Too bad the actual b-balling action has been done before and better. [July 2006, p.92]
  2. While there are some decent ideas in And1 Streetball, it feels like the game wasn't refined nearly enough as it should have been. Everything, from the core gameplay to the presentation, seems very roughly executed, so it's difficult to recommend this game to anyone.
  3. AND 1 Streetball mixes in a lot of what's good about street basketball but in the end the overall execution is plagued by glitches and weak controls that makes this one a real playa hater.
  4. While the obnoxious ads shouldn't be taken into account when critiquing a title, its poor execution of nearly every aspect of gameplay warrants plenty of scolding. Placing players in a position early for failure, then failing to reward them with engaging gameplay or satisfactory basketball action is simply unacceptable.
  5. Unless you are a huge AND 1 fan, please avoid this game, otherwise find some cheat codes and unlock the movies. They are the only thing worth public consumption.

Easily one of the weakest basketball games to have come out in a while, primarily thanks to its idiotic control scheme. Having more than 130 moves is a good idea, but if the game won't recognize what you're telling players to do because moves are tied to the analog sticks, it doesn't matter.
  7. From bugs to just simple bad gameplay, this is one that you just have to steer clear from.

It's a shame that the one good idea in this streetball title had to be overshadowed by bad execution and a mediocre presentation.

In a twisted and cruel coincidence, playing no defense is actually more effective than playing defense.
  10. And 1 Streetball ultimately suffers from a lack of effort in every category.
  11. The last glaring negative of this game is the commentary by Duke Tango, which is about as soothing and smooth as listening to Gilbert Gottfried read an epic novel over and over and over again. Ouch.
  12. Other than a ton of moves, this baller has zero street cred.

With core mechanics this flawed, no amount of cut-scene-laden story modes, create-a-move editors or unlockable extras will make up for what is a truly putrid videogame. [Aug 2006, p.127]

There are plenty of mode, player, music choices. I think this game's good. It's a bit of a change from NBA.

Above the rim and over the top! This game delivers on the most authentic street ball game ever. It took a while for it to come out, but Above the rim and over the top! This game delivers on the most authentic street ball game ever. It took a while for it to come out, but it's clean and polished, playing smooth and intuitively. The action is slammin and the game itself is rad. Full Review »
