MLB The Show 22 continues to offer a solid baseball game that is a lot of fun to play. San Diego Studio has the basics down, and while they iterate on them each year, they don’t break what’s working. When so much around the core gameplay has grown stagnant, though, and players are being pushed to spend so much ongoing money to have the best experience, it becomes a lot harder to recommend to all but the die-hards.

MLB The Show 22 is a finely-tuned baseball simulator that offers a nice range of options depending on your patience but is possessed of a nearly insurmountable difficulty curve for beginning players, especially those who are either uninvested in the sport, more accustomed to simpler arcade-style baseball games, or even fans of other popular sports simulators that require less pinpoint accuracy to succeed in. Fortunately, if you’re determined enough to learn to play the game, there are endless pitches to swing at and new games to start over as you fine-tune your button-pressing timing.

All the lazy developers did in this game is slap the number 22 on this game. They were so lazy, they couldn't even update the roster accurately. The greedy developers are asking $70 for this broken pile of garbage. When I won my first few games, it somehow was recorded as a loss. This is a AAA game by a billion dollar corporation, and they can't even tell if I win or lose a game. Even indie developers can get that basic feature right. That is embarrassing.

The multiplayer is garbage. RTTS is the exact same trash as before. The co-op is broken. I got this game for Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost, but that doesn't excuse the game breaking bugs on this pile of trash. If you don't have Game Pass, then I don't recommend this game at all.

It's also starting to go down the same road that every sports video game franchise is taking currently. So few tweaks from last year's game. They're starting to all feel the exact same, but again, this one isn't as good as the last game. Full Review »

This game is somehow worse then MLB 21
The "new" commentators are horrible and incredibly repetitive, cringe and liveless.
Literally the first match i played in RTTS it feels like i've heard every commentator line already twice in the same match. It also sounds like its from a mobile game and does not belong in a AAA game that you're being charged 70 bucks for.
The music in the menus is terrible that makes my ears bleed.
The only thing that was sort of an improvement was that they introduced a 2-way player archetype, but even that was done poorly.
I already hated the archetype system and they made it even worse with random passives that don't do anything unless you meet certain criteria in your match.
Random settings that are removed from previous titles that makes the gameplay non enjoyable
Game is also riddled with bugs and glitches
No upgrades for next gen besides fast loading
Terrible weather effects as if its ported from a gameboy
There is literally no reason to get nor play this game
I'm so glad that this game was available in gamepass on Xbox and didn't buy it
I feel bad for anyone who payed for this game
Hope this was helpfull in any way
Spend your hard earned money on something more worthy
