    Trek To Yomi is graphically and audibly amazing. The story is rich and full with a lot of history. If you want to sink a few hours into a beat-em-up with a lot of depth and lots to do, you should definitely play this. I hope you choose the right path for you on your Trek to Yomi, but you definitely shouldn't pass up this amazing experience.

    Trek to Yomi is a game of two halves, where slightly repetitive combat does bring things down a notch. However, that other half — made up of the game's visuals, characters, storyline, atmosphere and overall polish — is so good that you'll want to carry on trekking right until the end. More involved combat could have elevated this one to being potentially one of our very favourite Game Pass games, but make no mistake, this is an adventure you'll want to head out on.

    A stylish side-scrolling samurai epic, Trek to Yomi combines cinematic influences and sharp combat to great effect, but descends into frustration towards the end. Nonetheless, this is a journey worth sticking with.

    Trek to Yomi is a game that really does evoke the style of Kurosawa films, with a good story and good characters. However, it is let down by a combat system that can feel clunky and unresponsive against enemies that are a little too straightforward to defeat. If you enjoy sidescrollers and samurai then it may be worth spending the few hours it takes to play through it.

    One of my favorite game on game pass.
    When you start the game choose "normal" difficulty. Instead will be kinda too easy.

    Trek to Yomi truly shines with its visual style and atmosphere. The black and white aesthetic make it a truly unique gaming experience that ITrek to Yomi truly shines with its visual style and atmosphere. The black and white aesthetic make it a truly unique gaming experience that I can't say I have had before, which is truly noteworthy in a gaming landscape full of copycats in one form or another. Unfortunately, the game is dragged down by its actual gameplay. While the gameplay is not bad by any means, it is incredibly simple, the enemies are repetitive, and the timing of the counter system feels off. These factors keep the game from being a truly excellent indie title, which is a shame given the fantastic foundation that exists here.

    All that said, I mostly enjoyed my time with Trek to Yomi, and I think the $20 price point is fair given what's on offer here (even better if you have Game Pass). In the end, I would give Trek to Yomi a 7.5/10.    … Expand

    Thoughts-
    How much you enjoy Trek to Yomi will depend largely on how much you care about its visuals and its presentation. If you’re going in purely for its design or gameplay, you’ll likely find the experience underwhelming for the most part. However, the game looks so unbelievable good from beginning to end that even if you don’t ordinarily care about that stuff in games, it’ll be hard not to be impressed by what’s on offer here. For that reason alone, I’d say this is a game well worth playing- because even if there are some caveats to that, there’s no denying that something this unique and gorgeous needs to be experienced.    … Expand

The design and the locales are inspiring and cool to look at but its buried under a black and white display choice that doesn't add much to the game overall. There is a sharp learning curve with the combat, luckily the respawn shrines are plentiful and the respawn time is very quick. About halfway through the game the combat flipped for me and I was able to easily dispatch waves of enemies. All the bosses except the last boss were cool but just about as easy as an average encounter. Puzzle elements felt tacked on and unnecessary in the later chapters. Beat the game in roughly 5-6 hours of playtime.… Expand

    What a garbage game! Typical xbox gamepass trash game. Boring gameplay, very repetitive, combat sucks! Don't waste your money and time!
