    A great story with an unexpected, thrilling ending. In terms of optimization the game has some issues, but it makes up for it with its character development and narrative. The dual result mechanics give way to superb puzzles and interesting sequences. The game steers away from cheap Jumpscares and prefers to give way to great atmosphere and tension. The soundtrack is simply excellent, moreA great story with an unexpected, thrilling ending.     El juego es muy bueno, tanto en su temática, como en implementar algo nuevo, una historia atrapante, que si bien no esta a la altura de los silent hill, es muy buena, sus mecánicas de juego son algo a lo clásico, lo cual me gustó mucho. Muy buen juego, recomendado 10/10

    Xbox nos sorprende con una joya dentro de su catálogo, adentrándose en el suspenso, drama y terror con su nuevo juego, disfrute mucho adentrándome en el universo del juego, es un juego que vale la pena jugar

Para no confundirse no es un survival horror de allí que las críticas de que no es como silent hill, resident evil u otros no aplica. El genero es más semejante al de la aventura gráfica y en ese apartado cumple y tiene unas mecánicas jugables interesantes, una historia notable.     This game, this studio has shown much promise. They accomplished such a concept on a fairly limited budget. With a AAA budget, I can see this team make some of the best experiences out there. Hopefully one day they do and I can't wait for what they have in store next!

    For what is worth this game is very good. Story is amazing and this game has next gen graphics - forest is mind blowing and looks better than forest IRL. Music 10/10. And I like that this game is short because I don't like 30 hours games with 20 hours of cut scenes.

    The Medium truly shows the power of this new generation of consoles. Love the story and the gameplay. Ray Tracing on the Xbox Series X is impressive. It's a must play game indeed.

    Un juego increíble aunque no para todo el mundo. Este tipo de novelas graficas, si ese es el genero, nunca a sido de mis preferencias pero este juego me encanta tanto ambientación como historia. La jugabilidad es impecable si se usa un mando (joystick).

    This was not planned. It just happens that the game hooked me in so much. The story is incredible. I loved the old-school camera style. The graphics are amazing . The music is perfect.     Es un juego que no desepciona la historia es profunda y te sientes atrapado de inicio a fin, la forma con la que juega con la narrativa es genial y la historia es muy interesante por lo que te sientes con la necesidad de terminarla, y te hace rejugarla sin importar cuantas veces la has terminado.

I was waiting for this game.     I was waiting for this game. In these years of endless remakes, remasters and sequels I above all treasure fresh, new, weird and brave projects.
    But after release of the Medium I decided to check metacritic before throwing ma money in the screen, because, well, I have responsibilities and try to avoid impulsive purchases.
    People was writing that game was boring and meh overall. I started having second thoughts and didn't bought it. Then I got game pass as a women's day present and I got opportunity to check the game for free basically.
    And now I want to also buy it, so it will stay in my collection.
    It's beautiful, and perfect for people that enjoy similar stuff (well duh that's why genres exist)
    I'm giving this game 10, because it doesn't deserve the ~70% score it has now, and I want to push the rating a bit. Now, objectively it's probably 9, but still!)

    [STORY] is interesting and all tangled in a good way. I was rereading in-game notes of different characters to understand the chronology and events, and it was part of the fun.
    [DESIGN] I'm sorry, but I can't stand whining about graphics. I believe that design is far more important. And artists behind this piece did really good job!
    [GAMEPLAY] Split screen for different worlds? Fresh and new. Puzzles? It's like Syberia, but on easy setting. I have found it very comforting, because I was invested in the story and atmosphere. For me hard annoying puzzles tend to ruin all the fun, when I have a story to worry about. If you wanna play hard puzzles, please play Baba is You for example.
    [IS IT SCARY] This CANNOT be universal.
    I personally felt uneasy about the main monster, it has just hit the spot. But also I've heard about people getting pissed off because of the uhh.. scary disturbing events in story? I'm sorry again, but this is a horror! If you are relatively easy triggered, pretty please, just don't play/watch/read horrors, okay? And for the record, there's nothing, not a single line or word in dialogues or notes, that would say anything controversial OR like even pronouncing "bad" words/names of universally bad things. Dialogues made with attention to this, and leave a very precise feeling that yeah of course, BAD things are BAD. And once again, it's a horror, you can't be scared without some nerve-tickling hints and meanings.

    [TLDR]
    - Should you try it?
    Do you like "walking simulators" story driven games, like Dear Esther, Everybody Gone to the Rapture, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, What Remains of Edith Finch? Then YES, definitely.
    - Don't like those? Please just don't play the Medium then, you will end up giving it low rating, just because it's not your genre.
    - Unfamiliar with those games I mentioned?
    Well ask yourself if you are up to watching a movie (sometimes intense, again, it's a horror) and making choices along the way.

    This is a really great game and people who say otherwise probably didn't get far into the game itself. Yeah there were some artifacting on certain parts of the game when I played it pre patched but other than that I think it was a masterpiece storywise. It's one of those games that messes with your mind.

    I write this as someone who would call have called themselves a Silent Hill if the series was just the original 4 and a huge horror fan. In recent years the western developed Silent Hill's have all be terrible, this could be the best western developed "Silent Hill". The Medium is a really solid game that was just too small in scope. The Medium is a mix of classic original Silent Hill and modern Outlast kind of horror. There's no way to fight back against the monsters...but that's because there's only really one and he shows up , occasionally and usually for a quick chase scene. While the monster is genuinely creepy and Troy Baker's performance is incredibly creepy he is underused.

    Don't let this dissuade you though The Medium builds an excellent atmosphere with gorgeous visuals and environment design however it is just too small in scope and linear. What the game takes from Silent Hill; the dual realities, the atmosphere, the puzzling, it does really well but it doesn't take enough. The game needed to be bigger, imagine rather than just exploring the one hotel(a very small part of it) and the few surrounding areas (again very linear areas). If you could explore the entire complex freely like a smaller Silent Hill town the game would have been so much better, the linearity of the game is a major negative of the game as there's only ever one path to follow apart from one or two sections where you have a choice to go left or right.

    Without going into it the story is really interesting and well told and kept me hooked right until the end. The framing alone makes me want to see this expanded in a sequel if it's at all possible that is bigger in all ways.

    Another way that the game could have been improved is if there were more puzzles, the only two puzzles that take more than a second to work out are right at the end and while they're really cool and interesting they're not that hard. This is a major miss from the game.

    A final improvement I would make is really go into the dual world gameplay, imagine if when you arrive at the hotel instead of seeing sadness as this broken destroyed child, you see them as a normal child (think Laura in Silent Hill 2) helping you through the game for a while and then when you phase into the other world you see her for what she really is.

    I can understand why they didn't have smaller enemies in the game, the tight linear environments wouldn't have made combat very satisfying and would have frustrated more than anything. Simply adding more enemies into the game, giving players a way to fight back against them, treating The Maw as a more "Pyramid Head" figure and expanding the areas would have worked wonders for the game.

    However for what the game is it is a fantastic atmospheric experience and the best Silent Hill game since Silent Hill 3. Possibly one of the best horror experiences in a long time, I don't think the Outlast series is a very good horror experience and The Medium doesn't need a first person camera restricting views to be creepy. Minus a few issues and technical flaws the game is a really good if small experience.    … Expand

    Hearkens back to the 3rd person horror of the late 90s-early 2000s (like Silent Hill 1/2/3/4) but The Medium also manages to find it's own niche and is successful in doing so.

    The Medium was a blessing in disguise. The story and score of this game is amazing. I loved every minute of it and fell in love with the main character Marianne. The entire playthrough I just kept wanting more of this captivating story. Thanks Bloober Team.

    I think this game ray tracing is very good. And the game details are beautiful. The story is great. It was the best graphic in Xbox games.

    I think I'm half way through the game and all I can say is that wow, it's been a long time since I've been so involved in a story, I'm really glad there is a game like this, the only bad thing is its optimization, I play it on Xbox Series S, other than that, excellent.

The camera angles are a work of art. It takes control away from the games and makes you vulnerable at times.     Juego de notable alto, para mi gusto, gran sonido que te envuelve, una jugabilidad clasica, y una muy buena historia, buenos graficos, quizas se ha hechado en falta el doblaje al castellano, pero en general la verdad es que me ha sorprendido, no me esperaba un juego tan bueno.

    A very good game, history feels like it has much more to be developed, but it's excellent and it has an essence to old psychological terror games. You have to improve the gameplay, but it serves very well in what you want to play as a game. Very recommendable.

    Loved the story of this game, maybe not a game for hardcore horror people because dispate having some heavy stress scenes they are not long and thats why for me it was perfect because if its to much i get to anxious. Im not a horror game person bit i am a big story telling person thats why i love this game also love puzzle solving.

    Por ser um jogo de orçamento AA, surpreendeu positivamente sendo o melhor game da desenvolvedora. A inovação das duas realidades é muito boa. Optar pelo sistema de câmera semi fixa tbm remete à uma nostalgia dos tempos dourados onde games como silent Hill, clock tower, City of lost childrens e resident evil code verônica eram supremos no estilo    Parabéns ao time de desenvolvimento do game.

    Cenários que carregam na velocidade da luz ao entrar num espelho, jogar com os dois mundos ao mesmo tempo, ou controlando apenas o espiritual.
    É tudo tão mágico, inovador e incrível.
    Mostra o quanto essa nova geração tem potencial, em ambos consoles.
    A gameplay n é perfeita, tropeçando em um level design nada intuitivo as vezes e até cenários bem monótonos, mas é a minoria, a maior parte do jogo funciona muito bem.
    A narrativa se perde e tropeça em si mesma diversas vezes, querendo complicar dms onde não deveria, MAS, ela é td menos clichê.
    A história contata aqui é intrigante, misteriosa e termina com um final INACREDITÁVEL de foda que só quem jogou/assistiu vai saber pq ele é tão bom.
    Performance:
    Uma merda, n sei se por engine ou por falta de experiência do estúdio com o console.
    Gráficos:
    O jogo é bem bonito, mas nada demais.
    Destaque pro mundo dos espíritos em cutscenes que é um show a parte e pras transições dos espelhos.
    Sobre a duração?
    Perfeita.
    É um jogo de suspense e puzzle que se fosse maior do que as 8-10 hrs, ficaria maçante e entediante.
    Ele custa 45 dólares, além de estar no Gamepass, e eu definitivamente gostei mais dele do que do Miles Morales que é mais curto e custa 50 dólares.
    Ahhhh e não posso esquecer de falar sobre um dos melhores pontos do jogo:
    Akira Yamaoka.
    O lendário compositor de Silent Hill é o responsável pela trilha sonora ao lado de Arkadiusz Reikowski e que trilha sonora.
    Com ctz ao fim de 2021 ela estará entre minhas preferidas do ano.

    The game graphics are the first thing you’ll notice it’s beautiful. It runs smooth and I didn’t pay a dime to play it thanks to gamepass. What more could a gamer ask for, it’s a solid game and if you like this type of genre then that’s all you need to pick this up and play. It’s worth a try If you have gamepass.

    Some parts of the gameplay somehow reminded me of Silent Hill, others - Resident Evil. A static camera adds its charm to the game, but sometimes you just want to twist this camera a little. It also filtered out many players who were not familiar with the early parts of Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

    In its horror part, it may seem to many that the game pumped up. There are no traditional jumpscares here (almost), and most of the game you are not in danger. However, you need to understand that this is a psychological horror, and the game copes with this perfectly. As you progress through, more and more frightening details become clear, and these details frighten not with some kind of mysticism, but with the fact that all this is real emotions and behavior of people, and many of these things exist in the real world.

    The artstyle, soundtrack and sound design in this game are great, and perfectly underline the atmosphere of what is happening in the game.

    All in all, it's a very, very decent game that definitely deserves to be given a chance.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Buen juego, entretenido, como buena ambientacion, banda sonora de lujo, aunque si se nota alguno que otro punto flojo, la jugabilidad con el personaje es un poco acartonada, tube algunos fallos de texturas minimas en el escenario del Bosque.
    Su historia es solida y bien desarrollada, nquien tiene la idea que jugara un silent hill esta en un error, tiene una atmosfera muy paresida, pero no es un survival horror.

    Surprised at how engaging this game is! The visuals are gorgeous and the soundtrack is haunting and the creepiness and the scares are real. This is THE GAME to fill the Silent Hill void. Would love to see DLC expansions with new characters and new locations with new powers. Bravo XBOX and Bloober Team!

    It took me 7 1/2 hours for medium and achieved 840 gamerscore. An entertaining horror story game that was told in a terrific way and that just lacked the threat of its horror element.

    story

    It was exciting, thrilling and well staged. The cut scenes, echoes, collectibles tell the intense ride of the medium Marianne. At no point did I feel any length in the game, on the contrary, you were actually always curious to see how it would go on. The story of Marianne and the uncovering of the past was a success from start to finish.

    While playing, you are constantly encouraged to make assumptions and interpret in order to recognize the picture that is emerging.
    Spoiler:
    The parentheses at the end are also very well interwoven for me. It all starts with a dead girl and that's how it ends? It remains to be seen whether Marianne killed herself or Lilly. I guess the former.

    Difficult topics are also addressed, where with some one can only guess what happened.

    Gameplay

    If you know the games from BlooperTeam, you know that it is probably a walking simulator. But the great thing about it all is the dual gameplay. That not only has to serve as a pure puzzle-solving aspect, but also shows a great staged world and is part of the protagonist. The creativity of the scenery really amazed me.
    Spoiler: memory

    The second memory from Thomas (Henry) was really cool, with the files etc., staged
    You could also interact differently in both worlds and the simultaneous rendering of the worlds was amazing.

    In terms of horror, the game could have gone better, it was way too easy to avoid the monster. You didn't even have to make an effort. The puzzles weren't really difficult either, but I don't think that's bad.

    Graphics / performance

    The Medium looks terrific in places, which is mainly due to the already mentioned very creative expression in its scenery. The two rendered worlds have very beautiful settings and yes, the demon world has a strange aesthetic in it too. Sometimes the game is staged in a pretty disgusting way (cutting skin).

    Much, Much praise for the game. But now I have to leave something out on the technology. I had to stop the game on my PC (this is not a bad PC) because it did not run smoothly at all. I've tried everything, but no chance to get the game to work properly. Unfortunately, I don't know why.

    Even on the Series X there were occasional FPS stutters, but it remained largely stable here. Despite all that, you always had such an uneven feeling when it came to the technology and that pulled me a bit out of the very dense atmosphere. I now have to look again in retrospect to see if there are better settings or something similar, but the problems were also reported in large numbers on Reddit and Co.

    Conclusion

    For me a terrific "horror" story, for me other story elements were much more intense than the horror aspect, which looks beautiful and is pleasantly entertaining. Unfortunately the technology weakens, therefore 9/10 skin flaps.    … Expand

    Buen juego, me gusto la historia desde el principio, sin embargo creo que el final me dejo un poco insatisfecho. En cuanto al apartado tecnico me parece que necesita optimizarse un poco mas, pero no esta nada mal, no tiene casi ningun bug, pero si uno que otro tiron.

    The atmosphere in this game is extremely immersive and this is not a extremely scary games it's one of those type of games where u appreciate the enviroment and levels art style with a thriller narrative The other world part of the game looks gorgeous and this runs grogeous on series x I would recommend it if you're looking for a chill layback experience that will keep you hooked with its story

    Despite clunky animations, repetitive gameplay and some technical issues with the Xbox Series X version, I completed The Medium twice. Its dual-reality design, art direction and brilliant soundtrack often made me stop to take in a view or relish the music. Its mature story and atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill helped a lot too.     The exclusive Microsoft - The Medium is yet another significant milestone in the catalogue of psychological horror games from Bloober Team, which is increasingly becoming one of the best studios in this area. Without hiding where it comes from, it's an experience horror fans won't want to miss, no matter how short. The duality approach is interesting and has enormous potential.
