  1. A very fast arcade-style game that is positively overflowing with character.

Not only is it very realistic in it’s approach to the game, it is, hands down, the most fun and funniest golf game I have played.
  3. The most innovative and clever thing to come to golf video games in a long while is Outlaw Golf's Composure Meter.
  4. The major factor holding Outlaw Golf from being a top tier golf game is its unforgiving control system.
  5. Sure, most of the game is from left field, but there’s actually enough realistic action to satisfy golf cart owners.

Imagine if "Hot Shots Golf" had been developed by Larry Flynt Publications, and you might have an idea of the humor and content included in this otherwise sharp-yet-strangely-normal golf game. [August 2002, p.81]

Although Outlaw Golf isn't on the same level as "Hot Shots 3," It's about 10 times as funny. [July 2002, p.87]
  8. Outlaw Golf is a golf game that relies too heavily on gimmicks and forgets about simple things that should be standard in a golf game (simulation or arcade) like the lie affecting the ball.
  9. Outlaw Golf's attitude lies solely in presentation, and while some may initially be turned off by the title's seemingly juvenile humor, the game's personality quickly grows on the player.
  10. 72
Featuring a cast of outrageously lewd characters, Outlaw Golf has humor in bunches, but doesn't manage enough solid golf gameplay to make it a true winner.
  11. A great golf game that actually has pretty impressive physics and realism.
  12. 72
Difficult to learn and a little gimmicky, but an enjoyable golf game nonetheless.
  13. Don't be fooled by its outward appearance: Outlaw Golf is still a surprisingly realistic golf game, complete with spins, hooks, slices, and breaks and the sort of complexity you might expect from a straightforward golf sim.

Outlaw Golf can be played and thoroughly enjoyed on the couch. [Fall 2002, p.121]
  15. It makes you laugh and frustrates in equal measure and that is surely the games main problem, for every yin it has a yang and never reaches the sum of its parts.
  16. I know that a large amount of people will pick it up merely for the sex and violence the game portrays. But I think that a lot of golf enthusiasts or curiosity seekers may actually enjoy taking a look at this title.

What took me by surprise was the rather deep, involving golf game that lies beneath the crass interior. [Sept 2002, p.152]
  18. Funny, witty and cool, Outlaw Golf also manages to be a bit on the shallow side and wear thin too easily.
  19. 70
There's a detailed enough golfing sim hidden underneath and one that is likely to be long-lasting as a competitive game, relying as good cutthroat titles do on balanced amounts of skill and luck.
  20. 60
Once you know all the jokes in Outlaw Golf, it starts to lose its appeal. If you take away all of the game's "Smackdown" humor and attitude, all you're left with is a decent golf title.

While I really like beating the crap out of my caddy (girl on girl never looked so good), I wish the interface had a few more nuances and a more comphrehensive putting mechanism. [Jan 2003, p.78]
  22. The golf engine is solid, the visuals are striking, and the play modes are impressive. A few tweaks to the interface, more courses, and less reliance on scripted cut-scenes would put this title right in the same league as "Tiger Woods PGA Tour" series, which is great company to be in.
  23. A very mediocre game. The actual play mechanics are solid, but the abundance of white-trash gimmickry gets in the way.

Unlocking can get a little tedious because after you unlock a good set of clubs, you only have them for the one character you accomplished it with. Everyone ends up being the same character in a multiplayer game for that reason. "White trash" talk can get a extremely repetative, but it can be humorous. Certainly fun to work towards mastering the game. As far as a golf game goes, I would recommend it to most people. The game gets better as you improve your clubs, your control, your accuracy, etc. Forget worrying about composure because you can always beat up your caddy to improve that. I've got LOTS of hours tied up in this game because it's not as serious as other golf games and it's relatively easy to start for the beginner (I actually like it better than Tiger Woods golf because of its relaxed atmosphere). If you don't like the real game of golf, this game is definitely for you! Full Review »

Not a bad game, plays very well similar to real golf. Tour play is a must so you can improve your skills. Not worth $50 but a good buy used.
