This game is incredible! Even just small details how insanely beautiful water looks when sun sets in England or Ice caves in Norway. There's so much to do and explore. But this game is very clearly not for people who just wanna finish quick game and move on to next one. I think everyone should know that at this point.

It's absolute shame that everyone can just make account on this site and spread misinformation, lies and hate without buying / playing the game. Steam is so much better in that regard and Steam user scores (while not perfect either) are way more accurate.
For example Far Cry 5 has very low user score on metacritic based on 1700 reviews, while literally same game on steam has over 67 000

For example Far Cry 5 has very low user score on metacritic based on 1700 reviews, while literally same game on steam has over 67 000 reviews and 76% of them are positive. That just shows that random bots can't make accounts on steam and write fake reviews, but on this site, they can and they always have. This 6.8 score in reality should be more like 7.6-8.1 but thanks to bots who give this game endless 0's, this score is lower. This usually only happens with extremely popular games and Assassin's Creed Valhalla indeed is extremely popular game. Another good comparison is RDR2 PC version score here and on steam, night and day difference and there's so many more like that.

Absolutely no other gaming company makes these kinds of historical fiction games where you can climb on top of every building, etc. Haters don't care about historical locations at all. They most likely don't even know / care about history that much. They just wanna whine about every game Ubisoft makes, because they think it makes them look cool, but in reality it makes them look stupid, because Assassin's Creed has millions of fans all over the world and they clearly understand the appeal of these games. These are likely more level headed people, so no wonder they don't come to sites like metacritic, they don't even care about places like that. But this site attracts losers who just wanna hate and whine. I Found this news-site from 2017 that was about "fake reviews on AC Origins". Then why has nobody removed all these fake zeros?? Or maybe they don't care anymore, because last of us 2 gets 100s of fake positive and negative reviews every single day. I can say one thing, i will support Ubisoft till the day i die, they make good video games and it's very clear that they get hate because they are popular. If haters would get their way and all these other companies would go away then gaming would be dead because we would get 1 game in 5 years. Because that's all they want. They want only CDprojectred to exist and they hate absolutely everything else and i think i know why. Because they can pirate their games and of course losers will automatically support them. Expand

Penguinz is almost like anime villain, because you know when he gives low score to games he don't like or understand (he has never liked AC games) then his minions will give 0's to that game without even trying it. He also looks like anime villain, so it actually makes perfect sense. Valhalla is good by the way, so much better than Odyssey.

I personally absolutely, deeply hate Assassin's Creed 3, i have played it only 1 time and i will absolutely never play it again. It takes you 7 hours to play as actual main character while doing most boring missions possible. Just no. While i have finished Unity, Black Flag and Origins at least 3 times. So there's that. I personally really like Valhalla and it reminds me these three games i mentioned. It's not me trying to hate people who like AC 3, even tho i'm very, very tired of them whining about Desmond's death, but again, if you don't like these new games, just give it up. That's it. But to other millions of fans who have played and enjoyed this series past 7 years i would recommend this! All the classic elements like hood, hidden blade, one shot assassinations are back. They removed all the grind from Odyssey, you get 2 skill-points at the time and it's very easy to get them. Story is interesting, characters are likable, graphics look incredible. That's all i have to say. Expand

Apparently the devs have known about this for weeks but have done absolute nothing to fix it. I had roughly 80 hours in the game and the suggestion of going back to a save before that is insane. Yes let me crap 30 hours down the drain because you are too lazy to fix this. However what do you know they keep updating the Valhalla store so you can spend more money to make look cool in a game you can't freaking complete.

Great job of dumping all of your customer base with this release. Should have learned from CDPR and at least released a game without game breaking glitches, and a support team that doesn't give a **** enough to respond with real answers.

The Odin Site isn't as good as in the past. You can't mark enemies at least I haven't been able to yet. Took a giant step back from Odyssey. People didn't like the story and endless fluff in that game but the combat was great. Story needed some work though. You should have taken the idea of AC games, the assassinations, the parlour etc but took odyssey and built upon it. Not take Black Flag.

Very repetitive gameplay.... Playing this on my series x was a disappointment for the visuals as they didn't look as good as origins in my opinion. Less detailed particle effects and textures and some blurry looking visuals in the performance mode (until it got patched for nice crispy 4k). Definitely didn't feel like a next gen looking experience.

For a game so focused on hand to hand and melee weapon combat, this feels quite dull to play..... The basic ai and smaller crowd sizes are disappointing. They should just drop the assassin's creed title from these games now as it just feels like a Moniker.

At the end of this game I felt as if my time had been wasted. It took me 70+hrs to complete and 'hoover up' the main quests from my nap but I sincerely hope for more focused ac titles in future a la ac unity please!!!!! Also much rather have a single character in the game not 'customizable' make / female choice - it just feels unfocused and a waste of developer resources.

The mysteries scatted throughout the lands, some as simple as making a kid cry or not, to following a dude who likes to eat wildlife he should not. ( I will say no more as not to spoil anything) These mysteries as they call them replace the good ol' go find a rind and kill the guy. They flow like butter in an organic way across the regions, no more 2598.761 miters for a rabbit tale. The combat is the best in the entire series, improved stamina gauge, a long boatload of abilities, massive passive skill tree. Last my personal favorite dismemberment and finishers! I would go with playing on explorer mode for a complete immersive adventure. Plus did I mention Norse mythology. To end stunning world, impactful combat, tons of unlockable abilities, massive passive skill tree and most important organic side quest/mysteries with a 93.3786% chance not to stink like fetch/kill. Not terrible, but pretty dull and repetitive. Just constant quests of "go here and fight these". The settlement building was a good idea but doesn't really do much. Like the rest of a game, a shell of an idea that quickly just reverts back to fighting and grinding.

Clearly rushed for the new console generation, bugs everywhere. Nothing game breaking but just annoying and spoil the fun.

This game is absurdly buggy. Ubisoft should be ashamed of themselves for releasing it like this. Most of the side quests/"world events" don't work, the npcs and objects won't interact with you. There are copious softlocks in the main storyline. Disgraceful. I wouldn't buy this if I'd known it was so broken. I have to flag Ubisoft titles in the future now for quality checks.

When there's a storyline between these collectathon sessions there's something moderately enjoyable here. But after murdering a entire town in back to back combat on medium difficulty and barely breaking a sweat...Just no.

The entire time I played this game at no point did I feel like I was experiencing anything fun. While there's some beautiful scenery and some barely interesting plot points nothing drew me in. I didn't much enjoy Odyssey for its also massive amount of optional busy work. But at least it's combat loop was sort of entertaining. But I abandoned that game after 20 hours. Valhalla reached that same point before I just got too bored. When while I'm playing I'm anxiously and happily considering work tomorrow rather then getting dragged into what's supposed to be a fantastic game world I just don't know. This is the last Assassin's Creed I'll ever buy.

As a side note I eventually ended up with the Xbox One version of this game. The PC version ran so poorly on a 2080 Super and a minus one from current gen i7 that if you're thinking of buying this on PC don't.

Everyone who gave this game a 10 and a 0 are overreacting. This game is far from perfect and far from a disaster. I've played almost every AC game (only haven't played Rogue, Unity, and Syndicate) and have enjoyed most of them.

I've put about 70 hours into the game so far. As of right now, the ceiling on this game (which can increase depending on how good the DLC ends up being) is about 8.5. However, in it's current state, I'd give it a 7.

This game builds upon a lot of what worked in Origins and Odyssey while bringing back enough aspects from older games to get fanboys to stop whining on the internet.

There are a fair amount of bugs that need fixing. Not enough to make the game unplayable, but enough to frustrate the player into quitting the game for the day. Some are purely cosmetic (I turned around at one point and saw an NPC floating and spinning about 25 feet or so in the air, one time I got out of a row boat and it flung into the air and exploded, little things like this). However, some do restrict advancement and have required me to restart the game (the only bug that has repeated has been the lack of an ability to initiate a discussion with an NPC that I'm required to talk to for a mission, another that I've experienced was a wealth box that was underwater that had an invisible box around it that prevented me from getting it... I ended up having to probe around it until I finally found a point where I could get close enough to open it).

The parkour is just as frustrating as most people remember (I'm still shocked when I see people comment on how parkour was "great" in previous games... it is fun when it works, but when it doesn't, it is infuriating).

With respect to stealth, even with the return of "blending in" and the hidden blade, there is little point in being sneaky in this game. As long as you aren't under-powered, you can take on entire fortresses by yourself and enemies don't call for reinforcements like previous games (even the bells only notify enemies in the immediate area that you are there).

All in all, it's a fun game that will become good when the bugs are taken care of and could be great if the DLC is as good as Origins and Odyssey.

Endless cutscenes that do nothing but bog the gameplay down.

Dull game pacing exacerbated by the huge game world, not improved by it.

And as usual for Ubisoft games: designers frequently break the game's immersion by forcing the player out of the actual gameplay with their continual flash-forwards to their ridiculous "archeologist from the future" storyline. Message to Ubisoft: no one buys a game about Vikings because they want to play as a researcher in a secret cabin somewhere. This has got to be the most baffling bit of stupid writing that has crippled every one of their AC games.

And contrary to all the fan boys out there, the graphics are fine - but not that good. Red Dead Redemption was far better, as was Death Stranding - and any of a dozen others - and they came out two years ago.

You may disagree and think this is a great game but there is a reason this game is not on anyone's award list: it's crap.

Sound problems – things sound off everywhere with different dynamic range, different pitch, dialogues/ambient/music all sound different with some things sounding super low quality or like from under water.

Model recycling – game has like 50 character models and main characters often reused for NPC models

Lots of recycled missions/areas from Origins/Odyssey

I'm almost at the end of the story and just forcing myself to complete the game because i've endured so much suffering getting to the point where I'm so giving up is not an option.

Lots of glitches: glitched quests, glitched drunken, glitched regen, glitched graphics.

Quality of Life Deterioration: torches are useless at dark places and at night still can't see anything, climbing types of walls may look the same but some can't be climbed, eagle sight useless, talents basically useless as the whole game can be completed without investing anything into any talents, Itemization useless as the whole game best weapons are at start and in the end, tedious rinse repeat tasks of breaking in houses with blocked doors and climbing between 2-3 towers for a chest with 1 paper inside.

This game should have been an expansion pack for Odyssey as it doesn't bring any quality of life improvements rather brings quality of life deterioration.

That said I think Valhalla is a big step backwards. The story is pretty decent, they give assassinations a new little twist. The setting is gorgeous and I do like the gear system a bit better than Odyssey though I would have liked to see a few more weapons for each weapon type. I mean Odyssey was WWWAAAYYY to much whereas Valhalla is about 1/30th of the selection. I feel like they were a little too extreme the opposite way. I think the ability system is worse. Now you have to find books of knowledge to unlock new abilities instead of having them tied to progression like in Odyssey. Then there are the skill trees. Jesus Christ it makes no sense. There are 3 branches. Melee, Stealth, and.........Ranged? I cant remember for sure mostly because I can get as many melee level ups in the ranged tree as I can in the Melee skill tree. It's hard to explain, you'll see. I do however think it's totally worth a purchase. If you are on the fence because you didn't like Origins or Odyssey, I really think it feels closer to the old style than those mentioned above. Expand

It is highly satisfying completing a story arc or traversing the world and finding things that you felt that other players might not have stumbled across due to the nature of the open world and its use of way finders. The lack of load times on Xbox Series S is truly impressive given the nature of environments, landscape, and elements that are present on screen. There were a few issues from characters floating in mid-air, bizarre enemy AI, and straight up freezes, although these were far and few between given the scope of it all. Intuitive and varied combat help keep things fresh, even if it does take a fair few hours of gameplay to really get going. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a thoroughly enjoyable, open-world RPG that is an absolute must for Xbox owners.

In many aspects Valhalla resembles most of Ubisoft’s games, but fortunately progression feels a lot more natural this time around. The game’s not perfect but I had lots of fun conquering new territories, plundering churches, and pillaging coastal villages while following a mature story and enjoying gorgeous, believable medieval Britain. What could have been an elephants' graveyard of forgotten ideas instead feels like a series-wide victory lap. [Issue#353, p.96]
