    I’m not too big a fan of how much was stripped away in Ninja Storm’s Connections History mode, but it still does a good job of picking the right moments to sum up for Naruto-noobies while still offering fun fights alongside Boruto’s extra story. Ninja Storm fans will know what they’re coming back to, this time with a larger roster than Storm 4. Connections is ultimately a great little collection of all things Naruto.

    Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections attempted to be a tribute to Masashi Kishimoto's legacy. Unfortunately, it is a continuous game that does not reflect significant changes with respect to its previous installments, it is fun and good to spend some time with.

    Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections arrived with the promise of being the definitive Naruto game. However, Cyberconnect2's work is not only too continuist, but also cuts inexplicable content that was present in previous installments of the series. It is true that its gameplay is still fun, and that in terms of content it is really impressive, but it does not mean that we expected much more from a game of this type.

    A nice tip of the hat to the Naruto series after more than twenty years, Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is an accomplished celebratory package, albeit one that's unfortunately deficient in a few key areas.

    CyberConnect2's new game feels like a missed opportunity, with a lazily built Naruto story mode and identical gameplay to the past games. Boruto's story mode and the huge roster of characters help it to partly recover, but it's too little, especially for a game that is supposed to celebrate 20 years of Naruto history.

    If you are happy to play alone, then I can recommend NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS as the Ultimate Naruto game, with a lot of content and fighters to go at. But without a functioning online section, this seems like a missed opportunity.

    Even if Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections still delivers the same strong arguments (dynamic gameplay, rich roster and massive staging), we deplore the lack of new features and an original story which misses its target. It could have gone the extra step to be your all around good fighting game.

    If you are a fan of the Naruto or Boruto anime or manga then you will find loads to love about Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections. Touting the largest roster in series history and an in-depth encyclopedia that covers all the various titles and terms that are used in the series which makes it easy for newcomers to understand. Fights are dazzling and chaotic and developer CyberConnect2 has done an amazing job in that regard. But with the multiplayer being broken on Xbox and the fact the gameplay has been largely unchanged I can’t help but think that this series is in need of some sort of shakeup to push it forward into the future.

    Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is ultimate in name only. While the title bills itself as the most comprehensive release in the series, that is only true for its impressive cast of over 130 fighters. On the other hand, as for its story mode... between a minimally regressive setting, absent major boss fights and above all an original story that is not very interesting, there is reason to be frankly disappointed. Ultimately, only fans of the franchise determined to play online will find what they are looking for by taking advantage of the generous roster and the gameplay that is still as effective despite the years. For others, we advise you to turn to the first four episodes, which are available on all platforms and often at a low price, to better enjoy the story of Naruto.

    Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections may have the flashiest graphics in the series, but there’s almost nothing else here to make me seek it out over past entries with basically the same fighting system and better single-player stories.

    NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS is ultimately a big disappointment, regressing on many points compared to previous CyberConnect2 releases. Admittedly, it boasts the largest roster in the series, but there is no excuse for the title’s lack of ambition, even less so when you consider that seven years separate this episode from Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. At best, it is a snack designed to keep fans waiting for more content (if not new content). For the rest of you, skip it.
