    Forza: Motorsport 2023 is both a fantastic racing experience and an example of everything wrong in the genre at the moment. the driving is better than ever and the visual design is fantastic but the soundtrack, lack of local play and the small number of bugs did detract from the overall experience. It's got a ton of amazing content that makes up for the issues, however, so it is a hearty recommendation to all motor nuts.

    The truth is, Forza Motorsport feels like it was released to tick a box on the Game Pass release calendar, rather than it striving to retain its place at the pinnacle of video game racing. And if this is the future of Microsoft's first party games, Game Pass might not be the big deal it's been treated as. Forza Motorsport no longer feels like a love letter to racing car fans, but instead feels like a leaflet someone has shoved through my letterbox.

    The game engine here is demonstrably better than Forza Motorsport 7's but, in terms of breadth of gameplay, presentation, general excitement, and enjoyment gleaned from racing the AI cars, the older, now-deleted Forza Motorsport 7 is clearly superior. More content including tracks and event series will be added over time, so it will certainly improve, but right now the career mode here is so sedate and one-note, it's hard to recommend Forza Motorsport's offline mode over any of its peers.

    I'm absolutely sure that with a few extra doses of content, this could be a dream game for racing fans. As it stands, I'm sadly just missing a bit more gameplay here to hold it all together.

    Forza Motorsport is a great racing game, with a simcade control style that feels great. With more than 500 cars and 20 tracks, and countless races to overcome, it's a fantastic experience for Xbox and PC users. Additionally, the multiplayer mode is well-made. [Recommended]

    Forza Motorsport is serious business. Put the time in, Turn 10 is saying; do your laps, shave off the seconds, make that one small tweak, grind out that win. I respect its focus, and its refusal to pander to fun-addled Horizon players, instead offering them a clearly articulated invitation to join its more austere church. This is a game about going round in circles, a little bit faster every time, and it’s quite unapologetic about it. That’s proven compelling enough to base an entire sport around, so perhaps that’s fair enough. But just a little more variety would have gone a long way.

    Following the preview of Forza Motorsport and the Q&A session with the Turn 10 team, we were very optimistic about this test, and we were right on track. Admittedly, the A.I. is still a work in progress, and the images in the rear-view mirror are of poor quality, but all this is outweighed by the overall excellence of the title. The graphics and soundtrack are breathtaking, and don’t get us started on the “feels”: it is quite simply extraordinary. Additionally, the game is designed to be accessible to everyone, as is the level of multiplayer security, allowing you to race with like-minded players. Whether you are a motorsport fan or not, it would be a shame not to join the starting grid of this new Forza Motorsport.
