Great addition to the Bethesda family. Enjoying it on both pc and xbox. A couple crashes so far but over so many hours it's not bad.

Imagine… a game about the vastness of space, and exploring all the intricacies of what life would be like on other planets. Some peaceful, some having you fight for your life. Utilizing cutting edge technology to zip across space and gaze upon the stars, not safely from earth through a telescope, but through the glass of your space cruiser.

Utilizing cutting edge technology to zip across space and gaze upon the stars, not safely from earth through a telescope, but through the glass of your space cruiser.

I wish I could say that was the case with this game. Instead, all exploration aspects are abruptly interrupted by loading screen after loading screen, and again after loading screen. You can’t even enter your own ship while docked without a loading screen. There’s no wonder to be had exploring the final frontier here, but rather fast traveling to a planet to explore an empty landscape that has nothing to offer.

There is combat, if you like stiff, slow, uninspiring gunplay with lackluster selection of arsenal. Theres collecting loot, like that of former titles made by Bethesda, but the combat is boring, both in space and on the ground.

The story is slow, haphazard, and uneventful. For a game with so much hype behind it, you would expect to feel drawn to play it, I personally was not. TLDR: This was not a space adventure title with combat sewn in, it was Skyrim in space with less to do and less scenery. Thank the good Lord that I didn’t pay for it and it was on Gamepass…

but hey, at least they didn’t make a 10-year saga build up only to re-use assets to create a “new” world, but that’s a story for another day…

Needs 10 more years of development with the most recent game engine. In its current state, Starfield has barely no optimizations and needs a 2030 computer setup to run properly. Bethesda also needs to kick her CEO out. At least I got my refund.

I never felt such a disconnect with what people like and my thoughts on this game.
This game is plain trash. Too many loading scenes, NO exploration, every character is essential. Can't even pickpocket important NPCs.
The gameplay loop is so boring I started to question my entire existence. I expected people would dislike this game just as much as me and went to gaming forums and reddit

I expected people would dislike this game just as much as me and went to gaming forums and reddit expecting people to hate it. But they love it. They slurp that **** up.
Maybe it's a marketing campaign and Bethesda is paying poor people in some thrid world country to say good things about it, or maybe they use chatGPT. But schizoposting aside, I dont get how the sentiment on metacritic is so different to reddit.

Dont even care about the they/them controversy or whatever rightoids and leftoids are fighting over.
I guess I'm getting old of millenials and zoomers love this kind of game now.

6 hours in and it feels like I'm still in the tutorial. It seems like it has somewhat good foundations but the rest feels really half-assed. You have loading screens constantly interrupting you. You don't need to fast travel to the other side of the system your in to get there. You can fly to a planet, land, explore, get back in your ship and go to another planet with zero loading screens. In Starfield, your also meant to explore but you can just fast travel everywhere and entering and leaving the planet requires a loading screen and just uses a cutscene. Being able to customize your ship was one of the selling points for me but I've found no reason to engage with it because I can just fast travel everywhere and dont need to actually use the ship 95% of the time. It feels like a game that was meant to be mission based but they made it open world because that's more appealing to alot of people. Expand

Bethesda never develop their graphics, techniques, nor their storytelling. Game is fetch quests, lacklustre ones at that. Most worlds have copy and paste elements, lacking warmth or personality. World's often empty, or just autocreated by formula. Story is average, it's warm spoonfed faeces for us nostalgia guys.

MINUS: Outdated animations. Outdated engine. Too much Loading screen. Grinding. Typical Bethesda bugs. Boring exploring. Strange flight controls. PLUS: Solid optimization on X. Interesting characters. SHORT: Not in top 5 space games, even StarCitizen pre- alpha is 5x better and more interesting and fun. DISSAPOINTING

Les rencontres spatial sont toute les même, ah bout de 4h de jeux j'ai commencer à sentir cette redondance dans les rencontres ... Aucun véhicule terrestres alors que les distances sont très longue à parcourir... Ce jeu passerait un peu mieux

I really enjoy the combat and exploration. For me personally I am happy that the space combat isn’t too in depth and can be avoided if wanted.

Love the main story and really enjoying the side quests I have done so far.

Can’t wait for the little quality of life changes that will come and DLC.

I would highly recommend getting game pass or buying this game. Wonderful.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
