Let's face it, @Bungie went the wrong way (again) when it was all about profit, I love Destiny but turning a blind eye to what they've done is stupid, it's clear they sliced up history in the name of profit! 20$ to skip the story says a lot about it!

Bungie has created a system of brilliant psychological trickery where they pad their activity numbers by forcing you to do activities you don't want to do in order to obtain the things you do. Then we you obtain the things you want, they come up with a way to keep you from using them. They force you to grind "seasons" of monotonous content over and over in order to level up, just to take it all away and make you start over next season. When they see anyone enjoying anything, they swoop in and make it less enjoyable. When they see anyone feeling like their character is powerful, they swoop in with a knee-jerk reaction that punishes that power three times more than it needed. Light fall continues this circle of craptastic mind-screwery, but does so while making literally everything in the game worse and even less fun. Seriously, this is terrible. The story is dull, the characters are goofy, the new build system is a regression, the nerfs are not properly thought out, and now power level is only a time gate for "must be this tall to ride" activities.

Was this ever supposed to be fun?

DONT BUY IT! Bungie gave up on this one. Feels like a money grab with little to no effort put in to this expansion. I’ve been playing since D1 and feel more than qualified to voice the following concerns:

    1. The campaign is awful. The story is incomprehensible and goes nowhere. There is no innovation. It feels stale and lackluster. 2. Bungie reuses environmental assets from another world

    1. The campaign is awful. The story is incomprehensible and goes nowhere. There is no innovation. It feels stale and lackluster.

    2. Bungie reuses environmental assets from another world and adds them to a brand new undiscovered world. Makes zero sense and mentally takes you out of the story. Super lazy Bungie.

    3. Neptune is beautiful but shallow, empty and lifeless.

    4. Very few new enemies. 5. Bungie reused super old public events and added them to the new planet of Neptune. Why no new public events Bungie? Again, lazy.

    6. As expected, tons of bugs, disabled weapons/armor, work arounds, crashes, system freezes etc, Is it even a Destiny launch without a botched launch?

Story is so bad. The worst expansion in destiny history.strand is so weak and overall character feels so weak now. No build crafting any more

Incoherent storytelling might be remembered as a cluster of bad choices leading to terrible reception. The nerf to the power fantasy on top of a bad campaigns and an underwhelming new power leads to what we have displayed in the user score. 100% deserved and worse. Bad game dev who has zero intention to deliver.

This is an all time low for Bungie and that's something I thought we had finally moved past after the initial launch and first year of content. The story telling in this is painfully bad. The new characters they introduce are uninteresting and unappealing. You'll wish you could just mute them. They basically nerfed everything across the board. They now call it reworks though. A new expansion with no new legendary weapons (all reissue or reskin), nothing new for the core playlist, nothing new as far as activities, a mostly empty planet that again doesn't let you actually go to the coolest looking parts. This is by far the worst expansion because it's $50 and at this point in the Destiny life cycle this should not be happening. This is clearly a filer expansion so do yourself a favor and wait to get it on sale. I don't think it will take long to get there. Expand

if your a new or returning player its okay its fresh but if your a hardcore player honestly not worth it your money is better spent somewhere else like dead space or hogwarts legacy or something, i made my friend buy this expansion and i feel really bad about it cuz im not even enjoying it, im genuinely disappointed and i feel scammed the marketing team made it seem like you'd be swingingif your a new or returning player its okay its fresh but if your a hardcore player honestly not worth it your money is better spent somewhere else like dead space or hogwarts legacy or something, i made my friend buy this expansion and i feel really bad about it cuz im not even enjoying it, im genuinely disappointed and i feel scammed the marketing team made it seem like you'd be swinging like spider-man or deku on tall cyberpunk skyscrapers but all we got is a budget lego town i really do i feel like i got scammed and honestly the campaing just wasnt fun for me it i really dont wanna do em 2 more times on my titain and hunter its just so tedious, the exotics are boring still no new crucible maps and modes. i honestly don't feel like this game has a bright future anymore its so repetitive boring and not fun, at this point ill be playing catch up and do other stuff. sometimes i feel like this game wouldve been better with activison or if d1 didnt lose its game director idk getting side tracked sorry, maybe when the final shape comes out ill turn a 180 but until then im disappointed and sad ill make my score a 3 cuz some things i enjoyed like strand its aight ill still stick with shadebinder tho but ill have to make a good build to see its potential, oh yeah and they wayyy oversimplified mods now i hate it, i think i need a break and do my other hobies. this is one of thoes games where it might be better to take frequinte breaks or its just gonna feel really repeative.
final thoughts. disapointing, made me make a account on metacritic and rant. strand is okay missions are not fun enough to replay, osris was cool, weird that there werent any other characters, soooo many unanswerd question felt very dissatisfying, basically no new legendary weapons, warmind cells were removed rip, and yeah hopfully the future seasons make the game better but for now the games future seems dark and pleak.

The multi-billion dollar business has no obligation to provide valid evidence for something so permanent as a PERMAMENT SUSPENSION FROM ACCESSING ANY OF YOUR PAID FOR CONTENT ON THEIR SYSTEM?!?! The thing is...you CANT leave any real hateful comments and cuss words in reviews or XBOX doesn't even even save them, just blanks it out like you didn't type anything at all. Also I would've never said anything that warrants this kind of permament suspension, at worst I was talking crap on EAs Sims 4 predatory gaming practices of cutting a main game up and selling it to you in 20-$40 "game & expansion packs". So the suspension is complete BS, groups of circle jerks can get together and report something you typed as offensive and it auto-bans you and some lame gamer on a power-trip volunteering for their "ambassador" program (more circle jerks with fragile egos) reviews the ban and appeal. Boycott Xbox, they don't deserve your money with their "woke" parenting of even the lamest of things like GAME REVIEWS. I literally cant even sign into my account to access offline content, its ALL GONE thanks to an Abusive system MS lets auto-handle, the first miss steps of "AI". Buyers BEWARE. Expand

Pretty solid DLC. It didnt meet the expectations - the hype was huge but overall gameplay is really nice. I like the changes to difficulty level and new modding system, it really refreshed the game for me. The only downside is the story which is pretty dull in this DLC but it doesnt matter that much

Destiny has never been in a better place! Narratively light-fall cannot compare to witch queen. however core gameplay and seasonal content is an absolute gem no other FPS feels this way. If u can deal with the haphazard structure of the games expacs and content sales its a worthwhile Online FPS game.

A huge fail in all aspects of gaming; story telling, character development, gameplay etc. None of it was delivered on a $100 DLC. I'm shocked at the sheer bad content produced and packaged as something that turned out to be the opposite, a hot reskinned, woke infused, socially engineered pile of garbage. Bungie has the astute rep for taking the money and running, congrats well done. Strand subclass is incredibly fun; Great reason to come back to Destiny 2.
Bad- Can feel like it lacks cohesion with the existing game; Some specific gameplay moments lack the necessary punch; Underwhelming story. Thoughts- Destiny 2 has some of the best gunplay and combat abilities in the genre. Lightfall doesn’t change that, and anyone who has played and enjoyed Destiny 2

    Thoughts-
Destiny 2 has some of the best gunplay and combat abilities in the genre. Lightfall doesn’t change that, and anyone who has played and enjoyed Destiny 2 before will be welcomed back with open arms in Lightfall. Its addition of the new Strand subclass provides great new gameplay that feels satisfying and makes me want to keep coming back, even if it can feel shoehorned into campaign missions where it doesn’t belong. The campaign itself, while not particularly interesting on the story front, is a great way to ease back into the Destiny 2 ecosystem and prepare for your Root of Nightmares run or your path to the Power cap. While it’s hard to escape the feeling that this isn’t a vital piece to Destiny 2 and rather a Destiny 2-themed cut of something else entirely that doesn’t always fit, I can’t deny that I enjoy playing Lightfall more than I enjoy playing many other games. Regardless of the new content or the future, Destiny 2 is still, six years later, one of the best shooters in the game, and Lightfall is yet another reason to come back or start fresh.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is an expansion with two opposing aspects, that can be seen as the mirror image of the previous The Witch Queen. Weak in narrative content, it shows its best in perfecting the gaming experience, understood as that set of tools to fully enjoy the potential of our guardians. The hope now is that Bungie will put an extra effort into delivering Seasons full of content and capable of keeping the attention high towards the end of a saga a bit… paracausal.

Eclipse is more of a bridge that takes us closer to the end than a decisive expansion. Even so, Bungie’s mastery is evident in the impressive aesthetics of Neomuna and in a campaign of very high level of quality.
