Mar 11, 2018I love these types of games. Always super fun with a friend. This is one of the better ones. It can get a little repetitive but that's any game. It's kind of boring some times unless you're seriously being challenged in the extreme mode.

RedEricJan 26, 2004A good step up from the first one. The only downside is the difficulty level, not as well done as the first, to easy.

Jul 9, 2015The best game of it's kind. Better than the first and More ability to use magical powers which helps reduce the repetitive "press A" hack-and-slash element. Combining the weapons with gems was a great idea.

Oct 7, 2021Infinitely replayable with all the characters, unlockable or otherwise. I have played this game way more than the first one, and love it more too! It's a classic hack 'n slash RPG that's inspired by D&D. Great fun to be had, especially in co-op.

Jan 13, 2022Recently revisited this. Still hits the spot. The D&D world is ripe for adventure. Top-down hack and slash action RPG. You get to visit plenty of interesting places and experience an interesting story. You can also play as the famous Drizzt! Highly recommend giving this game a try. Especially with a friend.

#71 Most Discussed Xbox Game of 2004

What was once a pleasing console compromise now seems overly restrictive post-"Knights of the Old Republic." Despite hints of moral choices and a dusting of side-quests, it soon boils down to a straight slog, mashing the 'A' button as you wander through prettily rendered - if largely linear - dungeons. [Feb 2004, p.100]

It offers more of the great hack and slash gameplay that - for some strange reason - no one has emulated properly since the first Dark Alliance. On the other hand, the magic of the original has definitely been diluted, where it really should have been enhanced.

games(TM)It's possible to sit through the game in one (admittedly long) sitting and this comes dangerously close to ruining the game. Fortunately, with five initial characters to play as and the typical Dark Alliance secrets, you'll still find yourself going back long after the main adventure is finished. [Feb 2004, p.100]
