  1. It’s almost mind boggling how the opponent can easily deflect your super power kicks but totally not catch the weaker shots you happen to unleash.
  2. It still takes the same exciting type of "no rules" approach that the previous games have taken, but RedCard resembles the actual sport of soccer far more than, say, a two-on-two basketball game represents actual NBA play.
  3. Surprisingly enough Midway has done a fantastic job keeping the game real enough to keep hardcore soccer fans satisfied.
  4. A unique title with controls too complex for an arcade title and action too ridiculous for a simulation.

A merely adequate, uninspired, but occasionally funny soccer game. [Oct 2002, p.108]

Serious soccer fans won't get all of the authenticity they want and casual arcade fans won't get all of the thrills they expect from a Midway game entitled RedCard soccer.

The beautiful grass texture made us feel all outdoorsy and sexy. [Fall 2002, p.121]

In North America we call it the poor mans sport because to play hockey or football, it costs some decent Money for gear which leaves soccer and basketball. all you need is just a ball and that’s it. Soccer is the only sport that turns men into chicks because if you look at your opponent the wrong way..they fall and you may get a yellow card. If you put your hand on them at all or they make a mistake of falling themselves..ohhh look..he’s hurt. When it’s just them playing all girly. Soccer is pretty dumb actually..but then there’s games like Mario strikers charged or fifa street that actually make such a stupid sport so dam fun. I seen red card 2003 on a let’s play and it looked awesome...full contact soccer...no way..this should be pretty awesome..turned out it was really a kick butt game. The gameplay is truly fun because hey..who doesn’t like drop kicking a player into the shadow realm and not getting penalized for it. It’s all out crazy and fun. These kinds of games though don’t make that great of profit because the sim loser chicks say..this makes soccer dumb..really...how is that so you eurotrash fools. No wonder why the announcers go crazy when the offensive team almost scores because it may not happen the rest of the match..it’s so boring...but if soccer was like red card..you can believe the real lads of the universe..North Americans would watch it. Goalie's AI is weak, it is too easy to find a hot spot to score from everytime, hard to get control of the ball(trap it), free kicks are hard to understand, no curve control(if there is then they should tell you), and a lot of the times u get frustrated because you go right through the guy u r trying to tackle. even with all the cons you're prolablly sayin scr*w this game, but this game is worth it. it is thee funniest soccer game i've played(besides the ones u used to laugh at on sega and super). you get a great feeling nailing the ref for a bad call or for fun. this game is sweet, creavity, and of course FUN. a definite game to waste 5 dollars to rent. I would like to see a sequal.... c'mon midway u always make games better then their ancestors. Expand
