    Overall I enjoyed my time with high on life. The metroidvania gameplay kept things interesting. I was surprised by the quality of this production in terms of graphics and animation. Especially compared to previous lower budget squanch game outings.

    On series x I encountered various game breaking bugs. Thankfully the restart checkpoint feature fixed most of these for me.

    If I'm honest I probably wouldn't have bought this but it was a day one gamepass release and surprisingly good so I played through to the end. It's quite long overall around 15-30 hrs depending on how much you like the metroidvania collectathon tucked into its DNA.

    I found the soundtrack to be too much and ended up muting it to focus on the humourous dialogue instead. The jokes come thick and fast - it's kind of a 'throw everything at the wall and who cares what sticks attitude'. And so some of it was hilarious, some just plain messed up. It goes without saying if you're not a fan of Justin roilands brand of surrealist, often sexualised humour then this game will not entertain you.    … Expand

    High on Life has a-decent game-play with 4 guns and some upgrades the story is not that good but it had some jokes some were funny and others cringe moments overall a good experience and I recommend it since it's free on game pass

Though the variate of weapons is great, the variety in enemies and combat is non-existent, it becomes repetitive real quickly, as there are only basic enemies(the weak one, the normal one, and the slow big one that deals lots of damage) The boss fights are also repetitive, as they are all based in the same mechanism( you fight the boss, he develops into a stronger boss, he triggers an ability that makes you unable to touch the ground or you`ll die, and this goes on with most of the bosses). there are 3 different type of maps, but they are all generic, so most of the time, you are looking at prefab assets in diffrent aspects and colors. Apart from this, it is still a really fun game to play, and the story is quite good, i think this game is worth playing,
    You can tell their main focus was to make a game that was not just based on combat, but more of a critic to modern generic games, as High on Life tires to be innovative.
    I see lots of people criticizing the way the guns talk and how annoying they can be, but that is the way they are intended to be, as when you are fighting or in a tense moment, you are not going to be comfortable, but instead nervous and annoyed with everihing that may cause you to loose focus.    … Expand

    For a relatively short game it still felt too long. I enjoy Rick and morty but the gameplay here is just joyless. Everything feels bad to control from movement, to interacting with contextual movement, to shooting. It would have been tolerable in short doses but every encounter eventually leaves me think 'oh no not again' as waves and waves of the same enemies just reappear and you do theFor a relatively short game it still felt too long.     God this game was incredible, It was so refreshing to actually laugh at a game for once. Words could not begin to describe how goofy of a game this is but, YOU HAVE TO PLAY!!

    The dark humour is excellent, the game play is decent but has loads of room for improvement or expansion should they make a sequal (please do)
    The bosses battles are great, they are challenging but not throw a remote through the screen hard like elden ring! This is easily 8/10 for the laughs and surprisingly good gameplay when I came into it not fully knowing    We need more games like this.

    Armas que fazem piadas, criticam, orientam e conversam entre si ! Isso é novo, é disso que gostamos e queremos. Embora os inimigos sejam repetidos, temos vários boss. E embora os mapas/planetas sejam simples, cada um tem características que se adaptam as novas armas e suas skills. O que mais gostei foi se movimentar com jet pack, escorregar, ficar pendurando em abelhas ou andando de ladoArmas que fazem piadas, criticam, orientam e conversam entre si !     I personally loved this game and would recommend it to anyone, the "professional" critics are entitled to there opinion of course but it should be rated way higher than the 60's in my opinion

The ability to edit gun chatter adds a unique element to the game and makes it a more enjoyable experience. The creators, Justin Roiland and his team, have done a fantastic job in creating a game that is both fun and engaging. I highly recommend trying this game and getting lost in its world.     Para mi sería un 86 pero sólo se puede puntuar con unidades. El juego es muy divertido, el gunplay sin ser muy elaborado tiene variedad de armas y algunas habilidades por cada arma. Tiene tintes de metroidvania con bastantes idas y venidas si se quiere mejorar todas las armas y conseguir todos los coleccionables. La variedad de enemigos es escasa pero tampoco creo que sea necesario ponerPara mi sería un 86 pero sólo se puede puntuar con unidades.     High on Life is a unique and highly enjoyable masterpiece! I don't even like or typically play shooting games, but once I started playing I could NOT stop playing till i did everything there was to do in the game. Storyline is wonderful, recomend everyone give it a try at least.

    This game is nauseating, legitimately. I tried to play and couldn’t because I was so nauseated, so I had to stop. Tried to watch a steamer play it and still nauseated. I am not sick, ill or anything of the sort. I was so hyped for this game because I love the style and humour. But it’s a hard pass now. Shame.

    As an enjoyer of Rick and Morty hearing the same voices saying the most random things all the time: I almost felt sad for the writers because it just seemed like the dialogue was terrible improv instead of actual comedic writing. Repeating “f*ck f*ck oh f*ck man that dude is totally f*cked like whoa” isn’t comedy and sadly the game is filled with a slurry of “comedic” lines to that affect.

    Breaking the 4th wall is funny when you don’t expect it but the game is just like any recent episode of Rick & Morty, obnoxious, unfunny and attempting to be meta by pointing out the joke or a trope while it’s happening. Very underwhelming.

    Even details like the interdimensional cable which is usually funny because of the limitless possibilities of scenarios and comedy falls flat and sounds like a middle aged man was given a podcast microphone and various psychedelics…
    Overall, i think it’s a waste of time and money, for us and them. The game is visually beautiful and the concept is amazing but the story and writing are terrible and it just becomes a glorified platformer with no sense of achievement since every “unlockable” is basically given to you…    … Expand

    Shooter elements are there, but mostly to create a background for driving narrative. It is more a parody on FPS games than an FPS game itself.

Ignore all the negative reviews left by the other console solely because it's not on their platform. This game is aSuch a memorable and hilarious game. If you are a Rick and Morty fan then this game feels like it's set in that universe. The jokes and commentary are absolutely hysterical. It's not for everybody, but man is it memorable. Some secret upgrades for guns, secret areas, a secret boss or two, etc. Plays like Doom, gotta move constantly so you don't get hit, health regens, best gun is the pistol, tho. I killed pretty much every guy with the pistol, other guns just don't compare to it until you get the last one which is basically a BFG. Last boss fight was the hardest, all boss fights were fun.     Its short and sweet, it took me around 16 hours to complete. It's a very funny game, even people who are not fans of FPS games will like this game because of the humor and cheese dialogues.

    A must play game without any doubt.

This game is hilarious from start to ending the gameplay is okay the story is pretty good the world needs more exploring and they should do a better job of making the upgrades meaningful in the next game and please give us a longer game and don't go back to the same areas over and over again put more planets in there even give side quest would be nice to get back stories on the planets maybe even some kind of legendary bounties cooler suits and better upgrades maybe even stuffed missions in the next game but overall the first game is pretty good for a starting off and the humor carries the game… Expand

    One of the worst games I’ve ever played. I noticed Xbox fans were definitely trying their best to hype this, and now that it has released, we know the truth- it’s bad. Very bad. The cringe dialogue was enough to make me stop playing it.

    Very fun game made by the creators of rick and Morty, being able to try this game on game pass made it a big plus price wise and the humour is what I personally enjoy, for those that don't like the frequency of the talking can turn that down in the settings but it's a very solid game with in my eyes no flaws .

    Looks great on PC and Series X. If you like Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites you will enjoy this. I'm a big fan of Red Letter Media, and good bad movies, so it was cool to see that as well.

    This game is fricking stupid, it's irreverent, doesn't take itself seriously, reminds you that you could be doing something more important than playing this, mocks about the clichés and bad practices of the industry, makes you wonder what the hell are you playing every 5 minutes and I absolutely love it
    Would give 10/10 but has some annoying bugs

    Didn’t expect much but as it turns out I really thoroughly enjoyed this game. I didn’t find the jokes overly annoying or repetitive like people said and the mechanics are really fun and unique. I found myself wanting to pick it up over and over and I was finished before I knew it. Feels fresh and made me kind of nostalgic for the good old days of gaming when all that matters was if it wasDidn’t expect much but as it turns out I really thoroughly enjoyed this game.     Such a freshing game that doesn't take itself seriously. I loved the comedy and the more casual FPS elements. Too many games these days take combat far too seriously and it's nice to have a more casual game that doesn't require any sort of grind or complex mechanics which you easily forget after 2 days away from the game. A very good looking game also. Cannot wait for the sequel.

    Great Humor, nice graphics and the devs are very fast with fixing the tiny bugs, this game have. Would give it a 9/10 but because of the 0/10 ratings, from the Sony ponys, it deserves the 10/10.

    This game was fun, funny, refreshing and a delight to play. Squanch games is definitely a studio i am excited about and can't wait for them to put out more games. I really enjoyed this game from the humor to the gameplay.

    Very good game with good humor, the gunplay too actually surprised me because its done quite well in the way that i can alot of enjoyment from it.
    The worlds are very beautiful and the city especially.

    Really enjoyed playing this game. Great humor and the voices of Rick and Morty just make it work. Performance could be improved and I would like to see a FOV toggle because it feels a little bit claustrophobic.

    High On Life is a 10! It is the first first-person shooter, that I've enjoyed playing in a long time. Every map had such a unique style, that has not been done in any game IMO. The colors and the creatures like the Mopplets were so well done. The boss fights were all fun, the Metroid-like levels where you have to use all the gun's abilities to find all the secrets.     Amazing! I cant get over how much i loved this game. Great metroid vainia platformer and raunchy af. Read some of the professional reviews i wonder if they even played the same game that i did. Its not perfect but pretty damned close.

    Great game, this is what i was looking for, from Halo. A fun story to get into. Not sure why the bad meta reviews. Game pass is for gamers, and xbox knows its audience.     Un juego genial. Le cuesta un poco arrancar, pero cuando consigues dos o tres armas adicionales se vuelve muy agil, frenético y divertido. Muy buen sentido del humor y técnicamente no desentona. Maravilloso que gracias a GamePass no tengamos que creernos las falacias y tonterías que vienen de la prensa.

    Muy recomendado.

    It's a fun chill game and it surprised a lot of gamers this year. The banter with my weapons is fantastic and made me want to hear more. Squanch games made a mature game that is different than anything else, sleeper hit of the year. The game is not perfect but damn what a great time I had playing High on Life.

    The Rick&Morty-esque humor is great and really resonated with me. The problem is the gameplay. It’s very…average, to say the least. Nothing new, nothing noteworthy. It isn’t *bad*, it’s just not great. If you have gamepass I’d say try it; there’s a 50/50 chance it might be worth the download. Otherwise I’d say skip it.

    Ground breaking? No but it is a fun game that's perfect for when you just want to relax and be entertained. If Rick and Morty isn't your thing the humor might turn you off. Also to can reduce the amount of chatter from your gun and the NPCs in the settings.

    High on Life was stuttering and buggy at launch. The jokes are a hit and a miss. Can get annoying but there is an option to lower the banter between you and the gun. Gameplay is basic. Story is okay. High on Life is an average at best. It's best to play gamepass than paying $60 for it. Not worth it

    A very enjoyable game. High on Life makes fun of its self and kept me laughing throughout.
    There are some visual bugs here and there, also a few times I had to restart a checkpoint to fix game breaking bugs. FPS issues were fixed in a Day 1 patch and am sure more patches will come.
    Overall High on Life has a great game play and level design that kept me coming back for more.

    High on Life is an enjoyable yet silly first person shooter that works on most levels. While the humour sometimes misses he target, for the most part it is quite a witty and humouress story with interesting protagonists and antagonists to be found along the way as you explore this immersive alien shooter. Definitely a game for those looking for something unique yet different in the first person shooter genre.

    Humor is sometimes tough to get right. You have to pace it right and you shouldn’t overdo it. Justin Roiland and co. unfortunately throw it at you in mindless spades and hope something sticks. And underneath it all? Just a very average shooter.
