and hastily programmed game that does nothing for the genre except add unnecessary limitations. [Apr 2005, p.110]
