A decent racer, but unresponsive controls prevent the Xbox version of QPR2 from outshining the pack.
-
Some of the games courses are a bit on the bland side. To me this is entirely unacceptable, as the developers had obviously proven that beautiful course design was possible with the power of the Xbox.
-
The racing aspect of the game is the most complete part of ATV: QPR2, but the most entertaining part, tricking, is a bit too difficult.
-
An enjoyable yet unoriginal game.
-
Other visual effects are absolutely horrid, such as driving through water. I expected a little bit more polish environmentally.
-
Play MagazineIf you own multiple consoles - although the game is solid across all three platforms - the Xbox game takes the prize, with eight competitors to the GC and PS2's six, along with a four-player mode compared to the other consoles' two. [Mar 2003, p.64]
-
Cheat Code CentralThe trick system is easy to use, maybe too easy. There's not a lot of depth... Very straightforward in every respect and that's why I think it's perfect for a rental.
-
Official Xbox MagazineThe game behind the skimpy clothes fails to impress... The play balance is simply no fun. [Mar 2003, p.78]
-
ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is to the PS2's "ATV Offroad Fury 2," as peas and carrots are to filet of Wild Virginia Bass with melted Savoy cabbage and Spanish caper emulsion.
-
The core mechanics and the main race modes are enjoyable enough that someone looking specifically for an ATV racing game will have some fun.
-
Xbox Nation MagazineNo matter how easy it is to do, kicking someone off his four-wheeler never stops being satisfying. [Apr/May 2003, p.93]
-
The novelty of kicking your friends from their bike in the heat of a race won't last forever, so once that aspect of the fun wears off so does any urge to hunker down to a night of ATV Quad Power Racing 2.
