  1. This great engine and these great visuals are draped over gameplay that is just so-so.
  2. Beating everything in this game will be extremely tough. And this isn't a good kind of tough either. It's a throw-your-controller-the-computer-is-too-good kind of tough. Pity.
  3. If you’re after a game which is non stop madness and have a few friends who can regularly game with you then Cel Damage is a game you may considering purchasing, but unfortunately the single player game lets it down.
  4. As much as I like being beaten unmercifully by a duck in a fedora, it can become frustrating and a bit repetitive after a few rounds.

Confuses more than entertains. [Dec 2001]

You'll expect an easy, party affair and instead you'll get broken teeth from the ruthless AI and the tough structure of the game.
  7. The graphics are better suited to a PlayStation or hand-held system, and the audio track is not up to snuff, considering what can be accomplished with this system.
  8. This game is an excellent title for someone suffering from attention deficit disorder, but if you're looking for a game with lots of replay value, shop elsewhere.

This game feels like it could have been so much more if it had a better damage system, more single-player and multiplayer modes, and a new story mode to get familiar with the characters, and even take advantage of the TV show theme a bit more.
  10. Admittedly, this game is designed to be played in multiplayer and when done so is quite fun. For about ten minutes.

Even if just for eye-candy purposes, Cel Damage is plenty amusing. [Feb 2002, p.60]
  12. Sadly, the shallow gameplay ensures that the game gets really old, really quick.

Past the visuals rests a competent, if uninspired game that’s best savored with four players madly fighting for split-screen automotive supremacy. [Jan 2002, p.90]

Only in Cel Damage does a guy with an axe beat out a gatling gun. [Dec 2001, p.101]
  15. 50
it's just woefully undercooked in many parts.
  16. While the game improves somewhat as a multiplayer title, the ridiculously fast action coupled with the decreased viewpoint only means the fun is short-lived.

The more people you had the better it was. Single player was lacking to be sure and could have been improved. The characters and voices were edgy for the time and crude but comical. I would love to have seen this game receive some proper love. If you buy it on any platform other than the OG X-Box I advise that you research it first as the mechanics were changed. In the original you had weapons that were a 1 hit KO and that went perfectly with the quick play-style this game was known for. Friendships were made and broken cheap shots were hilarious and skill was a plus but not required to just have fun and mindlessly slaughter your opponents while listening to the one-liners.
