Play MagazineRayman 3's most awesome attribute, as incredible as the movies, dialogue, and gameplay are, is a level of visual splendor that defies everything I've come to know about lighting effects in a video game. [Mar 2003, p.47]
-
Ubi Soft gives their mascot the star treatment and it pays off in a game that captures the real fun of platform hopping, environmental puzzle solving, and boss character combat. Rayman 3 is a treat.
-
Official Xbox MagazineIt's the gameplay in Rayman 3, though, that really keeps you hooked. [Apr 2003, p.84]
-
A solid platformer that absolutely drips with style.
-
Doesn't blow the doors off "Rayman 2," but it does further refine the formula, is completely worthy of the Rayman name, and is also the best platformer on the Xbox thus far.
-
It doesnt aim to break the mould or do anything particularly innovative, but instead relies on proven ingredients and a good line in humour to keep things ticking.
-
The camera and the linear fashion of the levels didnt make me a Rayman convert but I did have fun especially with those drug-inspired transition sections. Far out, man!
-
Cheat Code CentralI didn't find this game particularly challenging but it's still loads of fun.
-
I hesitate to call it a nice try, because in some ways it didn't even really do that.
-
Bad voice decisions and an inexplicable step back in control tightness make Rayman 3 a disappointment, especially given the series usually extraordinary standards.
-
Xbox Nation MagazineThese bright spots don't really offset the repetitive, frustrating, and sometimes just plain dull parts. [Apr 2003, p.84]
-
Edge MagazineThere's a certain amount of wit and flair evident throughout Hoodlum Havoc's cut-scenes, and there are certainly some very slick production values. The problem is that, in terms of raw enjoyment, the game is somehow underwhelming. [May 2003, p.104]
-
GMR MagazineSnide voice acting turns cutesy bit players Globox and Murfy into electronic annoyances, and Hoodlum Havoc revels in its lame humor. [Apr 2003, p.68]
