Game InformerI'd rather be holding the Dual Shock 2 than the hamburger-like Xbox controller, but this version's lack of pop-up evens things out. [Dec 2001, p.109]
-
Very deep for an Xtreme game. The level sizes, moves list, and challenges are extremely expansive.
-
The game is very pretty, and features some huge, fun levels, but it just wasn't enough to keep me playing.
-
The trick system is easy but limited, a flaw that should not have happened. All in all this game is a good buy.
-
The main control issue for the game is landing. Unlike the skateboarding games, which allow a little bit of error, there's no room for it in Dave Mirra.
-
Questionable physics and a sloppy trick system still hinder the game from reaching its true potential.
-
It's a solid, trick based BMX game. Good control, mixed with decent graphics, and a wide variety of truly huge and impressive courses should satisfy any player in search of an extreme sporting fix.
-
With its strong point on quantity, Dave Mirras Freestyle BMX 2 fails on the quality of rider control and in distinct graphics.
-
The perfect version of this game, and the one that will be remembered as the best of the bunch.
-
Extreme games are mostly about control, and in that respect Mirra 2 feels unpolished and messy at all the wrong times.
-
The game is far from perfect, suffering from a shaky graphics engine and a trick system that requires some tweaking, but the game manages to be pretty damn fun despite all that.
-
Next Generation MagazineAdd an incredibly robust level editor, great multiplayer options, and the ability to rip your own tunes to Xboxs hard drive, and you have a pretty damned cool game. [Jan 2002, p.32]
-
Official Xbox MagazineA good trick structure and decent playability. [Jan 2002]
-
Plagued by many flaws in the control system and in collision detection.
-
Despite having good structure, control, sound and graphics as well as a kickass level editor the game is just not as much fun as it could be because of the problems with control.
-
Visually the game is now crisp like snow as far as the eye can see.
-
With a brand new trick system in place that allows you to perform over 1500 different tricks, as well as several large and expansive levels that will test your trick abilities, Dave Mirra sits on the top of the pile, holding the extreme sports title.
