Good visuals and story but lacking heavily in actual gameplay.

Combat consists of no more than just hitting the slash button twice on an enemy. The variant of enemies is lacking.

Again this game should have been in development for another year. The combat needs a lot of refinement and better variance of enemies .

On gameplay level it could'nt be worse. Shame on you to release a game like this, and make the hard work of the rest of the game lost. Made me wanting to play the arcade=game "kung-fu master" of 1984. Retro-gaming tip :) I tried it to play online in edge on xbox but then again i can't find the controls on my keyboard... but then again edge browser on xbox is like browser of 1984

Nice visuals but it's all extremely boring & repetitive with simplistic gameplay/combat.

The pretty graphical style isn't enough to save the game from its clunky controls and boring combat.

The sword fighting is easy to understand but the controls fight you every step of the way with input delay, the stun combo is literally broken due to this fact and the slow direction switch mechanic doesn't exactly help. Often times you'll be hit from behind just because the controls are

Often times you'll be hit from behind just because the controls are too slow to respond which is unacceptable for an action game, you never feel in control of your character because of this and it ends up ruining the experience.

The game has a fantastic aesthetic but that's literally all it has going for it. The combat is some of the worst I've had the misfortune of ever playing. It's built around being a precision-timing combat and combo game but then ruins its premise with bad frame rates, frame stutters, and awful input delays. It takes a decent display with variable refresh rate to smooth the frame rate problems on a game that isn't exactly a graphical powerhouse; It is VERY poorly optimized.

The combat itself is extremely janky. Parrying is inconsistent, enemy AI can keep swinging away at you endlessly while you're limited to your stamina bar for *everything*, rolling doesn't always register, combos don't properly register, the switching directions requires a button press that leads to a laggy animation... the list goes on and on.

And I hope you're not expecting anything resembling a decent story. It's barely a serviceable one. Just when you think you're getting somewhere, BOOM the game is over. It's about 4-5 hours on medium (Bushido) difficulty, and that's with all the combat frustrations and inconsistencies.

A real shame because it had promise but it's ultimately just a mediocre game that performs poorly with a unique visual design.

You want a good samurai game, play ghost of tsushima. Yumy suffers from horrible frame rate, repetitive combat. Agat, Tsushima is better in every way

What a garbage game! Typical xbox gamepass trash game. Boring gameplay, very repetitive, combat sucks! Don't waste your money and time!

Considering that it is a video game and not a movie, we can summarize that is a video game with excellent visuals and sound. But without any playable section.

I've played the whole game on high difficulty repeating the same combo (UP+X, X, Y, RB)

Such a beautiful game wasted on such awful combat. The story seemed enjoying enough, but I couldn't be tricked enough to finish it with that combat. This is definitely a case of style over substance. Such a shame

Trek to Yomi is not an overly long adventure either. Outside of the standard combat there is some light exploration and puzzle solving with a few boss battles tossed in for good measure. The story is what kept me chugging through to the end. It is boilerplate but interesting. I wanted to know how things concluded so I pushed through the repetitive combat. Trek to Yomi is a game that on the surface seems way more interesting than it actually is. It feels like a good Game Pass title that occupied me for a weekend, I just wish it was a bit more in-depth when it comes to the combat itself.

The game is impressive and an apt tribute to its cinematic roots. Blood spurts satisfyingly as you strike enemies down, burning arrows soar overhead ominously and supernatural sections are sufficiently eerie yet intriguing.

Trek to Yomi is a game with its ups and downs, in which an interesting plot, together with an amazing artistic style, fall apart due to a terrible combat system, which leaves this title in a "limbo".
