What really wins this skins match is multiplayer: "Tiger" doesn't do it on Xbox, while Links not only offers multiplayer tourneys, but also the promise of new downloadable courses. [Dec 2003, p.82]
  3. But however good a game this may be, it's still left falling off the shoulders of a true giant, and even without online play and custom soundtrack options "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004" still hits the clubhouse well ahead of its rival.

The problem is that it just doesn't play right. The physics system for the ball is out of whack. There is often no predicting what it will do. [Nov 2003, p.171]
  5. Not a bad game by any means-it's simply one that tries to be many things to many different people and it doesn't quite succeed at any of them.

Create-a-Golfer is utterly underwhelming, and...simple shot challenges don't amount to exciting minigames. [Dec 2003, p.226]
  7. Its online play is unique to the genre on the Xbox and the gameplay itself is decent. But the lack of compelling game modes, the underwhelming Career and the somewhat bland delivery make this old classic just look old.

There's plenty to do and see (within the golf spectrum, naturally) but at the end of the day, there's just not enough real magic to keep you coming back for more. [Christmas 2003, p.125]

Takes golf videogames back to the '80s when it was a boring, elitist sport. It looks to have completely disregarded the shifting of the guard that took place when a certain tiger-striped phenom stepped onto the scene.
  10. After getting used to the motion, it became too easy to hit straight/long shots. However, I will say that the short-iron part of the game (especially wedges) left me guessing how to gauge distance. This added a certain difficulty to the game, especially at higher levels when the game didn't kibitz.

A l'époque, j'avais lâché le jeu rapidement sans me souvenir exactement pourquoi : maintenant je sais. Bref, tellement mal foutu que le moindre coup équivaut à un lancer de dés. A ce tarif, autant jouer au Loto. Full Review »

The crown definitely goes to Links 2004 for creating a truly beautiful picturesque game that airs on the side of simulation. This game has better graphics, gameplay, audio, and computer AI. This is the hands down the best golf game on the market. Full Review »
