You will enjoy your journey through Kong: Survivor Instinct, perhaps more than you may have anticipated. It's refreshing to play a Metroidvania with a focus on exploration, and you'll want to uncover every secret the world holds.

I wish I had more to say about the game in general, but it is a relatively simple experience. The campaign only lasts around 5-6 hours and never really switches up dynamics. With tedious combat and clunky controls, it is serviceable at best, and kind of boring at worst. Can we get a remaster of the move, the game. Kong deserves better.

Kong: Survivor Instinct is a puzzle platformer that lacks bite. Unfortunately, the developers never unleashed the reigns and this prevented it from reaching its potential. This was a shame as Kong and the other titans didn't sit in the spotlight for long enough.

Kong: Survivor Instinct is not a great video game, but it also isn’t a disaster. There are elements and moments where you become quite embroiled in the story and fall into the rhythm of the platforming, and this is bolstered by the fact that it’s quite a tight and streamlined experience lasting around four-to-five hours if you attempt to find everything. You don’t play this game and feel offended and cheated, as was the case with last year’s Skull Island or even at times with the recent The New Empire film, but at the same time, there’s not a lot here that stands out and really impresses. It’s a simplistic and budgeted offer based on one of the most expensive and lucrative franchises in entertainment, and that’s it.
