    In terms of gameplay control and graphics, this game is great.

    What kills it is the whole rogue-like genre. It is too hard to get engaged in to the game when there is minimal story and reason to want to continue picking up the controller. I think I have to be the only person who has 'completed' the game and just said meh, and stopped.     The only other praise I will give is that it has at least improved since early access on Epic. I bought it upon initial launch there and everything in terms of the gameplay and visuals are much improved.    … Expand

    Hades has a cool idea, and the characters are really lovable and alive, though it is just a glorified grind without much payoff. You can collect an item to level up your relationships with other characters, and I was very excited to see what would happen when I did, though I beat the final boss before anything did happen. Even playing 3 hours more I didn't make progress with any characters, you don't even know if you'll find that item out there, or if the character you want to talk to will even be around!

    The combat is that serviceable and then bland feeling Supergiant combat with that same Deviantart.com art style. The music is the same bland music they always have.

    You feel addicted to wanting to upgrade your relationships, home, and character, and the combat to do it feels like a bland and stressful slog, as it is often a gangbang-bullethell game.    … Expand

    There is a lot to like about this game: The gameplay is great, the character designs are good and the story is pretty decent. Why then the 6? The GRINDING, the endless grinding! I know that that is part of the game, get a little stronger, die, start back at the beginning, die again, etc. If I was maybe younger with fewer outside responsibilities, I might have had the patience for this.There is a lot to like about this game: The gameplay is great, the character designs are good and the story is pretty decent. But doing the same thing over and over and OVER to get a tiny bit stronger is not something that appeals to me now. If you have a lot of spare time to work on this game, you'll probably like it. But,if your time is limited and you have to choose how you spend it carefully, this may end up being more tiresome and frustrating than fun.… Expand

    Fluid gameplay and responsive controls. Constant evolution and incentives in the run. The different weapons are very specific. Inspired art style.
    CONS The characters and the dialogue weren't great. The voice acting was a big letdown, seemed amateur, lacking of emotion. Music was forgettable but one theme. Too short though, a few rooms, that don't vary much from each other and    PROS

    Beautiful to die for, enjoyable to take in hand and terribly addictive, Hades only sins by its structure identical to each run which may displease some. In return, it offers a gripping story carried by a Greek pantheon more charismatic than ever and a perfectly brought together narrative.

    Hades is a near-perfect Roguelike. The game looks great, plays smoothly, and offers tons of variation. There is no boredom in this game that lets you escape, die and repeat over and over again. You just want to reach the end and after that, you want to do it again and again. There are a few minor details that could have been better, but it doesn't get much better than this.

    Based on all the praise and awards Hades has received over the past year, the bar was set pretty high, some might say as high as Mount Olympus (I had to include one bad pun, sorry). I’ve tried to set this aside as I played the game and write this review, but it’s been difficult. Hades is a great game, and I feel safe saying that it’s in the upper echelon of roguelike/lite games, but in the end, I think there are a handful of issues that hold it back from being immortal (sorry, one more).
