  1. I can’t help but love this game. Star Wars Outlaws looks, sounds, and feels like what a Star Wars game should be, without ever invoking the feeling of “Star Wars”, the multi-billion-dollar Disney-owned franchise. It forges its own path through the galaxy, determined never to step in somebody else’s footsteps, and it does so with magnificent confidence. It’s that confidence that pulls it all together, taking the best parts of Star Wars, combining them with the best parts of Ubisoft, and casting everything else aside.

More than just being a great open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws is possibly one of the best Star Wars games ever made. It’s a clear labour of love for everyone involved at Massive, and it’s obvious from the team shows a clear understanding of not only what makes for a great open-world adventure, but what makes the Star Wars universe so compelling and enduring, not the blasters and lightsabres, but loveable characters and heart.

Star Wars Outlaws fleshes out the definitive scoundrel experience. Combat and stealth might be limited, but on the whole is a very enjoyable game.

One of the most iconic sagas in pop culture returns with an open world game that immerses us in the world of criminal syndicates. With memorable sequences and an immersive story, Star Wars Outlaws is an experience not to be missed, whether you are a fan of the saga or not.

Moving between planets and wandering Outlaws’ dense cities is where the adventure shines, but shooting your way through your current gig so you can make it to the next is also compelling, if sometimes a little simple.

Star Wars Outlaws is the experience every Star Wars fan should have, a love letter to the saga, excelling in offering a rich and varied adventure, woven perfectly within a larger story away from the great conflicts between Sith and Jedi, Empire and Rebellion. It isn't a perfect work, with bugs and glitches that compromise even the AI of enemies, but never before has this Galaxy come to life in such a rich guise.

Star Wars Outlaws is a wonderful, albeit slightly rough around the edges, galactic space adventure that will appeal to both Star Wars and non-Star Wars fans alike. With a great story, a handful of really iconic locations and a whole host of variety running through its veins, Outlaws is a fantastic new world of adventure for Ubisoft Massive. Plus, it’s incredibly fun.

Star Wars Outlaws is a game that not only deserves to be played by fans of the franchise, but also by those looking for a different open world. Its progression system is really satisfying, and gameplay is really fun. It has some flaws, but it is still a very enjoyable title.

Star Wars Outlaws is a fantastic and thrilling entry in the series. It uproots a lot of the established Star Wars game tropes and benefits hugely from ditching the Jedi. Kay Vess' first outing is a worthy adventure that not only cements her character as a sarcastic rogue but as a contender for the top spot on the scum and villainy podium. Pair this with beautiful visuals and sound design and this is a Star Wars game fans need to pick up.

If you are looking for a completely different Star Wars experience, one that plays with a very good open-world, then Star Wars Outlaws should be taken in.

It's a big, fun game with an interesting story and a likeable protagonist that brings a new perspective to the Star Wars universe. The story of the Rebels' fight against the Empire takes on new shape through her eyes. And just as she brings a new perspective to the story, she brings a new gameplay to the universe. One based on intelligent and quiet progression through well-designed environments. You can enjoy all of this here, except that the game would have benefited from another 2 months or so of fine-tuning.

Star Wars Outlaws is a good time, once you come to terms with it's stealth gameplay. While the visuals feel rough around the edges, the story and writing are fun and the gameplay can be surprisingly engaging. Things do wear thin after doing the same stealth missions over and over again, but this is still a trip to the outer rim well worth taking.

The most important thing about a game like Outlaws is the atmosphere, and this is created using light, sound, music and exciting scenarios that feel like something out of a Star Wars film. This is where Outlaws delivers, and it becomes the game's absolute "saving grace", the ace up its sleeve if you will.

With some of the best world-building in the history of the gaming franchise, Star Wars Outlaws stands out from most of the other titles in the series for its immersion and richly detailed construction of different planets and moons in a galaxy far, far away. The good story and excellent setting are the great strengths of a game that doesn't fly higher only due to a combat system that lacks greater depth and becomes repetitive after a campaign that can easily exceed 50 hours. Outlaws doesn't reach the level of titles like Knights of the Old Republic or Jedi: Survivor, but it certainly ranks among the good Star Wars adaptations for games.

If we had to sum up Star Wars Outlaws, it would be in two words: immersion and classic. It's simple, we are facing the most immersive Star Wars video game we have ever seen, with a living and credible universe that perfectly recalls the atmosphere of the original trilogy through a multitude of details. On the other hand, its classic but effective gameplay and open world compensate for their lack of originality with varied game sequences and the density of the activities offered. The result is an experience that looks like a good student, which favors substance over form by showing that it perfectly masters its subject through a structure that does not innovate. One thing is certain, is that Star Wars fans will enjoy this adventure made by fans for fans.

Star Wars Outlaws has been a thoroughly welcome surprise. We expected a great big open world dullard of a thing, but instead we've got clever stealth systems, excellent level design, fun combat and a wise refining of the usual collectathon and busywork mechanics. Kay Vess and Nix make a highly competent stealth/death squad, the whole thing looks and sounds great and you even get to take off from planets, fly into space and blow stuff up. What it lacks in new mechanics or originality in gameplay, it makes up for with vibes. It's got it where it counts, kid.

There’s a sense of dizzying abundance to Star Wars Outlaws, especially when it comes to simply immersing players in the setting and letting them explore.

Star Wars Outlaws is by no means going to be in the conversation for the game of the year but I don’t think it’s as much of a bomb as others are making out. There are a few bad choices which do make the game look dated but there are also some interesting elements to the game. It does feel as if Starfield and Jedi Order had a lovechild that was born 5 years ago but some people enjoy those games and I am sure they will enjoy this game for what it is.

Even with the hiccups, Star Wars Outlaws is a fantastic story that effectively uses the heist genre and never keeps its characters in focus.

Star Wars Outlaws is a rollercoaster of a game that I loved and hated in different ways. I could be having the time of my life one minute, and the next be frustrated and want to turn it off. It feels like a game that with some tweaks, could be a classic. I think after a while it will iron out and be remembered as a truly fun and great game. As of now it has a lot of issues out of the box, and its inconsistency makes it harder to recommend outside the most hardcore of Star Wars fans.

Star Wars Outlaws is an exceedingly fun Star Wars game that's hindered by poor stealth systems and lacklustre mission design. Massive Entertainment establishes an incredible sense of place through its open worlds, accurately capturing the look and feel of the original trilogy of movies, but the experience falters the closer you stick to the critical path. If you've ever dreamed of becoming a scoundrel in a galaxy far, far away then you'll find a lot to like in Outlaws, and a lot more crawling through cramped ventilation systems than expected.
  22. I’ve been a die-hard Star Wars guy for decades, so I’m always happy to get a new movie, book, or game. I just wish this one turned out a tad better.

If space travel was removed from Star Wars Outlaws, the game would be stripped down to elements that were already considered obsolete seven years ago. The well-crafted Star Wars atmosphere does not make up for the painfully simple gameplay, and the main character lacks the adventurous charisma that would engage players in the story. Such a combination resulted in a mediocre title, distinguished by only a few original ideas for open-world fun.

A streamlined and multi-planet take on Ubisoft's familiar open-world action, paired with an original-trilogy-era Star Wars tale that follows an up-and-coming scoundrel rather than a Jedi or Imperial, sounds like a recipe for an absolutely incredible game. Outlaws, though, is uneven. Some of the settings, exploration, heists and adventures are everything a franchise fan could want in a sandbox scum and villainy game. Unfortunately, a lot of rough edges and a severe lack of storytelling depth holds Outlaws back from its true potential.

There are so many little moments in Outlaws that I love. However, the unexciting space combat and unrewarding syndicate-relationship tracker don't add anything meaningful to the experience. And neither does Kay, who feels like a protagonist without a meaty narrative arc. The game has some successes when it comes to gunslinging or sneaking--both of which are aided by a superb soundtrack and incredible sound design--but Outlaws does too much of what it does poorly, and too little of what it does well.

With a charismatic and charming cast, incredible ambience and one of the best companions in recent memory to compensate for its dated design and truly barren open worlds, Star Wars Outlaws is more than the sum of its parts.

Outlaws doesn't quite fit the role it was supposedly created for. Had the developer fully ironed out all the gameplay kinks and filled the environments with interesting things to do, it may have been able to go toe-to-toe with Jedi Survivor. Instead, it leaves behind little more than a few fond memories.

Star Wars Outlaws admirably attempts to simulate the sly space scoundrel life, but it quickly gets lost in a galaxy of frustratingly outdated gameplay and uninspired open-world bloat.

Although Star Wars Outlaws is a game that can have some points to improve, it is the sum of the parts and the bet for wanting to do something relatively different with the open world genre that forces to value it positively. Its adaptation of the underworld of the franchise created by George Lucas is practically unbeatable, and artistically it is a great triumph for Star Wars fans. [Recommended]

Yes, the story of putting together a crew to pull off a heist is great. And yeah, working with and against criminal gangs led by people like Jabba is fun. And I love ND-5 and Nix, too! But what I appreciate the most about Star Wars Outlaws is that finally, after all these years of watching the movies, I can step into the Star Wars universe and just exist in it.

STAR WARS Outlaws is the dream 3rd-person open world title so many of us wanted. It’s big, and fun, and while it has some flaws I have greatly enjoyed my time with it. A massive progression blocking soft-lock is a bit of a bummer and instead of this being a final score it’s going to be a review-in-progress one as I wait to see the rest of the title once it’s fixed. [Provisional Score = 80]

Star Wars Outlaws proposes a captivating adventure that immerses players in the rich and complex intricacies of the galactic underworld, whilst bringing a breath of fresh air to Ubisoft's familiar open-world formula. Despite some significant shortcomings in the combat and space exploration phases, the experience remains highly engaging thanks to a convincing narrative, a varied open world and (finally) natural, organic exploration, as well as well-developed characters. Nonetheless, technical problems on Xbox Series X tarnish an otherwise promising proposal. All in all, Star Wars Outlaws manages to captivate, but fails to fully realise the potential that its concept and universe can allow.
