    Once upon a time, game studios like Bethesda and Arcane brought out excellent single player games with exciting stories and interesting gameplay mechanics..... But then they let Microsoft buy them out, Phil Spencer said: "Let there be crap" and it became REDFALL

    Arkane Studios never set the gaming world on fire but they always used to release decent games, From the under appreciated BioShock 2, Dishonored 1 and 2 and the bit disappointing Prey (imho). It went really bad with Wolfenstein: Youngblood that killed an otherwise excellent ip.

    Deathloop, a year exclusive for PlayStation, probably had a ton of help from PlayStation to make it a decent enough game that scored well although it's gunplay and enemy AI wasn't great.
    Arkane, part of Bethesda Softworks that is now owned for a bit more than two years by Xbox Microsoft, released Redfall after a 12 month delay and it doesn't look good. The 4 player, co-op, single player game is graphically very bad, technically underperforms, enemy ai is the worst I've seen in decades, gunplay and progression system is terrible and not developed and the story is uninspiring and boring.
    We know Arkane isn't a high caliber studio, no one should expect that, but this is a $70 game that has no right to exist. The only thing that changed is that Xbox is now the owner of the studio and we see this is many of their releases; very mediocre Game pass filler. Xbox customers should expect more from what of the richest software companies in the world. All advertising for this game was false and Microsoft clearly didn't care, not about the game and definitely not about their customers.
    My advice is to stay as far away as possible of this product (I can't even call it a game).    … Expand

    I bought game on play keep freezing and the graphic bad terrible and story don’t make sense and I did decide and story don’t make sense refund get my money and not worth $70 and the worth $4 and lot problem and vampire crash all map can’t attack and and zombie can’t attack and whole game don’t make sense story and map too short and good day

    Bad enemy AI.
    Full of bugs and bad mechanics.
    If you want to play Single player, it needs internet connection always?! Why the f!?
    Playing coop, it doesnt save your game progression... plain riddiculous

    If someone asked me what I think my top 3 worst games I have ever played were, this is going right up there. This game is disgusting looking for a "next gen" experience. It looks like a ID@Xbox game was left out and skipped the Xbox 360 Era of arcade games. Redfall is a sorry, lame excuse for a game. Graphics take 10+ seconds to render, locked at 30fps, and while all that is happeningIf someone asked me what I think my top 3 worst games I have ever played were, this is going right up there. This has to be a joke from Microsoft or something that we haven't caught onto yet. At best Redfall is a bargain bin game that you would find at gamestop for a dollar because I wouldn't ever spend more on this game.     Arkade, really? Is this what xbox fans have been waiting for? Both the story and the gunplay feel all very lame and indie-game-like. 70$ wasted for anyone who bought and didn't refund.

    So far is really boring. I am playing and really trying to like it but its just a meh game. The guns are all the same, it just change the levels. So much to explore around the theme but its just shoot and level up. Bleh.

    Playing this feels to me like Arcane came out with the world and characters put it all together and showed it off telling management this is the base idea and we will sort out the story and missions after the fact we just wanted to give you a Pre-Pre-Alpha look at what we wanted to make next and then totally forgot to write the rest of the story and plot points. The missions and side content the infiltration and mystique. Coming from someone that has been a Hardcore Arcane fan since playing Dishonored on the Xbox 360 and have been playing everything since.

    It is heartbreaking to see a game that feels like it should have been their first outing where they learned all of their mistakes and would build up to Dishonored and Prey. However unfortunately that is not the case. While playing you even feel that it is a freshman outing as the graphics are worse than Dishonored and it came out in 2012.

    I haven't quite completed it yet but with as easy as the AI is to fool that shouldn't take long as I am using the same stealth approaches I used in the previous games and I can pretty much take out all the humans and then clean up the vampires without much more than an occasional Yellow question mark.    … Expand

    This game is so lifeless and boring the enemies barely even engage with you. Can literally run circles around them. Game doesnt even have proper cutscenes but instead uses a slideshow smh. How did this not get delayed?

    I really wanted to like redfall. Love Arkanes previous games but this is a far cry from those. I’ve played on and off for the past 2 days with friends and solo. Experienced multiple crashes, utterly broken Ai, a grocery list worth of bugs, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The real problem at the core of the game though is that it’s just bad. The AI doesn’t even know how to get around a car, and simply crouching directly in front of them keeps you off their sights. Combine the laughable AI with sub-30fps for a FPS in 2023, cringeworthy character dialogue that the developer probably thought sounded cool, outdated graphics,Possibly the worst game ever made.     Completely broken game, practically non-existent story, the faces of the dolls in the game are totally ugly badly modeled, broken AI of the game. Congratulations Phill Spencer you are finishing sinking the xbox.

    This game is literally one of the worst games ever created, hardly any enemies to fight skills that contradict each other with abysmal missions, design and a non existent story that couldn’t even add an animatronic cutscene. Xbox clearly don’t care.

    I really got no clue why Phil 30fps Spencer was thinking this was a great thing to release in that state, buggy, empty world, no cut scenes.. I Feel bad for the ppl who actually bought this game, one thing is i waisted 100 GB and power to download it on GamepASS its a completely different story to waits hard earned money on this trash game

The textures and bland colours with no details, enemy AI seems to of been ported from a megadrive game. 30 fps seems to be the goal and not the actual running rate. Disclaimers on the box stating 60 fps performance mode due at a later date so they dont get sued due to it stating 60 fos on the front of the box art.

    This release has done way more damage than just delaying. Its a gamepads game so there was no benefit to launching unfinished other than to pull the team off this and onto the next project but that has just tainted the name of the development house, microsoft and probably lost subs for gamepass. Above and beyond all of that, they are charging AAA prices for this if you dont get it on gamepass.

    I cant stress enough not to buy this, it will just have them continue to release unfinished and sub standard games. Trust me when I say this game will be abandoned by the development team or at best a couple of people will be left to push out mediocre patches with no content and fixes that will just create more bugs.    … Expand

    I am struggling to think of a worse 1st party studio game having ever been released.

    Having spent 2 hours in the town of Redfall I am yet to find any redeemable features. So let's have a quick run through of my experience. Opening the game I was met to barely loading textures and a dialogue that seems to have come from a direct to dvd sci-fi channel movie. I entered the world and    I am struggling to think of a worse 1st party studio game having ever been released.

    Having spent 2 hours in the town of Redfall I am yet to find any redeemable features. So let's have a quick run through of my experience.

    Opening the game I was met to barely loading textures and a dialogue that seems to have come from a direct to dvd sci-fi channel movie.

    I entered the world and immediately was met with awful looking textures and a brain dead AI that stood within 5 foot of my character pointing his gun at the floor, another AI then appeared that had no character animations and moonwalked down some stairs. I snuck up on both, hit them once and they clipped through my character, grunted slightly and died.

    I then moved through the town coming across exactly 0 enemies and made it to the Firestation Hub. I spent roughly 20 seconds struggling to aim at the enemies, went downstairs to the basement and outwitted the Vampire by standing behind a chair. I found the shotgun, stabbed the vampire and helped the NPC's escape to safety.

    Redfall then loaded up Microsoft Powerpoint and showed me an in engine slide show of all the characters pointing at textures that wouldn't load up.

    I decided to start the first mission and the character I needed to talk to had vanished. I spoke to a floating clip board and they told me to speak to other NPC's in the firestation.

    I spoke to the other NPC's who told me to go outside. I saw 2 helicopters explode, went to the crash sites and encountered 0 enemies on the way.

    I ran in to the 1st crash site & picked up an object of some description and killed the last remaining brain dead AI.

    We then trudged to the 2nd crash site that was guarded by 4 cult members and 2 vampires. I used all my cunning to crouch and punch the NPC's and then used a technique known as "walking backwards and moving slightly to the left" to dodge both vampires.

    I killed them, walked up a hill, found a random object and then that was the mission completed. I then fast travelled back to the Firestation and watched the textures slowly load in front of me.

    It took a full 3 minutes for the logo on the floor to render.

    I then had to go and take over a safehouse, but to do that I had to find a key, I found the key having ran in to 0 enemies, then a vampire saw me, picked me up and killed me in 1 hit.

    I then uninstalled the game and will never play it again.

    The 1 positive I can find is that the logo looks quite nice.

    No amount of patches, fixes or road maps can fix this game. Arkane need to move on to something else and leave this dumpster fire behind.

    Well worth the new $70 price tag    … Expand

    As an Arkane fan, this one hurts. By now you've heard this game is bad. You know about the performance issues and everything else. But I'm not basing my score on those particular elements. When you strip away all of the technical issues, at its core, Redfall is simply uninspired and boring. Outside of some of the designs and pieces of lore, this doesn't even feel like an Arcane game.     The result is a game with no identity of its own. Redfall simultaneously wants to be a looter shooter like Borderlands, in an open world like Fallout's, with action like Dying light and a lengthy multiplayer experience like Destiny. But it fails on all counts. The game environments are bleakly empty, the gameplay is wooden. Like the vampires from the world of Redfall, the game has no soul.

    Sadly, Redfall had unbelievable potential and a dynamic studio behind this that is known for quality gaming, but under delivered at quite literally almost every facet of the game. Redfall, unfortunately, should be avoided, and in fact, I hope that the industry starts taking a look at these games and starts evaluating its processes, because if you're only as good as your last game, then Arkane isn't looking good at all.
