This game is the best RPG on Xbox so far, but I still have some doubts about it against Fable. ^_^

Fun game! I also enjoyed the sequel. Although the graphics were unimpressive, the gameplay and the three different playable characters were entertaining.

Great game! I played it on the PS2 first and its basically the same on the x-box, maybe a little crisper graphics and smoother game play. I love it, I give it a 9.5.

Played this one back in the day and I liked it a lot. Replayed it again about 15 years later and you know what? STILL LIKED IT!

What's great about this game is that it's hack and slash coop done really well. If you enjoy that then this is a must. What's lame about this game is that eventually you will unlock the best everything for your character and run out of replay value. That's

What's lame about this game is that eventually you will unlock the best everything for your character and run out of replay value. That's the only downside. That being said... It will take you a week of on and off playing to get everything unlocked unless you abuse cheats.

Still always a fun game to come back to every now and then and isn't the kind of game like destiny which will leave a bad taste in your mouth that never makes you want to come back.

Starting new characters in coop and throwing down on hardmode to start is a real challenge when you're new to the game. The struggle is really fun as you and your friend work together to over come the odds. A great game when it comes to team work. If the game was single player only then I would only give it about a 7. But the coop makes it a great game to enjoy with a buddy. A lot of games have coop but usually suck. This one doesn't. It's sequel is pretty sweet too. Better in some ways : )

Just the right amount of difficulty to keep you totally addicted. Wonderful gameplay and a reasonably interesting plot. This game was a blast! I can't wait for the sequel.

RPG's are always at the top of my list. Myself and an IT guy at work were so excited about the new engine they were developing for Neverwinter Nights on the PC that we watched as many pre-released downloads as we could in anticipation. Sadly though when the game came out the hack n slash repetition bored me, even though the graphics and environments were stellar. The same carries RPG's are always at the top of my list. Sadly though when the game came out the hack n slash repetition bored me, even though the graphics and environments were stellar. The same carries over into Baldurs Gate for the Xbox. Its too linear and there really is no exploration off the beaten track. A monster comes towards you press, press, press its dead! So what? Thats not gaming. I much preferred the original Baldurs Gate titles on the PC to this fare. Disappointed. Having said that I rushed out and hired the second one as soon as it came out in the hope of a better story, better puzzles, greater missions. Its just the same. Im hoping the port over some of the RPG's they have on the PS2 or do I have to wait for the 360? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Once upon a time, a lowly adventurer got mugged. So that adventurer decided to get wrapped up in the politics of some guild and kill a wrathful god ghost. That's pretty much the TLDR of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I cannot understate how much I **** love this game. This is probably the first time I've paid attention to the story and I didn't realize how short the game was. It has tons of replay value but it only took me and a friend around 7hrs and some change to beat. We had an absolute blast playing through this and I'm sure we'll be reloading our save in the future to try and max our characters out. Expand

It's a simple, great hack 'n slash RPG. I love it, I love the spells and abilities, and I love replaying it. So glad it's getting re-released for the Switch!

This game can be a lot of fun and very addicting, especially in co-op... but there's a HUGE design flaw in that you can basically just circle every enemy and whittle their health down. Kind of ruins any sense of strategy. Also, certain characters and abilities are clearly more useful than others. Still fun, though.

    A beautiful-looking Dungeons & Dragons-based hack-and-slash that can be played cooperatively with another player. [Feb 2003, p.95]

What really shines through here is the work of extremely talented artists, and the world of Dark Alliance is full of stately detail. [Winter 2002, p.107]
  3. Still, it's immense fun for two players, and the game is easy enough for anyone to pick up and get immersed in. If you like D&D games and are up for some monster killing action, this is your game.
