    Not sure why everybody is this hyped at this point, game is a technical disaster. There's a good game in there somewhere burried beneath an atrocious chugging frame-rate and laggy controls. Easy is way too easy, normal is "too hard" due to the terrible performance issues. Wait for a patch or 2. Tons of bugs too, 1 freeze and 2 weird glitches covering the whole screen the whole time.     Going lower than 7 isn't really fair because it's a really, really good Metroidvania game, but bugs and glitches are (as well as overall poor technical performance) are way too common and most times really detrimental to the experience.
    My suggestion is to wait for some performance patches. With time this could easily become a 9 game, but for now there's no way to rate it higher.

    Controls are nowhere near as tight as they need to be to be defined within the metroidvania genre. After 10hrs i ran into a multitude of bugs that halted gameplay and required restarting. On PC performance maintains and isnt awful. However there is quite a bit of stuttering that occurs when transitioning from one room to another. The combat is my least favorite part. It feels as though imControls are nowhere near as tight as they need to be to be defined within the metroidvania genre.     Impressive, beautiful, inspired, shame about the woody controls but it is an excellent work that I recommend. I repeat, too bad for the controls a little woody and for the optimization that is not the best, otherwise it would be from 10.

    Gráfico e ambientação lindos, jogo é desafiador, tem elementos até de souls. Viciante esse metroidvania e obrigatório pra quem curte o estilo. A pegada Lovecraft é a cereja do bolo.

    Absolutely horrible framerate. It baffles me that a studio would launch a game with such poor performance. Drop the resolution/settings and make it SMOOTH at least.

    Sadly, is a no
    The game is incredible unoptimized, controls are woody at least.
    And when you play it you really notice that everything should have been more fluid and "action".
    Visually beautiful, but very confusing also in the story.
    Really looks like a "beta" of something cool instead of an official release.
    Totally unpolished

    It's a complete disappointment. I didn't loose my temper after the game had unexpectedly shut down without saving my progress FOR 1 HOUR. But it was too much for me when it happened again. The combat system is primitive and lagged. You cannot either jump over your foes or dodge normally. If you stuck in between, to survive is almost impossible. The quests become boring once you understandIt's a complete disappointment. I didn't loose my temper after the game had unexpectedly shut down without saving my progress FOR 1 HOUR. But it was too much for me when it happened again. The combat system is primitive and lagged. You cannot either jump over your foes or dodge normally. If you stuck in between, to survive is almost impossible. The quests become boring once you understand the principle. The game's intro is too quick and not quite informative to understand the antagonist background, goals and motivation.

    The only one thing that deserves positive feedback is the overall visual style and colors. Maybe future patches will fix the majority of issues, but at the moment I recommend avoid this pale imitation of the metroidvania.    … Expand

    Disjointed and frustrating combat mechanics.

    Thoughts-
    The story at the center of Benedict Fox is engaging and steeped in mystery. Each new discovery leads you down a twisted trail involving an occult organization and the livelihoods of the individuals’ deaths you now investigate. It’s easy to soak up the lore behind each new relic you find as everything within the world of Benedict Fox is saturated in history and the connectivity it all has to other aspects of the narrative.     The game is really good.. if not an Ori copy isn't always about the platforming although it has that in Spades the combat is fun... the puzzles and story and RPG elements really carry this game.. I recommend playing it..

    It’s pretty good but I wasn’t a fan of some of the combat mechanics although this was a bit annoying it wasn’t so bad as to take away from the experience

    Xboxking, Your review is pathetic. You obviously haven't played, because this game is awesome! Very unique and extremely fun investigating all throughout the game. Rating this game a 0 because the game is not on your preferred platform... How many games are on PlayStation that aren't on Xbox.. Should they all get 0's for the same reason?
    Give this game a try, it is excellent.

    I made an entire MC account just to get this posted. The game itself is amazing however it has well-known GAME-BREAKING BUGS that occur hours into the game that require a total restart.

    If you can manage to avoid these bugs (except you can't see them coming) then you have a solid 8/10 game, maybe even a 9/10 game. However, these bugs (mine happened 6 hours in) completely ruin the    I made an entire MC account just to get this posted.     Excellent jeu 2D mélangeant Metroid vania et jeu d'énigme à la Myst. Graphiquement le jeu est ultra léché avec des environnements originaux mêlant limbes loftcraftiens, manoirs mélancoliques, ou décors mécaniques ou encore viscérales. Visuellement il n'a rien à envier à des titres comme Hollow Knight ou Ori.
    Les énigmes sont prenantes et demandent vraiment de la    Fini sur Series X.

    Par contre, il faut vraiment passer le cap de la 1ère heure de jeu (donc passer le 1er boss qui arrive très vite dans l'aventure) pour comprendre tout le potentiel du jeu. Je pense que beaucoup ont été frustré dès le début et c'est dommage. C'est comme pour les Souls like, faut passer le cap du début et on s'étonne ensuite de la richesse du jeu.

    Son seul défaut: la gestion des sauts pas optimales surtout les doubles sauts dont il faut comprendre la mécanique.

    7 hours in the game, and i can confirm the game is amazing.
    the beginning (the first 20mins) was not that much fun and after that it game changing.

    Beautiful graphics and design, great atmosphere, awesome story, fighting is ok - gets better when upgraded. One of the best voiceovers i heard. I very much recommend.

I'd love to continue playing, but I ended up taking a break until they fix a couple of things. The amount of jank is crazy, the combat doesn't flow at all, the game freezes in certain areas, the settings menu requires an unnecessary extra step to acess it, etc. I'd love thatLet's be real, the game is beautiful, has a very good art direction and lot of talent and creativity put into it. I'd love to continue playing, but I ended up taking a break until they fix a couple of things.     este juego es una maravilla de metroid vania, lo he jugado en ambas versiones y me encanta su estilo visual, mecánicas, la historia es seria y oscura y me echo en falta un mejora en la dificultad. Para mi es un 8/10 pero pongo un 10 porque le puñetero Review Bombing de usuarios como Thetype que si veis su historial pues bueno se nota a que empresa millonaria le lame los pies, dejad deeste juego es una maravilla de metroid vania, lo he jugado en ambas versiones y me encanta su estilo visual, mecánicas, la historia es seria y oscura y me echo en falta un mejora en la dificultad.     The game Is amazing, visualy stunning and great to play and lose some well spend hours of gameplay. I had some issues with the game not saving and then crashing then loosing my save, but getting past the occasional hiccup in performance the game is a must play.

REALLY BAD optimization on Xbox SS It is impossible play in quality mode beachside the game crashes 2.crooked combat system; I started game on hard mode, played it like this for entire game, except of final    So, I finally started it and finished in just 8 hours

    I am sure that this game is really beautiful, it has an interesting story and good gameplay

    I found only two minuses for me:

REALLY BAD optimization on Xbox SS It is impossible play in quality mode beachside the game crashes 2.crooked combat system; I started game on hard mode, played it like this for entire game, except of final boss and I was really angry every **** time when I tried to parry, it was really impossible But these minuses don’t really reduce my review because I enjoyed this game very much

    Absolutely enthralling psychedelic psychologic thriller. Gorgeous sets and certain cinematics that are innovative. Benedict fox will be a study piece in the field of metroidvaniology. Bravissimo

    The game as a whole is not bad, but the riddles are sometimes strange, it is not clear what to do and the presentation of the plot is very strange.

    Nice graphics do a lot, but unfortunately they don't save everything, especially when you need to save gameplay in such a major way as is the case here. Precision and smooth controls are absolutely key in this type of game, and that's where the developers screwed up. [Issue#328]

    As an AA title, The Last Case of Benedict Fox offers a lot of value, and its inclusion in Microsoft Game Pass makes it available to a wider range of audience. It may not revolutionize the Metroidvania genre, but creates a lot of potential for future games to take advantage of.

    The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a morbid and surreal Metroidvania experience. With tough puzzles and cruel combat, this will test the best players. Moreover, the cruel bosses will push you to your limits. What's more, it is free to play on Game Pass.
