The narrative style (present action woven with flashbacks) is interesting, and the mechanics are mostly solid, so it is definitely worth investigating - especially if one finds the Xbox's "action-hero-with-amnesia" library lacking. [Nov 2004, p.94]
  2. Crisp of cut-scene, blessed with a refreshingly light touch and low-key compared to the po-faced chest-beating of its peers, Second Sight could well be a high water mark in storytelling through games (as opposed to storytelling around them). [Oct 2004, p.104]

Second Sight's fair share of nice touches (such as weapons handling and level design) demonstrate terrific attention to detail. It's a shame, then, that these minor good points seem to be offset by the game's failings in several more important areas. [Oct 2004, p.110]
  4. Ultimately, this game has its merit, as it makes for a decent story and some entertaining psychic powers, but poor gameplay makes for an extremely frustrating game, until you're pretty far along.
  5. It is unfortunate that many of the implemented features aren't as polished as they could have been, and that the enemy AI is so woefully inadequate. Still, its unique blend of stealth action and psychic powers warrants it as at least a rental.
  6. Sadly, the often cumbersome controls and sometimes lackluster execution of its psychic abilities means the excellent narrative has to carry the bulk of the title's weight.
  7. In the end though you get over the gimmicks and realize that this is a fine title to play for ten hours out of a weekend then it is time to move on.

There is never a break in the action, and even with the obvious emphasis on ESP, the bullets never stop flying.

A mixed bag of tricks. It's a good game with an above average tale to tell, and that just about keeps it afloat above those niggling game play faults.
  10. Second Sight's visuals are a little dull, and the game isn't as violent or flashy as its rival Psi-Ops. But where Second Sight does excel is in the balancing of the story with some innovative gameplay elements.

Technologically well crafted, with good controls, graphics, and story - but without the freedom of superior mentalist "Psi-Ops." [Nov 2004, p.130]

Here's the problem: both the action-packed style and the stealth style show promise, but neither is fully polished.

Using Vattic's psychic abilities can be immensely enjoyable, especially when he learns to pick up people and smash them through windows. However, when the novelty of the psychic powers wears off, the game seems like an average third-person adventure with drab environments and awkward controls.

Taken as an interactive movie it's not so bad. It's engrossing but it's not engaging. I felt as though I were watching a show and not so much a part of it. Definitely a renter.
  15. It looses out to "Psi-Ops" in the battle for 2004's greatest psychokinesis-3rd-person-action-adventure in a big way, taking a solid idea and inventive story-telling then butchering it with wayward controls, lame combat and weak as piss gameplay.
  16. 70
The story is solid, the looming sense of the unknown is engaging, and the sheer, mind-bullying fun of building up "psi-ence fictional" powers make Second Sight a rewarding game.
  17. A highly enjoyable thriller that has a nice mix of stealth and action. The game's story will make you want to beat it quickly (it'll take between 10 and 20 hours), but you'll have a lot of fun doing so.
  18. 60
Disappointingly dull opposition and having to strictly adhere to the game's go-here-do-this structure keep this title from being a great or remarkable game.

And the story is one of the best I've seen in video games it's simple and clean and good and a voice acting and character models to look amazing
, Disc games made with love and I recommended it and of its dirt cheap so go and buy it, Ps, The soundtrack is an amazing under your skin in a good way

It has a very appealing story with great cinematics and the gameplay is incredibly well balanced. Only the level design gets a bit repetitive after some hours. Nevertheless, this third person telepathic action game is an absolute recommendation! Full Review »
