Just finished this game and had an absolute blast! So many different options and endings has me starting the game again to try for a different ending. Some of the graphics need some tweaking on Xbox X but overall a stunning game. Loved it!

The Quarry is a good looking, unique story driven experience that I stumbled upon in the xbox store in the new releases list. I typically do not like video games that are heavy in story like most telltale games. For some reason, maybe the setting, the graphics, or the characters, I found a reason to buy this after the demo and was not disappointed. I typically do not like video games that are heavy in story like most telltale games. For some reason, maybe the setting, the graphics, or the characters, I found a reason to buy this after the demo and was not disappointed. Chapter 1 and 2 were a bit of a slog with a LOT of high school drama thrown in, but it's a summer camp and it sets the story decently. Getting past those first two hours was a bit rough for me but wow it was worth it. I am interested to see what the re-playability of the game is and may change my rating based on that (and multiplayer).

I did truly feel like my choices impacted the story and led to interesting outcomes, although this feeling may be a bit different as I replay a few times... Time will tell there. The graphics were done so well there were many times where you could barely discern the difference between a cut scene and gameplay if it weren't for changing camera angles. That being said, there were a number of times where facial expressions were cartoonish or just looked a bit off that became blatantly obvious when compared to the otherwise beautiful graphics. The last negative I have about this was the ease of some QTEs. I looked for a difficulty modifier but did not find one in the settings. A tweak like that would be a welcome one.

All in, this was a fun, engaging game that was only really hurt by the ease of some QTE mechanics, a couple of glitches and graphical issues, and a slow build in the beginning that did not appeal to me.

The Quarry is a gripping horror story where it's hard not to play one more chapter than you planned to. The tightly directed story has a nice pace due to alternation between tension and humor. The cast is strong and comes across very well because of the good voice acting. All together they are a believable group of teenagers in a dangerous situation.

Technically, it's not a perfect game.

Technically, it's not a perfect game. It is clear to see that not all the characters' movements are recorded in the mocap studio which breaks the immersion. This is also an issue for some really weird transitions between scenes. The choice of music and timing of shots are off sometimes.

Nevertheless, it is a cool experience due to the atmosphere, the characters, the well-designed danger (unnamed for spoilers) and the many options to influence the story.

    Pros:
    - Great and momorable cast
    - Voice acting
    - Atmosphere - Influence on story
    - Replayability

    Cons:
    - Character models
    - Character movements during gameplay
    - Transitions between scenes are off sometimes

I'm a big fan of interactive story-telling and FMV since Quantic Dream's Fahrenheit, especially in horror category. This game has multifaceted story, fantastic graphics and massive variability. Yes, its high priced, but this is the price for all its virtues.

Must have for all fans of the genre.

I’ve only just started but it seems fun. The graphics are really good although sometimes textures take a second to load in. Not terrible but I’m playing on Series X and it’s kind of a distraction when you notice it happening. Anyways aside from the good graphics but sometimes delays in loading, this is a fresh take on gaming - for me anyways. Anyways aside from the good graphics but sometimes delays in loading, this is a fresh take on gaming - for me anyways. I’m kind of tired of FPS and I like how this is more of a choose your own ending book except a movie that you interact with. The reviews are accurate: the acting is really good. You know how I’m some games you can tell that the audio was recorded by the voice actors separately? In this game it sounds like they were all sat in a room together reading off of a script at the same time. Like in other games it really stands out when one character pronounces a certain word one way and then immediately following that the other character uses a different pronunciation. It just breaks the fourth wall when that happens. Or even with a single character, it sounds like they just read lines off a paper, got recorded, and then the game makers stitched together different lines of dialogue at different junctures in the game. I guess I’m thinking of Cyberpunk 2077 in particular when I say this but I’ve noticed it in other games too. I’m playing Deathloop currently and I think it happens there too. It just stands out when the way the character says something doesn’t really fit the vibe of what’s happening in-game. All that is to say that this game *doesn’t* do that and that it feels really flow-y and natural. Looking forward to the thrills to come and replaying for alternative outcomes.

A great video game! Maybe not the first to have this approach, sure. The game is like 90+ out of 100 in terms of technical polishing. I wish the characters could move faster. Holding L1/LB makes them go a *little* faster.

Anyways I only wrote this review to bump up the average so that more people would play it.

First game ive enjoyed from company since until dawn. It nails the B movie horror vibe well and the characters move from annoying to charming as you play. I will say the gameplay is even more non exsistant than previous ones and you mostly lose characters to glitchy game mechanics that arent explained well.

Removed another point for no rewind feature which makes replaying a real chore

Overall, this game is my new favorite game by Supermassive Games. It’s just as long as Until Dawn and it has even more branching paths in its story. Definitely pick up this game if you’re fan of games like Until Dawn or Dark Pictures Anthology!

The Quarry is a fantastic adventure title as well as a cinematic marvel. It'll make you jump and squeel as you uncover the mysteries of Hacketts Quarry. With excellent QTEs and brilliant characters, you'll love every second of this creepy title.

The Quarry joins Until Dawn on the shelf of must-have terror/horror games. If you are a fan of the genre, this is the one you have to play at least once, since repeating it can become extremely boring, given that the story is told slowly and the interaction with the characters reveals little about the relationship between them. Even with some bugs, The Quarry offers a strong horror experience that can surprise even the strongest stomachs.
