This is a really disappointing game as a huge fan of Super Massive and Until Dawn.
For context I've played through the game twice (everyone lives & everyone dies)
    - This is far less scary than their previous work - A far less interesting story, with no twists or turns - A lack of meaningful choice (chapters 1-9 are almost identical regardless of what you do) - You are funneled down

    - The characters are very deep and well fleshed out
    - Beautiful game with a great art style and 80s horror inspired themes

Created an account specifically to comment on how terrible this lefty, degenerate, **** interactive movie (not a game) is. There are two possibilities here. One, the development team is full of alpha widows that portray the jocks that pumped and dumped them in real life in a way that satisifies their bitterness of not being able to keep them around or two, this studio is full of cucked Communists that are doing everything in their power to emasculate and villanise white men like every single other person in the media is doing too. Terrible story, terrible plot, terrible monsters that look like they haven't even loaded into the game properly, creepy facial animations, social commentary, pandering to people that don't play these games, abysmal ending. The only reason I'm even making reference to anything beyond the propaganda piece that this trash is is so that the moderate wimps that think calling out said propaganda is nonsensical and bitter can actually have a position to defend that doesn't involve their offended emotions.

Another example of why video games in 2022 are a dead medium and need to be boycotted completely. I haven't even mentioned the terrible business practices that came from these amateur developers joining up with 2K so they really are the most scummy, degenerate, talentless game makers that exist in the industry today, and that's saying something when Rockstar and EA exist.

Not worth £6, let alone £60. These products need all of the shaming and boycotting that they deserve. And go watch Synthetic Man on YouTube if you want actual reviews and critiques of games that aren't afraid to reveal the truth.

First of all , if you are obsessive with the achievements like I am , do not touch this game. This is the worst ever in game achievement system I've seen in my life. To get all achievements , you have to play like 50 hours and maybe 5-6 playthroughs. It is crazy that they push me to play same sh.t again and again and again ...... It doesn't save your collectibles , if you forget one collectible at chapter 2 and at chapter 10 you have to play complete game from the chapter 2 again because when you select chapter 2 and start all collectibles from this point is reset. What the hell is this ??? I paid like 70 euro for this bullsh.t ... Wish never touched this. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Been a fan of Supermassive since Until Dawn, but it does feel like each iteration after Until Dawn has been a bit of a decrease in quality. Gameplay wise, you know what you're getting with this interactive movie kind of video games. So since gameplay is not all that different from everything that has come before, we're left with the story and the characters, which are the meat-and-potatoes for this genre, and its a mix bag.

Story wise, the pacing is great for the first half, but then there's a second and a third chapter that just fall off a cliff. It really did feel like the writers were running out of steam as the game progresses. There are characters arcs introduced that are never carried forward or concluded, mostly forgotten. There's one character who is introduced in prologue and basically becomes the main character when we pick up her story midway through, and at that point, the game bascially forgets the other camp counselors and really just focuses on her.

In terms of pacing, the first act, great, second and then third act, meh. Especially the ending, the ending is very anti-climatic. The grand finale climax is not really climax, it just happens and the game ends bascially saying "Such and such happened to so and so." This is deeply disatisying because you can't help but compare to 'Until Dawn,' and there, the finale climax we had all the characters introduced (and who survived), all in the same room, with a high stakes, very scary situation, and you felt tense. Here, we have a kind-ish quick time event and then end, with just three out of all the characters in a not-at-all tense scene, and I guess the writers are trying to make you sad. I don't know and the game doesn't really make it clear. Which is another problem.

In most of Supermassive games, yeah, we don't get all of the story, every single piece, but basic knowledge of what the rules of the world are, are given. Here, there is a ghost and it is never, ever properly dealt with, its just there and everyone accepts that this ghost is there and exists (even though this ghost mostly does nothing but whispers peoples' names). We have the main monsters, but then we have this element that is never properly introduced or dealt with, and it doesn't even affect the overall plot come to think of it.

Overall, the impression I get is that this is a game with a lot of ideas in it, but no one did a good job of editing those ideas. At the same time, the writers and game designers should've taken a vacation and recharged as it was obvious they were burned out by the end. So all in all, a great rough draft, but not a well-oiled machine humming on all cylinders.

Overall, this game is my new favorite game by Supermassive Games. It’s just as long as Until Dawn and it has even more branching paths in its story. Definitely pick up this game if you’re fan of games like Until Dawn or Dark Pictures Anthology!

The Quarry is a fantastic adventure title as well as a cinematic marvel. It'll make you jump and squeel as you uncover the mysteries of Hacketts Quarry. With excellent QTEs and brilliant characters, you'll love every second of this creepy title.

The Quarry joins Until Dawn on the shelf of must-have terror/horror games. If you are a fan of the genre, this is the one you have to play at least once, since repeating it can become extremely boring, given that the story is told slowly and the interaction with the characters reveals little about the relationship between them. Even with some bugs, The Quarry offers a strong horror experience that can surprise even the strongest stomachs.
