    As a halo fan back in the day, I can tell you that this game is AMAZING! It's an all time classic, with an interesting story, fascinating mythoes, great combat, and stellar co-op. The graphics aren't great, but what do you expect from a game made over 10 years ago? Anyone who talks s**t about this game might have played it recently, thinking "Why are the graphics so crap?     Fantastic, this game doesn't just offer some of the best multiplayer fun you will get from any FPS game, its campaign is just as good. The Story in Halo and the characters to add are just simply great. If you haven't played Halo then you are missing out. Best FPS since Half Life (PC) and Perfect Dark (N64)

    A great game in my chilhood, i have very precious memories of this game, it is a great game to start a great series. bring on the master cheif collection. 9/10

    One of the best games in the best franchise ever created. Revolutionized console FPS, and showed how Xbox, being the underdog in 2001, was exponentially better than Playstation 2.

    I have a confession to make, this was the first time I have never sat down and played through the campaign of Halo before. The sad truth is, I never had the chance. I grew up with Nintendo’s and PlayStations so when I purchased an Xbox this year, its the first Xbox I have ever owned. So naturally, one of the first things I wanted to play was Halo so I bought the Master Chief collection. II have a confession to make, this was the first time I have never sat down and played through the campaign of Halo before. The sad truth is, I never had the chance. I grew up with Nintendo’s and PlayStations so when I purchased an Xbox this year, its the first Xbox I have ever owned. So naturally, one of the first things I wanted to play was Halo so I bought the Master Chief collection. I plan on playing the Halo 2, 3 and 4 in the next several months.

    So looking at this game in 2017, it’s still a solid game with great shooting mechanics. I can say with absolute positivity that this game has aged well. Obviously, with the Master Chief Collection, it’s gotten some work was done to it aesthetically but it looks fine. The shooting felt very tight, I didn’t like the default control scheme but the game allowed me to change that and once I made the switch. It felt good.

    My big complaint about this game is the level design though. It felt like I would go through an area, reach the destination and then have to backtrack and redo everything I just did. In some areas, it felt like I did that multiple times. There were some levels where I just completely got lost because everything looked the same. My hope is the developers learned this and fixed this in future iterations.

    Halo is an iconic series and I feel like all gamers should play Halo and I feel more like a true gamer now that I’ve experienced Halo. Its still aged well and I do recommend picking up the collection.    … Expand

    Comme titre de lancement de la première Xbox, il était assez impressionnant avec notamment des environnements assez grands et la possibilité de conduire pas mal de véhicules. Bien que n'étant pas un monde ouvert, l'effet "couloir" en était de fait sensiblement réduit. Son inspiration pioche un peu partout dans le monde foisonnant de la SF tout en assurant sa propre identité.

    On note tout de même un goût douteux ici et là en ce qui concerne les ennemis, les couleurs criardes et les "pioupious" des armes en général, l'impression n'est pas toujours très sérieuse... L'ambiance qui reste décidément "curieuse" profite cependant d'une bonne VF et d'excellentes musiques.

    Si la jouabilité est soigneusement réglée et l'interface sans reproche, l'architecture des niveaux laisse parfois à désirer avec des intérieurs copiés-collés à l'infini sans parler évidemment des niveaux de la Bibliothèque qui souffrent d'une répétition incroyablement pénible aussi bien graphiquement que dans son déroulement qui ne cesse de vomir des ennemis ad nauseam.

    Quelques grands moments dans un jeu globalement bien mis en scène côtoient ce genre de défauts d'équilibrage avec encore trop d'endroits où l'on attend en tournant en rond que le prochain script se déclenche après avoir nettoyé une zone. Gratifiant et énervant, Halo souffle trop souvent le chaud et le froid par intermittences imprévisibles, ce qui le rend fatigant à long terme.    … Expand

    But the level design is atrocious, and I mean that in all its negative severity. There are very few quest markers, and when they are present, they don’t show you where to go, only where you need to end up. I spent just as much time enjoying the shooting as I did lost and frustrated, staring at the same hallways over and over, wondering where I was going wrong.

    And when I did find where I was supposed to be going, Halo CE took a dead halibut and slapped me in the face with it. This game is HARD, y’all. Between the Flood level that finds you frantically running from enemies spawning endlessly all around you, to chain grenade explosions that kill you without having done anything wrong, you will die a lot, so I hope you have an excellent podcast on, because you won’t want all your attention to be on this. It’s too frustrating.

    All of this, for a story that probably wasn’t particularly good even in its prime. You can see the twists and turns coming from last Tuesday (and I say that as a gamer who was somehow not previously spoiled).

    TL;DR : I do not recommend this game. The levels are confusing mazes, the gauntlets that the game makes you run are too daunting even on Normal difficulty, and the story was your average action movie you can stream on Netflix.    … Expand

    It's undeniable that this is one of the greatest- If not the greatest game of all time. But it's aged. The plot was solid but nothing special and I'm not the biggest fan of the combat, but I can tell how great it is. My main problem is the random spikes in difficulty that ruined a large portion of my play through. I understand I'm not the best at games. But there are plenty of hard games IIt's undeniable that this is one of the greatest- If not the greatest game of all time. But it's aged. The plot was solid but nothing special and I'm not the biggest fan of the combat, but I can tell how great it is. This is not one of them. In the library level, if you lose guilty spark, prepare to **** around for the next 30 minutes looking for him. What she didn't say was whether we'd be on the island together. If we could be on a desert island, with some food, four TVs and four-player networked Halos, bring it on, baby!!     Dis game is tight. Just buy one game for xbox and you'll be satisfied. Play the storymode with 2 players too. Save your men. Get in the scorpion. I can't wait till halo 2 comes out. I'v played it with my sister like ten times. We couln't stop playin until 3:00 in the mornin!

    This is quite simply the best FPS ever made. The action is non-stop and totally intense. The multiplayer game mode has tons of great settings and features. The story, dialogue, and soundtrack are all very entertaining. Altogether a phenomenal game, and one of the few FPS's for XBox worth picking up.

    Everyone who said this game is repetitive didnt name a game that wasnt. maybe if u had a sense of direction u wouldnt find urself in the same looking type of room. now play this game and go whack so hunters w/ ur rocket launch and have some fun, beating ur friends in this game. hiding in ur secret spot. this game may not be soo great but guess whut it is the best out there.

I can think of so many other games that deserve to be crowned the best, this doesn't. There just is not enough weapons or enemies in it.     This game is the best for anyone who loves first person shooter games. It's multiplayer and everything is flawless in mess-ups or problems. Halo is definitely the best game ever made!!!!

    This game is by far the coolest game i've ever played. I was suspicious at first about it, but when I played it, it was addictive. it has the best graphics and a great plot, it offers a great challenge and a great way to spend lost hours.

    Great game. Excellent graphics, sound fx, music, gameplay, and multiplayer. To those who complain it drags down multiplayer, are pretty much fanatics of Counter-strike. The single player mode along would give it a 10, adding a multiplayer would not drag it down, however you may think.

    Truly amazing. Only very few glitches, and most of them are funny to explore. The graphics, gameplay, weapons, vehicles, AI, everything is so amazing in this game. You have an xbox-BUY. You don't-feel bad for yourself.

You play as Master Chief who is the last remaining Spartan II super soldier. All the other Spartans were wiped out in an attack on a Covenant cruiser and a desperate attempt to keep planet Reach from Halo is by far the best first person shooter of all time. The game was planned for the pc but it turned out to be the single best launch game and still the best game to date for the Xbox. You play as Master Chief who is the last remaining Spartan II super soldier. All the other Spartans were wiped out in an attack on a Covenant cruiser and a desperate attempt to keep planet Reach from falling into Covenant hands. Now in the year 2552 Master Chief John, Spartan 117 is the last Spartan and the last hope for mankind. The game's campaign mode takes you through 10 fast paced levels of non stop action. As the game starts you are onboard the Pillar Of Autumn and are just coming out of cryo sleep. The ships captain is obviously in a hurry because he doesnt even take the time to issue you a weapon when you come out of cryo sleep. You soon find out the ship is under attack by the Covenant. The captain gives you a pistol when you get to the bridge and the action begins. And if you think the Covenant are a tough enemy wait till you see what is locked away beneath the surface of the ring world Halo. The campaign also features two player co-op mode and there is a vs mode for as many as 16 players over system link. This game is flawless and will remain the best Xbox game until Halo 2 comes out early next year.… Expand

    The only game I've played that could come to Halo's level is Frequency for PS2. The things I like about this game are the music, the graphics, and the storyline. I wish I could give it a 20.

If you say the levels are repetitive you're a moron, think about it, when you go into a building every time you enter a new room does it look any different then the last one? its called a structure, the rooms are supposed to look the same you idiots. The multiplayer is fantastic the controls are awesome and AI and If you give it lower then a 10 you're horrible at the game. If you say the levels are repetitive you're a moron, think about it, when you go into a building every time you enter a new room does it look any different then the last one? its called a structure, the rooms are supposed to look the same you idiots.     GoldenEye for the N64 set the standard for a console FPS and it is finally dethroned after all these years by the mighty Halo. I have played and beaten Halo on every difficulty setting and with all four game saves of each difficulty on my hard drive unlocks a really really cool options menu to include an even harder difficulty "Valiant."     The best shooter ever! Halo is one of the best games ever created! Great graphics. The ultimate game for Xbox. Unbelievably fun for anyone 12 and higher(I'm twelve). Good assembly of weapons. This game kicks any other shooter game's ass. I can't wait to get Halo 2. My favorite game for Xbox. The best.

    Incredible action, diverse environments and an engaging story make this a must have game. In particular, the first encounter with the Flood is creepy and tense, a complete, and welcome, surprise in the middle of the game. The only downside is the repetition of some of the action, though this is a very slight annoyance and in no way detracts from the overall achievement of Bungie.

    It's fun, for sure, but not THAT fun. The outdoor levels totally rule but the indoor levels are extremely repetitive -- repetitive enough to warrant knocking a couple points of its score. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not a hater -- just being fair and honest. It seriously seems like the developers just wussed out on the indoor environments.

    The combat system is amazing. Eventually, just the need to survive the waves of enemies is almost overwhelming. Satisfying from begining to end.

    It's a great game, i remember it was one of the first xbox games i played when i first got it, the other was KOTOR 1, though i was still a kid back then, and i was afwaid of the fwood. only one problem was that it had no XBOX LIVE! The online PC version had horrible network and didnt work to well as well, but Halo 2 did great with XBL.

    Halo is a classic. It is hands down the best game I have ever played. Even when you finish it in one final leap it keeps drawing you back. Oh, and the musical score... I could go on all day. Love the game.

The feel is just right for aiming, the ability to throw grenades at any time is ingenius, and the recharging health system is seen in more and more shooters all the time.     Halo makes a great first impression, but in the end it can't live up to all of the hype. Shameless cut-and-paste level design is abundant from start to finish, and quickly degrades into a run-and-gun corridor crawl. Halo is an above-average game, but it could have been much better.

    A legendary game. People say that the hype for the game outwieghed the content, this happened in my experience with such games as San Andreas and Gears of War. But I never hyped for Halo because I never had an xbox, but then my mate slapped me across the face and I came to my senses. When I got it I was completely stunned, never had I played a game like it.

    This game is what To Kill a Mockingbird or Gone With the Wind are in the reading world! The story could've been a little better, but was still really engaging with the flood plot twist and all.     This is the best FPS of all time! I should know since I've played COD, GOW, Counter-Strike, you name it, I've played it. All of those games put together will still be a piece of crap compared to Halo 1. If you hate this amazing game, you have either never played it or have terrible taste in games.

    This game is an all-out blast. The storyline is incredibly unique and action packed, not leaving you without wide-eyes for the entire game. Multiplayer is a bit on the lax side, but is still fun none-the-less.

    I've played a lot of PC FPS games (mainly single player) since the original Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Unreal, Half Life... I loved Half Life and the sequel because they really moved the whole genre on a notch and did things that you never thought a game of that type could do. Halo is like that and pushes the bar even further with an amazingly detailed vision of future warfare. Halo is like that and pushes the bar even further with an amazingly detailed vision of future warfare. I would say that the graphics are INCREDIBLE given the year and the power available in an old Xbox - wait until you get onto Halo itself and you look out from a clifftop over a sea that slowly curves up into space. Stunning, even 7 years later. AI is terriffc, with genuinely tricky enemies throughout. Sounds are superb also. The story, cut scenes and so on will be very much appreciated by lovers of proper science fiction like Larry Niven's Ringworld. If you've never played this game, it is seriously worth going out and buying an old 2nd hand Xbox!… Expand

    This isn't just a first-person shooter. It is a new bar for shooters. Not raising the bar. It made its own. I honestly believe that this may be the best first-person shooter of all time, and it is certainly my new favorite.

    Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! Love it! It could more levels (10 is a little stingy) and though there arnt many rewards for beating the game, I find myself playin it over and over. its the only game I have for the Xbox, and I'm not complaining
