    Good remake! Beautiful visual style, cool atmosphere, interesting new mechanics, no performance issues. Still the same favorite game, but in a new wrapper that you want to play again and again. A huge arsenal of weapons, pleasant shooting, dozens of challenges that force you to replay the game in a new way, beautiful boss fights, a good leveling system. I really liked how Ashley wasGood remake! Beautiful visual style, cool atmosphere, interesting new mechanics, no performance issues. Still the same favorite game, but in a new wrapper that you want to play again and again. A huge arsenal of weapons, pleasant shooting, dozens of challenges that force you to replay the game in a new way, beautiful boss fights, a good leveling system. I really liked how Ashley was reworked, now she is the most alive character that you want to empathize with and protect. Leon has not lost his charisma. But I absolutely didn’t like the way Louis was rewritten in the remake; the character seemed to be imposed by the plot, took up too much screen time and was wildly annoying.… Expand

    Resident Evil 4 is one of my newest favourite games, I only recently got into RE4 Classic so I do have somewhat of a bias towards the Remake, it's a gorgeous game with really good visuals. It feels more dark than the original, it feels great but I prefer the cheesiness of the original over this, this Game isn't entirely dark and witty but leans into it more than cheesiness that peopleResident Evil 4 is one of my newest favourite games, I only recently got into RE4 Classic so I do have somewhat of a bias towards the Remake, it's a gorgeous game with really good visuals.     Resident Evil is a franchise I never expected to like, horror wasn’t my thing until a few years ago, but ironically thanks to a certain pandemic I finally sat down with the RE2 & RE3 remakes & fell in LOVE. This was my first experience with RE4 & I’m so glad I finally experienced the magic this & the original have. The amount of love & care put into this game is so rare to find nowadays,Resident Evil is a franchise I never expected to like, horror wasn’t my thing until a few years ago, but ironically thanks to a certain pandemic I finally sat down with the RE2 & RE3 remakes & fell in LOVE. This was my first experience with RE4 & I’m so glad I finally experienced the magic this & the original have. The amount of love & care put into this game is so rare to find nowadays, this crazy win streak from Capcom since 2017 NEEDS to be studied in universities! Also screw GameStop for canceling my collectors edition pre-order 2 weeks before the game came out.
    Nearly everything in this game is perfect, it has the best combat in the series by a mile even if I miss Jill’s dodge rolls, but we get a new parry system that feels so good to use. This game is tougher than previous entries even on lower difficulty settings but it never felt unfair, THAT is great game design. The music was amazing & atmospheric, speaking of atmosphere this game isn’t as spooky as RE2, but I found it spookier than RE3. The Verdugo fight in the cryo tunnels made me pause the game & wait for my partner to get home so I could muster the courage to keep playing. I haven’t been that tweaked out at something since Village’s DLC with the mannequins! The boss fights were AWESOME too! I love the cheesy humor in these games, plus almost all of the characters were memorably remade as well. I also really loved how long the campaign could be if you wanted to do everything.
    If I had to nitpick, some of the puzzles weren’t the best. A couple flat out just annoyed me. I wasn’t as invested in the story as I wanted to be as much as I LOVE Leon & would name my first born after him. It was a great narrative don't get me wrong, I just prefer the original trilogy’s overarching story to 4, 5 & 6’s stories. I know it’s an easy target and it was vastly improved upon in this remake but I didn’t like escorting Ashley around. The only times I got game overs was because there was an adjustment period of getting used to escorting her. After getting used to her being around it was still stressful but that’s intentionally by design. I’m also usually not into side modes, so I bounced off of Mercenaries mode after having a little fun with Krauser for an hour or so. I weirdly preferred Village’s merc mode (mostly because I can play as the tall vampire lady in that).
    I’m so happy this game is as wildly successful as it is, I want to jump back in for a campaign replay but I’ll wait for the Separate Ways DLC, which I’m manifesting everyday. It’s gonna be tough to dethrone RE4 from my game of the year spot!    … Expand

    This is the Best Resident Evil Game to date since the original Resident Evil has came back in 2005, when I was turning 3 years old watching my dad play through the 4th game which does bring back good memories with my Dad, when playing the 2023 Remake of Resident Evil 4, plus I've completed the main story 12 times now because it's such an amazing story in general and the Graphics are "TopThis is the Best Resident Evil Game to date since the original Resident Evil has came back in 2005, when I was turning 3 years old watching my dad play through the 4th game which does bring back good memories with my Dad, when playing the 2023 Remake of Resident Evil 4, plus I've completed the main story 12 times now because it's such an amazing story in general and the Graphics are "Top Notch Mate" with the new additions to the game like driving a boat around the lake to riding a cart through the mine's n' having the option of doing stealth during the main story and all of the weapons are just amazing once Fully Upgraded whilst some of the weapons are just great without any Upgrades, so all I'm trying to say is that the Remake of Resident Evil 4 is definitely worth putting your hours into playing through it ❤️… Expand

    Bland and soulless despite having the best material they remake is just another cash grab like re 3 remake, now I know why people said there no soul in this remake, new Ashley is better but the rest is just downgraded especially leon ada and salazar

    Atmosphere and song in game is trash,why they can't make it better despite having 20 years more advantage?? Lazy

    If i should criticize the game as a remake, gameplay is well developed for me this game has most enjoyable gameplay in entire franchise, graphic and animations are far better than other aaa games (of course there are some expections like lastofus2 and rdr2), loyalty and innovations has balance. Beyond remake, game has classical basic and predictable Resident Evil story. Luis, Ashley andIf i should criticize the game as a remake, gameplay is well developed for me this game has most enjoyable gameplay in entire franchise, graphic and animations are far better than other aaa games (of course there are some expections like lastofus2 and rdr2), loyalty and innovations has balance. Beyond remake, game has classical basic and predictable Resident Evil story. Luis, Ashley and Krauser are in a better position comparing to original. Yeah, I was confused for a while for Ada's voice actor changing but I didn't care anything about it after her second scene. Game causes tension not fear, don't expect anything about horror.… Expand

    One of the best linear games I have ever played. The combat is amazing and also very intense. This is because the game gives you just about enough ammo to survive but not enough to feel ever safe. The enemy variety is very clever from parasite spiders to flying bugs.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Resident Evil 4 Remake is definitely worth your time and money. It's one of the top games this year and best game to get right now and on par with the original in and Improves upon it in so many ways. Story: The story is pretty much the same as in the original but with a few new twists and turns there to keep you invested. It's a lot more well paced and crafted. A lot of characters have been improved and have more depth now, characters like Leon, Saddler, Krauser, Luis and Ashley have more in-depth characterization this time. There's a lot more lore also with the bosses and environments that gives the game more flavor and heart. The voice acting is great also everyone does an amazing job with their performances maybe except Ada Wong but everyone else sounds excellent. The dialogue is a lot more mature and sharper as well, I felt like in the original it was kind of too goofy with the dialogue but in this game the goofiness is there but it's balanced out by the more serious moments and it's a great balance overall.


    Gameplay: Instead of standing in place and shooting, in the more modern Resident Evils and Remakes you're able to move and shoot which makes gameplay more smoother and modern. This game has a lot of emphasis in action but it's also a horror game. Action Horror is what I can describe the remake and that's how it was in the original as well. You still have to worry about health and ammo and many situations just like classic Resident Evil also looking for key items and treasures. The Merchant is back but this time has side missions for you to do and complete, what I love about the side missions is it doesn't take too long to do and there all really fun to do especially fighting the side bosses. The Merchant sells items and weapons to you, a lot of the weaponry is back along with some new ones too to experiment with and a crafting system that comes back from Resident Evil 8. Gameplay is a lot more smoother and experimental. It's a lot more balanced and every weapon has a punch to it, none of the weapons feel like a dud and every single gun shines in there own way there's a lot of guns in the game to pick and choose as a favorite and I love that it gives you more options. The game is 15 hours long and it's completely worth it. Every minute and hour is not wasted in this game, there's content all around you in this. All of the bosses are here too with the exception of one boss cut from the game which was U3 and two areas from the castle aren't here but it absolutely does not compromise the greatness of this game and the world they built, if they anything it flows a lot better with out them and they replace those areas with new areas and I really love that about this remake.


    Graphics: This game is gonna look great regardless if your own PS4, PS5 or Xbox. The graphics are insane in this game with a lot of details and little things that will catch your eye. The areas are incredible and the architecture is impeccable. Everything is so realized and feels just like classic Resident Evil 4.


    The verdict: This game is worth every penny. Capcom put a lot of soul and care into this game. Resident Evil 4 Remake is an astonishing achievement that should be played and enjoyed by everyone. I'm on my 10th playthrough of this game l just unlocked all the guns and now just playing through the game with all my favorite weapons. This game is insanely replayable just like the original with treasures and optional puzzles to find, weapons to experiment with and outfits to make yourself more goofy. This game is a masterpiece. A perfect remake for an already perfect game.    … Expand

The game dose a great job with its combat and its movement, the knife now being a destructible item instead of a unbreakable weapon is so much more realistic although I will miss just being able to have more space in my suitcase and being able to infinitely slice through enemies but it is a nice balance. Being able to aim and move feels better than being stuck in the one spot. The scenery is so beautiful it is amazing how good they made it all look I found myself just taking in the surroundings and taking my time with each area the game engine has came a long way. All in all it is a great game so fun and definitely just like the original I really hope after this game they go to RE1 and remake it I would love for that to happen and see them do it right, Jill deserves better than re 3 (even though I say it’s a fine remake it’s not a great one the original was better) and I’d love to play as Chris’s but I think they’re have to try use the village model.… Expand

    The best remake of a game I never thought needed a remake. This game made my adrenaline spike to over 9000 several times like only a classic Resident Evil game can do. Ignore the haters and play the game, not sure why Metacritic has become a safe haven for trolls and haters recently.

    De longe um jogo excelente, não havia jogado o anterior, pois nunca tive afinidade com resident anteriores ao 7, mas gostei bastante desse, não tive problemas com bugs, a otimização esta excelente, joguei no xbox ss e pc

    Resident Evil 4 Remake is an absolute delight. Veterans of the original will love the changes and newcomers can now appreciate just how good this game actually is. Capcom continues the trend of keeping the series fresh in our minds. I cannot wait for the next new entry as well as what remake they do next. Almost guaranteed we will see RE5 next, but Capcom please listen to your fans and give us that Code Veronica remake we so rightly desire. Regardless, fans of the series are eating so good right now.

    Small technicalities aside, Resident Evil 4 on Xbox Series X|S is a wonderfully recreated thrill ride from start to finish. Capcom have struck a perfect balance that should keep both veteran players and newbies happy.
