I haven't put a review out on here for some time, but there are some things so maddening about Halo Infinite, i felt compelled to write this review.. and before anyone accuses me of being a Sony Fanboy, i game primarily on Xbox.

As a massive Halo fan ever since the original game on the original Xbox, i was looking forward to this game early on, despite not knowing much about it, and with the promise from 343 that they wouldn't make the mistake of omitting Split screen again after that mistake and backlash in Halo 5, i was looking forward to the release of Infinite, but things happening with this game have all but ruined it for me, hence the very low score.

First, there was the lacklustre graphics in the gameplay reveal, making 343 and Xbox delay the game another year to polish it and keep working on it, which i was all for, and granted, it does look a lot better than then.

The two key things that ruined this game for me however, was revealed before release, and that was that the game was going no release with no only split screen missing, despite their statement that they had learned from their mistakes in this area, but it also would not have Co-Op at all on release out of the box?! This in itself is unforgivable for Halo, especially after a year long delay, and should never have rushed out and released without such fundamental features. This alone had pretty much ruined the excitment i had for this game, and then i was surprised when it got even worse, when i found out just before the game released, when i discovered that the physical version of the game isn't at all what it should be, and that is to say it seems to have pretty much nothing on the disk itself, no PvP or even campaign is installable from the disk?! It has to be installed online and can't be installed from the disk, meaning you do not have a standalone game from the disk itself, and you cannot install the game unless you are online and connected to Xbox live, even if you have the disk!.. To those that download their games, this won't mean anything, but to those who value physical ownership og a game, and the ability to install it without having to rely on online or a service, and want to be able to install it years down the line without internet and service reliance, this is a very big deal indeed, and this is one of the key, if not main reasons people buy their games on physical media.. This will be the first Halo in the entire series that you cannot own physically, and this is a worrying trend if Xbox is willing to treat and release it's flagship series in such a way..

This decision by Xbox/343, has pretty much made buying the game on disk pretty pointless and redundant, with the disk merely being an online activation key, this is not what people buy physical for, and a lot of people are going to be disappointed and angry, and i am one of of them, because i have wasted my money buying a disk that doesn't even have the game on it?! Sewriously, i may as well have played it on Gamepass and saved my money, and if i knew then what i know now, i would have not bought it, and frankly i feel completely cheated and want a refund for my disk with essentially nothing on it, most of it had to be installed from online when the game released anyway, and wouldn't work without it, don't fall into the trap i did and buy it on disk, because owning it on disk is pointless, for the reasons i explained.

What makes this even more saddening, is that the game actually feels and plays well, but the other things have just ruined the whole thing for me, and yes, while the game does play well, the enviroment in the game is very one tone, or i should say two tone, because there is only two things you will see in this game, the same old grass, rocks, hills and sporadic sprinkling of trees and structures, or the similar looking indoor bits, there is no enviromental diversity throughout the whole game, which gets old quite fast, which wouldn't be so bad if the campaign was particularly interesting,. but it just isn't, it's possibly as weak or even weaker than Halo 5's, and that's saying something...

I always expected this game to play well, it's Halo, in fact the combat feels better than any other game in the series (the driving feels a little off for some reason though), but Halo is about far more than that, it's about it's universe, story, lore and game features such as Co-Op and split-screen, and and its lite on the former and completely absent of the split screen and Co-Op. Yes, they say they are putting Split screen and Co-Op in in half a year or mores, time, but we only have their word on that, and even then, people will have played the game by then, many people wanted to share their first play through with others in Co-Op, and 343 have denied their players this experience. In fact, i am so disappointed and angry with how 343 have shipped this game, i think it's about time Xbox gave Halo to a new develop

I enjoyed the singleplayer, it's superb and probably the best Halo singleplayer. The reason for the low score is forced crossplay in multiplayer. For that reason alone multiplayer is not fun when it's not fair.

When Halo: Infinite was released, players had been waiting years to find out what happened to Master Chief, Cortana, The Arbiter, Earth, and the Guardians. Even the Spirit of Fire and the new Halo ring. Anticipation was heavy, and with how Halo 5 was relieved, a lot of people were nervous about 343i and their handling of the series. So the question remains, did Halo: Infinite live up to the expectations? Unfortunately, no, it didn't. While Halo: Infinite is a good game. Fun to play, a good enough online community and people willing to play, the story of Halo has taken a drastic left turn. When we left off, Cortana was in the process of taking over the Galaxy with the help of Promethian Guardians that could police an entire system alone. When we catch back up to events, Cortana has been deleted, Atriox has supposibly been killed, the Infinity has been destroyed, and the UNSC is all but no more. Clearly a lot has happened between games. The problem is, we only see small snippets and none of it was even close to what was expected. Now things being unexpected isn't always a bad thing, but in this case, it was not. Chief had been floating in space for months only to be picked up by a Pelican pilot who is new to the series. We learn that Chiefs mission was to upload another AI into a Halo ring to trap and delete Cortana. Before that could happen, however, The Banished attack and Atriox handedly beats Chief in a fight and throws him into space. He then manages to capture Cortana himself, for the crime of destroying his homeworld due to his refusal to play nice with her new doctrine. After which, Cortana realized the error of her ways and is then, subsequently deleted by Atriox. Chiefs goal in the game is to learn about what happened in his little space nap and reestablish the UNSC by rescuing troops and acquiring assets on Zeta Halo. While it's fun to play and new mechanics have been added, like the zip line, asset deliveries, and FoB capturing, it's just a mess. What happened here? Halo has always been about more. Not just Master Chief, but the war in general. Humanities dwindling militaristic powers against the Covinant and the secrecy of Earth. Even Halo 5 gave us a whole other team with an outsiders perspective to the events unfolding, even if that decision didnt sit well with a lot of players. Infinite feels so small in comparison. Cramped even. We never learn what became of Earth or if any other UNSC assets survived. Surely if Cortana has had her strangle hold on Earth released, the UNSC should be back to almost full power, minus the Infinity. What about thr Elites and Sanghelios? What is going on? We learn so much, but at the same time, so little in Infinite, it's maddening. For the time being, we're stuck on Zeta Halo, farting around with no clear goals or objective other than "mess with The Banished". There's just nothing here. We learn a few clues here and there from data caches around the game but most of it involves what has happened on Zeta Halo and only what has transpired netween the forces on the ring. What is the state of the Galaxy? What is going on with Earth? The Arbiter? While we didn't get a lot in other games, we still got something. The Arbiter is fighting to retake his homeworld. Earth is currently conflict free after the events in New Pheonix, different factions are running around the Galaxy. We get nothing in Infinite. Despite what many people think, the Halo series isn't just "The Master Chief Show". It's always been about the galaxy as a whole. Halo establishes that humanity is at war with The Covinant and Halos are doomsday weapons. Halo 2 covers the beginning of the Great Schism within the Covinant and Earth battling to save itself from Covinant fleets. We learn of other Halo rings and stop them from killing everyone. Halo 3 tells us that the war is going poorly for humanity. We learn about the Arc and stopping Truth from sterilizing the Galaxy. Stopping the flood by firing the replacement for Alpha Halo. Halo 4 is about Cortanas failing mental state and a new threat to humanity in the form of The Diadact. Halo 5 is about Chief confronting a megalomanic Cortana attempting to enslave the Galaxy and chasing Chief down as he goes AWOL. Halo Infinite is about... learning specifically what happened on Zeta Halo far after the events have taken place. Nothing beyond, nothing outside of a single Halo ring. They also shove in a new species because there is literally nothing else here. We get a conclusion to Cortana. The rest is just vague happenings because it seems like it's the best thing to do. No plan, no structure, no overarching theme beyond "wtf happened"? I'm not a Halo Online player so I won't speculate on how the online portion of the game is, but the story is disjointed, incomplete, and sorely lacking. 343i swung for the fences and promised a lot, only to deliver a ground ball on the 1st base foul line. UPDATE: Even a half year in we still have a lot of core features missing (e.g., coop, various costums and game-modes, forge, social features etc.) and only empty promises. 343 is unfit to handle the mantle. And lying is the worst offence they have done so far, lying about content, lying about deadlines, lying about communications. That's how you bury a legend

Interiores de juguete y todos iguales, construcciones de brocha gorda a base de cubos amontonados con cansinas oleadas de los mismos bichos todo el rato, lineales como una tabla y aburridos hasta decir basta, donde no haces más que activar switches y artefactos.

It saves it in a sense. It is incredibly responsive and smooth. The myriad of weapons that you can use are incredibly fun to experience. The graphics are somewhat of a plus. God forsake the gun play is fine and the worthless guns of the multiplayer are buffed as **** ( ravager, plasma rifle ). But the biggest mvp is the grappling hook. If it wasn’t for it, the game would be utter trash and a 0/10.

The story can be summed up in one sentence “Master Chief experiences periodic “schizophrenic” episodes from “data” and then kills bad guy”. Most of the campaign is collecting power cores as someone whispers in your ear and Echo-216 wets himself every 5 minutes.

It also portrays Master Chief as if he’s in some love-tangled relationship with Cortona. Like an ex-girlfriend that you can’t get over and constantly think about. Echo-216 is an empty character that brings nearly nothing to the story. I understand that his character is to provide comedic relief and humanize Master Chief, but it felt unnecessary. The Weapon “…” “……..” (if you play the campaign you’ll understand this comment).

Overall, the story felt like it had no purpose or soul. It was average at best for a flagship game that took 6 years to develop. I’m glad I didn’t spend $60 for what could have been “an e-mail”.

If the open-world concept had been better utilized and if the writers had added more interesting characters to the story, Infinite could have easily been one of the best Halo games ever. Halo is back to its best with Halo Infinite, tight controls, and seriously thirst-quenching gunplay that feels so intuitively satisfying. Traversal has been improved hugely by the addition of the grappleshot, allowing Master Chief to zip around at speed, as well as adding a unique element for multiplayer matches. A particular dampener has to be directed at the online multiplayer, which is riddled with cheaters, but, if they were to be removed then the multiplayer offers a solid free-to-play experience that is fast and frantic. Halo Infinite, alongside a number of other Xbox first-party titles is a great addition to Xbox Game Pass, and it is certainly a marquee game that warrants a subscription to the service.
